random thought unrelated to the kings
i heard cuban joke that oklahoma city should join a division with houston, san antonio, and dallas called the "dustbowl division" which made me laugh and also got me thinking that the northwest division really doesnt make sense anymore. Not that it really matters but i think they should switch portland into the pacific for phoenix and rename the northwest to the midwest but like i said it really doesnt matter. I just feel as it stands it goes against logic. On a side note, im not even sure if the divisions can be changed or if it requires owner approval first and with the rumored changes (memphis to seattle, New Orleans, and i hope the kings get a new arena) it might not even be worthwhile. anyway, sorry if i wasted your time with this sensible nonsense.

You bring up a good question
and one that can yield a fruitful discussion. But not capitalizing sentences is a pet peeve of most people. Take out the “this doesn’t matter stuff” and heck, throw up a poll. Voting between whether they ahould stay in the division, switch divisions, or have the division structure revamped. Also, let your title reference what you’re talking up (something like “Revamping the Divisions” or whatever). Finally, throw up more of your own thoughts on the issue, and what you think are the plus/minuses of each choice.
Where’d you hear that Cuban bit? Was it on his blog? Can you hook us up with a link? Thanks for the post.

btw
This is not a criticism – my first posts sucked major too, and I’m just relaying some of the same advice I got. I’m interested in what people have to say about this, so if you clean up your post a bit, you could prolly fetch some more opinions.

Q.Your thoughts on the possibility of the sonics moving to Oklahoma?
"I’m going to wait to get all the information," he said before the Sonics’ game against the Mavericks. "(But) my preference is the Sonics stay in Seattle. My prejudice is against having a Dustbowl Division in this part of the country because I don’t think in the big picture that helps the NBA and I think the bigger market helps the NBA." -cuban

Thanks Maloofs
I’m sure Seattle appreciates it.

HaHa Yeah
But it is money in their pocket because of the relocation bid too. So because Cuban and Allen don’t care about that they vote against it. (Cuban did it to make a point. Allen did it because there was nothing risky involved for him. He after all lives in Mercer Island-it’s between Bellevue and Seattle in Lake Washington-and he’s a big part of the Seattle area with all his projects in South Lake Union and Queen Anne the most notorious being the Experience Music Project.)

Sorry, im a college student
and were notorious for being lazy online posters, its the only chance we get to be informal. The it doesnt matter stuff was in reference to the scheduling because i had thought that we played everyone in the west an equal number of times but Pookey and CoachTheus have enlightened us(or maybe just me) below. But thank you for the advice it is always appreciated

The challenge
Put Portland in the Pacific with the California teams and someone is still going to be odd team out. That would place Utah, Phoenix, Denver and Minnesota in one division. Put the Texas teams in the other division and you still have to somehow split up OKC, Memphis and New Orleans.
I say leave it alone and let Clay Bennett suck up the extra travel expense.

Yeah that's what I think too
Bennett “had” to move the Sonics. Let him deal with the consequences.

do we play teams in our division more often? I thought it was just 4 games against everyone in our conference (but it’s 3 for four teams, right? 4×10 + 3×4 = 52) and 2 against the East (2×15 = 30), totaling 82.

Yeah it rotates randomly among 3 non division teams in each conference for each team
Example. The Kings will play a team 3 times and play 3 non division teams in such fashion.
