Lawson-
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3428920
Those of you wishing to get Lawson in the draft may have received a blessing this morning. I can see this current off the court issue resulting in a slip for him in the draft. I'd love to gift-wrap those 2 second rounders for a chance to get him.
And for those of you who previously thought Denver would take him. After this, I highly doubt it. They wont go down this PR nightmare road again following the recent Melo' DUI incident!!!

Could be a curse
Lawson has previously stated that he’d return to school if he thought he wouldn’t be drafted in the Top 20, so if he feels that Denver would indeed pass on him, he may just opt out of the draft and go back to school for another year.
When I started reading this fanpost I was hoping to hear that he’d finally signed an agent (which would lock him into the draft) . . . but as the linked article states, he has not.

I disagree
I think this will increase the likelihood of him going to the L!!!
DUI costs are NOT cheap!!! Especially if you dont have time to work cause your a D1 athelete and you don’t have a disposable income like Mayo.

Meh...
...just a DWI. I’m not going to get too worked up over it.
The Cleveland Indians just used their 1st rd pick on a guy with a Grand Larceny charge. Now there is an issue worth looking into.

Me neither..
I’m not too worked up over it either…
But I do enjoy the fact that the one team i was worried about snagging him before we could possibly make a move to do so, had their star player arrested for DUI 2 months back.
I’m sure the Indians wouldnt have drafted that guy in the first if CC Sabathia had been arrested in April for Grand Larceny…See my point?

Yeah -
I posted this in fanshots about an hour previous to your post, but I did not “front page” it because I didn’t think it was that big of a deal, at least by today’s standards.

You know -
Lawson is thought to be wanted by Denver. This could actually solidify his position. He should fit in fine with ‘Melo and J.R.

Denver
The Nuggets have cancelled their workout with Lawson.

Wow
Now he just needs to sign an agent and he might be a two 2nd round picks trade pickup.

NOT SO FAST!
From Hoopsworld:
Ty Lawson’s workout with the Nuggets was not cancelled, he was a no-show. Lawson has been debating on whether to stay in the draft class or return to school. Lawson was recently charged with driving after drinking and has been taking a lot of negative publicity recently. Lawson was supposedly a “lock” to be drafted by Denver at #20, with some suggesting a promise was made. The “missed” workout likely signals a decision by Lawson to return to school – no official word has been said.

But
Lawson did work out for the Pacers. Hmmm.

Timeframe?
Was that before or after his no-show with Denver?

He worked out
for the Pacers last Wednesday and was arrested that Friday.

That's BEFORE
It might not be relevant.

I agree with smgmatt
Sometimes a coincidence is just that. Of course I always say shit that’s wrong too.

Will this saga never end?
And now it appears that he has worked out in Denver this week. Right back where we started.

Does this mean Lawson means little to you in terms of value as a prospect?

Joking
I think he just meant that it’s pretty funny how we’re tracking a late 1st Round Pick’s every move, as though he was a future star of the league. He’s not even projected to be a lottery pick, and yet he’s been followed here more closely than pretty much anyone else.
The irony is that unless the Kings get another 1st Round Pick, he won’t even be around for the Kings to pick!
by smgmatt on Jun 12, 2008 6:11 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Exactly
As it stands now we would not draft him at #12 (would we?) and he’ll be gone by #42. This has been a long (but good and fun) conversation about a player who most likey will be playing somewhere other than Sacramento next year, and may still go back to school.

I still think Lawson should not rank on the high list of players Sac should roll the dice on
My opinion though. (And the high amount of attention is an interesting note.)

I agree
But I would have no problem dealing a pair of 2nd round picks (99.9% unlikely), Mikki Moore (95% unlikely) or Salmons (50/50?) for a mid 1st round pick that would snag him. On the other hand, if we grabbed Ausgustin or Westbrook at #12 then that mid 1st round pick could be used on someone like Speights, Donte Greene, Robin Lopez, maybe even Darrell Arthur.

Yeah I would do that too
I’m really open because there is no clear cut route the Kings can get to getting a quality, or if they’re supremely lucky, a true impact player at the 12th pick.
