After the Kings and Mavs combined for 78 free throws on Wednesday, Spencer Hawes was in no mood to talk about the officials, simply saying, "I don't know. I don't really want to comment on that. I don't know if I can get fined in Summer League, but I'd rather not risk it."

The fines mean a lot more when you are still on a rookie contract.

Also, are the ref’s in summer league rookies too? I know each player gets ten fouls in the SL but that doesn’t mean the ref has to use them all up.

I might also add that Jessica Alba is a championship piece, if he thinks Ron is too, more power to him. ;p -Kfan in Korea

If you don't use them

They’ll go to waste. There are starving kids in China who would love to have those fouls. You use up all those fouls before leaving the court, Mister.

I think the league should institute

Roll-over fouls. If you don’t use all your fouls in one game, they carry over to the next.

A guy like KMart could foul on every posession the last week of the season.

Had Spencer been better on both ends the Kings wouldn’t have gotten blown out. He was frustrated at the refs sure, but he also was frustrated with how poorly he and the Summer League 6 5 4 experienced.

Spencer's game

Has been driving me crazy this summer.

I know he’s trying to develop his sky-hook as his signature shot, but it needs a LOT of work. And is it just me, or does it seem that every time he’s around the hoop with the ball he’s a blocked shot waiting to happen?

Go up strong and finish, Hawes. Or in the words of the inimitable (and immensely irritating) Bill Walton, “Throw it down, big man! Throw it down!)
