An Open Letter From Ailene Voisin to Brad Miller
Is anyone available to translate? I think it's something like, "You idiot!" but the flowery language has distracted me. Also, why are columnists writing "open letters?" You have a column. There's no need for an open letter. I assure you that your column will get printed.

Voisin
She (like the rest of the Bee staff) has been really solid lately, as though Amick has elevated everyone’s game. Let’s hope this is just a hiccup. Why does Iraq and Afghanistan get mentioned here? And Brad did apologize to both the fans and organization, so why are you asking for one?
I’m not defending Miller on this. As a veteran, leader and starter on this young squad this is really inexcusable. But he will pay for this (almost $700,000 in lost wages if my math is correct). I’m just not sure what Voisin wants here. If she wanted to write about how disappointed she is, she should have just done it and I would have most likely agreed, as I too am disappointed.
Swing and a miss. Take another hack, Ailene.

I think it can be summarized by
Dear Brad,What were you thinking?
Everything else was just a smokescreen. Perhaps her prose was intentionally hazy to provide a “mood” for the article.
I read it this morning and just thought I hadn’t injested enough caffeine,

Ugh
What a bunch of nonsense. I hate to say it, but could you see someone like Amick or Scott Howard-Cooper or Kreidler write this? Well, maybe Kreidler…

Kreidler is good stuff
I think Kreidler is the best sports writer the Bee has ever had, but I agree that the letter was crap. Section214 is totally right about the Iraq and Afghanistan references. I’m guessing that I agree with Voisin’s politics, but that has nothing to do with Brad Miller smoking pot.

I don't disagree with you or Section
but I think she was saying that with the country at war, smoking pot is not really that serious, but still Brad what were you thinking? Seems like a reasonable point to me. That said, this “Letter” is an example of Voisin at her worst. Kind of scattered.

As an aside
KHTK still sucks. SInce the KNBR morning show is on location at some sports bar in Chicago (boring), I was forced to tune to 1140 during my commute this morning. Topics covered during my 45 minute drive into work:
Beer
Smoky Air
What songs you would want played at your funeral
Not one mention of either the Artest rumblings, or the suspension of Brad Miller. Most likely they had covered it earlier in the morning, but for pete’s sake – not everyone commutes at 5 to 6 am.
Luckily, I discovered that Colin Cowherd was on vacation, so I listened to ESPN 1320 towards the tail end of my drive in.
But what a joke KHTK has become. Their ratings might be fine now, but that lineup could use a shakeup, IMO.

Agreed on 1140
In fact, they take on air delight in ticking of listeners that actually want to tune into a sports talk show.

I've always thought of it as
Because they’re bored talking about the Kings all the time doesn’t mean that every fan in Sacramento wants to do that. The sports talk show circuit is too limited and to too few topics. As an A’s fan I never hear that team discussed unless Lamb brings it up because he is “supposedly” an A’s fan. 1140 is pushing a certain agenda, and always will I suspect. It’s too bad really, but it is what it is.
With blogs, I don’t need sports talk radio to arouse my intellectual sports curiosity. That’s the best thing about the rise of the blogosphere. Those of us who want more have it. We don’t bother anyone else, and we are satisfied. The Sports Blogosphere, the posting version of Enzyte. Where the Clubhouse partner is always happy with the outcome. Har Har Har!
No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. It's simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get tangled, you tango on

The blogosphere takes care of my sports needs. But what about those 45 minutes (each way) in the car?? What am I supposed to listen to music

Podcasts and audiobooks
I don’t really listen to sports podcasts, but there are a million others out there. Plus, they’re almost all commercial free. Olbermann now does Countdown as a podcast. If you’ve got a 45 minute commute each way, you really, really need an Audible subscription. You’ll have to either replace your factory stereo with something that has an AUX input or buy an iPod adapter (if one is available) but it’s absolutely worth it.

Thank
god for ESPN1320 during the day. I do, however, like Koz and Carmichael Dave. Even though the Dave’s show isn’t a “sports” show.

Rise Guys
The Rise Guys have never really been a sports talk show. I stopped listening to KHTK when they invented the podcast. Speaking of which – where’s the Sactown Royalty Podcast TZ? We weren’t going to say anything, but you don’t seem to be getting the hint.

Spot me a couple extra free hours a week, and we’ll talk.
I’ve always wanted to do one, though, a weekly 15-30 minute thing. Hopefully, we’ll get an opportunity to this season.

Lina Lamont: Tah, Tey, Tye, Tow, Tyo.
Phoebe Dinsmore: No, no, no Miss Lamont, Round tones, round tones. Now, let me hear you read your line.
Lina Lamont: And I cayn’t stand’im.

Lina Lamont: And I cayn’t stand’im.
Phoebe Dinsmore: Can’t.
Lina Lamont: Cayn’t.
Phoebe Dinsmore: Caaaan’t
Lina Lamont: Cayyyyn’t
In this musical comedy, Lina Lamont was a Silent Movie Star with a squeaky, accented voice(“a voice made for silent movies”), at the time when Hollywood was changing over to talkies.
If you enjoy old movies at all, this one is worth a watch.

I have to respectfully decline there...
Can’t stand his delivery. Interesting points of view, but it sounds like he’s shouting the whole time. I much prefer Scott van Pelt.

I should say I do like Doug Gottlieb when he’s talking about something halfway serious w/r/t basketball; his “funny”/pop culture stuff and analogies make me cringe, but he knows the game and players well.

Aeline is a tool if there ever was one.
I’m pretty sure I’ve been more critical than anyone else in regards to B-52. In fact I’m still coming to terms with my anger, and I can’t even drink this weekend KJHASDL:AGHDSL(QPEH.
Anyway… I’ve read multiple times in blogs, and heard it mensioned on a radio segment or 2 that players try to avoid her if at all possible. It’s pretty easy to see why. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence should look at this and be like uhm… What do you actually want Brad to do besides never EVER violate the anti-drug or any other policy for that matter of the NBA so-long as he remains a King? What do you really want Aeline? I’m sure he’s more sorry about the $700,000 he is forfitting for tokin’ than anything… Or the fact that he will be missing OPENING NIGHT. Don’t get me wrong, I still think he deserves damn near everything he has coming to him.
But from what I gather reading her ‘letter’ it’s like she wants him to put together a PH.D. Disertation on how to authentisize an apology without sounding like a lawyer wrote it for him, and that he actually does mean what he says. Actions speak louder than words. I want Hawes starting for the season to show the organization gives a damn about their young crew, and that they don’t look lightly on such offenses (ha, ha… like that would ever happen). And I want him haivng 20/20 games off the bench while doing so.
There, I said it. Back to work for another 5 hours >.<

Curious,
dkons21, can you say what kind of job you have that grants you internet access during work hours? I’m not asking you to be specific, but I am curious.
I’m actually curious about anyone who posts during work hours, you just made a point of saying that you were at work. I barely (rarely) manage to check TZ & section’s headlines during the day and I would love a job that gave me more free time. so that I didn’t have to read StR at midnight!

Voisin
Tries to write the “touchy-feely” side of basketball.
Gag.
She is always looking for the story that makes the players people, but I think she has really started to believe that she has relationships with these guys. How many times did she mention Peja’s brown eyes, or Cisco’s brother?
I can see what she’s trying to do with this “letter”. She wants to make Brad respond to her personally so that she can write his apology and story of redemption and make us all love Brad again.
It’s sappy and it’s a stretch, and it’s probably not meant to appeal to the hard-core fans that populate sites like this.
