I HAVE A HUGE SURPRISE FOR YOU KING FANS: IT"S SUPER GOOD
First off I'm a Blazer fan. I intend absolutely NO DISRESPECT WHATSOEVER, and only want to establish a level of solidarity uncommon to most fan bases. Apparently Blazer fans are starting to get a rap for being smug, so please, please, don't take it that way. Based on your comments last night it seems like you're friendly and reasonable people (my favorite line was: i'm gonna drink until i can't fel feelings).
I came over to read the draft thread from last night. You guys are seriously funny. We certainly appreciated all the good humor and 'in good nature' Blazer hating.
You're also a small market team, much like Portland. The cities are different in many ways, but you're culture is fairly similar. You're going through what we went through a few years ago.
Last night was especially tough for you. Maybe Thompsen works out. He looks good to me, but I'm stupid. We'll see. Either way, missing out on Bayless and Augustin must have been torture. I felt it for a few minutes before I realized what KP was up to. I love Petire, but you probably could have had one of those players if Petrie really did his homework.
Because you seem like a great blog, and because of the similarities I mentioned and the tough times you've been having, I'd like to do two things for you.
First, I'd like to invite you to become Blazer fans. The timing's right, and now that you've had a formal invitation it's not like you're just jumping on some bandwagon. You harcore fandom is not in question because we're pretty close as far as teams go, we all hate the living bejeezers out of the L*kers, and other reasons.
The other thing I'd like to do for you is to award the Kings the 2002 NBA Championship. I don't care how many times I'm called a conspiracy theorist, that was your championship, and from now on when anyone ever asks me who won the 2002 NBA Championship, I will say it was the Kings. I'll also make sure to ask my fellow Blazers Edge bloggers to do the same (though I can't promise they will).
I hope this helps you guys feel a little better about last night. It's been a long time coming, but the 2002 Kings are finally awarded the title they deserve. If anyone knows of a good and extremely cheap jeweler, I'd be happy to collect funds to get some rings made. We can send them to each of the players. Maybe we could have them made in LA. Anyway, you now have bragging rights. Have fun guys.

Thanks for the invite
But I’m a Kings fan, through and through (or is that black and blue?). I will follow the Blazers enthusiastically as I am a fan of good basketball, and I will root for them on probably all but about four or five nights next year, unless by some miracle we’re both fighting for the 8th playoff spot.
The demographic similarities are undeniable, and for that reason alone it’s easier to feel good about your pending success, especially if it means the Warriors and L*kers fail.
Good luck!

If we're competing for the 8th
I’ll be happy for you, but will totally understand why you wouldn’t root for us.

I'm neither funny nor reasonable.
Nice try to make us feel better, but last time I checked a small contingent of Blazers bloggers can’t rewrite Sacramento Kings history. You will never know our pain so don’t pretend to understand. How dare you come in our home and try and convert us to Blazer fans?!

last time i checked
we still spanked the Blazers in 2 of 3 games last year.
I’m not sure why anything would change this year

Ain't nothing like a Jason Williams to CWebb oop
The Blazers will win 50+ games next year. Unless Roy/Aldridge/Outlaw/Webster regress to their rookie forms and Oden freak injures himself again. No offense, but we have at least 3 guys more valuable than your best player. Our 6th man Outlaw would be your #2 guy. And no, I didn’t forget about such all-stars as francisco garcia and john salmons. But best of luck, I really liked the Kings during their 3 year heyday. And sorry about the condescending post from Blazer nation, but for the next 4 years when you’re in the lottery feel free to follow the Red and Black, the higher ratings might mean we could actually play in the finals.
by ChadFord on Jun 27, 2008 8:31 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Outlaw would not be the 5th best player on the Kings
You wanna talk your crap go ahead. But don’t re-write history to make your point either. For the record Artest, Martin, Salmons, Garcia, and Miller are more valuable, productive and important talents to the Kings than Outlaw is to the Blazers.

I didn't want to start anything
I just couldn’t believe KingsTV saying nothing would change this year, especially considering we had the better record without our #1 pick (pure luck and a year of suffering to get that) and Fernandez coming over. Artest is a more polished player than Outlaw, but I’m pretty sure you guys would give him away for a song. Salmons and Garcia are table scraps that wouldn’t make our active roster. You start MIKKI frikkin MOORE.its not surprising Brad Miller had a renaissance year, it was either him MIKKI MOORE, SHawes or Swilliams.
PS: A poll on our blog at last check had us going to the playoffs by a vote of 40 to 2.
PPS: Sorry King’s fans I won’t post anymore, I know I sound like a total homer that’s hating on Sacto.
by ChadFord on Jun 27, 2008 9:13 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Artest won't be given away for a song
Trust me, I personally hope for that, and after the Denver supposed traded debacle, the Nuggz wouldn’t give up Kleiza the #1 pick for Artest. Trust me no song will net Artest unless Petrie/the Maloof’s change their mind.
I don’t care if you hate on Sacto, but Salmons is a better player than most of your wings. In fact on Sac the wings are the strength of the team.
You can vote that you’ll make the playoffs, but the Blazers will probably have to win 47 games to do it next year. Good luck with that.
P.S. Shelden Williams didn’t come to the Kings until late February. He started the year on the Hawks roster.
P.P.S: If you’re going to say something don’t run and hide when people call you on it. That’s just childish and does noone any good. This is coming from the king of low class. Keep it in mind next time you post something that has little to no merit.

