Kelly Dwyer is a hater, genius and a Bulls Fan
Which of the 3 matters here? Well, being what I think about the guy, the middle part. He used Kurt of Forum Blue & Gold to make the argument. An argument Kurt makes very well & skillfully. Kurt said it 10 days ago, and I’ll say it now. The trade makes sense for neither side really, and worse, when you look at other options, it makes Odom even less attractive over the long haul.

genius?
I don’t think so. The guy actually said Odom was a better all-around player. Odom is good. He’s not nearly the all-around player Artest is. I don’t know how a person can claim to watch and understand basketball and write that sentence.
Regarding the comments related to Ron’s defense, I can only say that I’ve watched nearly every game he has played as a King, and the guy works his ass on the defensive end – generally, while playing with guys that play little or no “D.” I will agree, however, that his defensive rotations have gotten worse over the past two seasons.

Well then you disagree with me too
Because Odom is a far better all around basketball player than most players in the NBA including Artest. Maybe the only better “all around” players are LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. So, yeah, I disagree with you.
This isn’t about Ron’s defense or his abilities on the court. But Odom has a bevy of skills too. For the Lakers I believe he would have more value because he can fit in the Triangle much easier than Artest can. When has Artest shown the ability to keep the ball moving?

agree and disagree
“For the Lakers I believe he would have more value because he can fit in the Triangle much easier than Artest can. “
I can live with that statement. Some players are clearly better suited for certain systems.
Can’t buy this one: “far better all around basketball player than most players in the NBA , including Artest. “
And, I don’t think many analyst would consider Odom in that category. He’s simply far too inconsistent, disappearing for large stretches. But, I’ll certainly agree he has a ton of freakin’ skill. Unfortunately, I think it has not been fully realized. And that’s the biggest knock on the guy.
Artest is a better scorer and defender. Odom a far superior rebounder They both have very good handles. Both shoot the ball pretty well, Odom having his best year %-wise this year. And it’s interesting that you mention Ron not keeping the ball moving, which is at times true. However, his assists numbers are better than Odom’s. Regardless, they are both very good. Too bad one is kinda inconsistent and the other is kinda nuts.

Matter of opinion on that one
Odom’s all around abilities are different than Artest’s, but when it comes to all-around ability, I’d rather have Odom myself. Personal opinion.

Nice analysis by KD
He points out all of the reasons I’m not in the keep Artest camp:
What worries me more is that Artest wants to be on point. On the point. He wants to play point guard. If he can’t, then (ooh-ooh!) he wants to post this guy up. Can’t get the pass? Then he wants to meet the ball, and take his guy off the dribble.
And Forum Blue and Gold’s take:
In it, he mentions how Artest’s defensive influence has been mitigated recently by his refusal to work through screens or his roaming for steals

Okay...
...totally irrelevant and definitely immature, but the comments about the picture used in the article had me cracking up.