I was merely
pointing out the fact that Artest completely dominates Roy every time they play. Half of our roster was hurt last year and we still won 38 games (3 less than the blazers) who by the way had a 13 game winning streak at some point and a completely healthy roster other than Oden.
We match up well with the Blazers which is why I’m still confident we will continue to beat you next year.

no offence but your ugly and smell bad???? I would in a hartbeet trade outlaw for a number of kings players, and rumer nunning for miller that included the 13th pick, becouse it was understood that Miller>Outlaw? Did you just think that kings fans would blindly consent to your homerism with gratitude would be suprised if you really did. they love the team like we love our team, and if you substitute wife for team and say that, no offence but my wife is obviously better looking then yours, to a man who adors his wife, the mother of his childrens, the smile that fuels his efforts in the world, ect, you might have a few participents breaking some laws, as that is very offencive no matter how many times you say I dont want to offend.

basicaly, you need your food chewed for you
seriously man, your not smart enough to make the (for you) huge mental leep when trying to figure out what idea is being conveyed with the use of you’re vrs your.?dictionary spelling is nessassary for you to acheave reading comprehension? If you were following directions somewhere and sudennly the spelling in the instruction didnt match the street signs, would you just be lost? whould you just overheat and shut down? is that ware you fail?
and do you realise that intelligible means comprehedible? the word I think you were trying to use is unintellibible, at least judging by context, wich is a nessassary component for a high leval of reading comprehension, so in in your case fogivable.
you dont capitalize, utilize improper sentance structure, kant spel, and make use of slang/short hand(“cuz” “wtf”), all while berating anothers version of the same. really? seriously? why are you trying to trying to point out what you percieve as flaws in others while advertising the same defishent skill set? THAT doesnt make sence. but I supose it could be explained easily enough.
I would assume that if you (started?) read/ing books from a variety of genras(in a quiet place)and most importantly, converse(not the shoe) with people outside your present social structure, in other words, try to conect with others out side your demographic. You will fall short, but with persistant effort, should also show improvement. else you will always need others to pick up your slack.

My question
I’m not trying to get into this argument (at all), and this is for everyone that posts on SB Nation blogs….
Out of curiosity, how hard is it to use the built-in spell checker when posting a comment? For example, in this comment I just misspelled “curiosity” the first time I typed it, and the spell check caught it for me.
I don’t think anyone can be expected to use perfect grammar/spelling all the time (and thank goodness for that, because my spelling is atrocious and I never really understood a lot about grammar), but at least give a little effort. Typos will happen, and sometimes a word is spelled so far off that the spell check doesn’t help (e.g. “deficient” wasn’t an option when I typed in “defishent”), but it’s a built-in tool available for everyone to use.
While meaning can usually be gathered from context, it sure makes it a lot more difficult to parse it all out when there are constant (to use your post as an example, 20+) errors. On that note, I’d also like to mention ALL CAPS, ( BURP )’s, MiXeD cAsE, and missing the “reply” button as other ways of making a comment harder to understand. As unfortunate as it may be, many people will discredit a message based on how it is delivered.
Sorry for the long post, and please don’t take this as a personal attack ptwnblzr . . . this is something I’ve wanted to write for a while now. It’s not intended to be aimed specifically at you, I just used your post as an example because the topic was already relevant.

Don’t be mad when you write something and they mis-understand it based off that. That goes with the territory. Either express appropriately what you’re trying to say, or live with the confusion that will probably follow if you don’t.

but come on do you really expect us to become Blazer fans? In fact the title of your post is very condescending, as if the ability to be a Blazer fan is some sort of present that you can give to us. I almost prefer the tools coming over with the Pritch-slapped comments. Well, not really. Thanks but no thanks.

Present?
When I read it I thought that the “present” was the 2002 Title. I assumed it had to be that, because offering to switch teams would sound pretty condescending, and I gave benefit of the doubt since the post seemed fairly good-natured.

I will root for Portland in the same manner that I rooted against GS last year. (After SJax ripped us for taking that late timeout). Obviously our team comes first in all of our heads-up games, but I’ll root for Portland over LA (both teams), Dallas, PHX, Utah, and the like.

HYPE
More self perpetuating NBA hype. Ooooh, the Blazers! I seem to remember another Blazers team a few years ago that expoded from its great talent and lack of ‘team’. Are there some All-Stars on that roster I failed to notice? Hmmmm, nope, you got one (too early for his own good) and a lot of ‘potential’.
Greg Oden? Has he PLAYED yet? CAN he play? You don’t know, no one does.
Potential and $5 dollars will get you a six dollar burger.

interesting comparison
but I do think the Blazers have a better GM (even if I don’t have much more faith in their coaching), and I have a lot of respect for the work ethic of a guy like Roy. But you’re right, “potential” only gets you so far, especially in this brutal Western Conference.
