Clutch City
Dear Sactown Royalty,
Jason Thompson has two game-winners in four games. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
We're relocating Team Ziller headquarters this weekend, so don't be alarmed if the content comes slowly. Work those FanPosts/FanShots!

Thompson’s played well in summer league, but there is no reason to go crazy or even call him the power forward of the future, yet.
BOOK IT!
Granted, it's just Summer League
but his showing that he can be that stud PF that we really, really, really, really need.
Justin Williams
Williams averaged like 15 boards/5 blocks per game in the last 2 summer league seasons and he barely even saw the light of day in regards to playing time. His last game with the Kings, he did a number on Yao Ming, which allowed us to win that game. The next day…the Kings cut him from the team. Oh, I was pissed when that happened.
Kings lost that game 87-89.
Justin Thompson actually had a +11 +/- for that game and Yao had a 0, but Yao still managed 25 points on 9-15 shooting, 14 rebounds, and went 7-8FT’s . Justin’s biggest contribution was 5 steals and 12 rebounds, going 2-4FT, and 1-5 from the field for 4 points.
The Kings paid him $38K during his time here where he missed several games due to either his lack of discretion, or his extortion by some bimbo. Pick one, I have no idea which version is true.
Jason Thompson is a player the Kings have committed to paying him 120% of his rookie scale this year which translates to $1,893,840.00.
Let’s hope Jason show us both more and less than Justin did.

It’s Justin Williams not thompson. Otherwise that’s good stuff there. I think.

Oh, hell!
Thanks for the correction and for understanding and translating KKanese.
Too many Justins and Jasons and Williams and Thompsons on this team in the last couple of years.
Still, my bad. Thanks again for fixing my mistake.

Really,
the Internet is amazing for what turns up in a safe search for “angry cat” pictures.
That one just cracked me up. Very funny, boys. At the next fork in the low road choose the left, it’s even lower. ; D

Yes, we definitely took the left/lower road at the last fork.

I’m sorry, but this is a classic section214 post that can’t be too exposed, at least in my opinion.

Hey
Don’t get me wrong… I’m really happy JT played great in Summer League. But summer league is summer league. Regular season is what I wanna see.
BOOK IT!
Why wouldn't any of us want to see that?
I think we were all looking for positive glimpses, and many of us saw that. I don’t think anybody thinks Justin Thompson is turning into Kobe Bryant just because he made GW baskets in summer league. People are a tad more realistic than that.

No a guy who has merited comparisons to Karl Malone
doesn’t deserve a smidgen of excitement. Not a single sliver of anything is exciting in that.

The Malone comparisons scare me
Couldn’t get it done, even on one of the single most stacked teams of all time
Here’s to hoping his Malone-esque in skills alone
The comparison doesn't scare me
because it obviously doesn’t apply to everything Malone did (or didn’t do for that matter). Like you mention, they are trying to compare their skills.
What I’m scared about is that everyone is throwing names here and there, praising him like crazy, when this is just summer league. I am one optimistic guy, but I just don’t want to get too excited. With all that said, I like his game and enjoyed watching him play these games, I just don’t want to get too high on this guy . When regular season comes I don’t want people getting on him for his rookie mistakes and start turning against him for not being the answer right away.
i think we're all smart enough to know what to expect in the regular season
the excitement just has to do with his skill set and his style of play. he may not be as talented as Malone, but what he brings to the table people are liking. he can run the floor, shoot some jumpers, grab rebounds, and he just plays tough
I'm not excited about stats or the Summer Leaguer
As I’m excited at the individual things he did on the court that can’t be simulated on any level. It was just the various abilities he showed on the court in the flow of the game. That’s what really impressed me.

Well
Ur right. Malone was never the mailman during the clutch. Malone got that name cuz he could light up his row of the scoreboard.
BOOK IT!
Yet
he was better than anyone we’ve had in the Sacramento era.

I think Malone gets a bad rap
Those Utah teams weren’t nearly as good as people remember overall. Stockton and Malone made up alot of weaknesses for those other guys. Name 6 other Jazz players in that era. I dare you. (The older guys may name 4. It’s hard though. And I grew up watching that team among others of the 90’s. Just too many no name guys in terms of NBA talent.)

Great Point
The 3rd best player – Jeff Hornacek. The 4th – Mark Eaton. ‘Nuff said.

Other than Adrian Dantley was there a legitmate all-star in Utah
during the 80’s and 90’s other than Stockton and Malone? (And of course before this decade with Williams and Boozer.)

You got me there
I suspect you could also name 4 utah jazz besides stockton & malone. I salute you.

More like CWebb than Malone
JT plays more like Webber. Short jumpers, good passer, some handles and athletic moves to basket. Malone status little to fast. Like the dribble skills. Shawes need some more power. Ewing good 13th man. Singletary worth a look for awhile show he can compete for BU PG.
After seeing both play in the summer league...
anyone out there that would still rather have Bayless?
No and Bayless has been pretty good.
JT looks like the real deal. I think GP might have solved many of the teams post problems.
Hot dogs, get your hot dogs.
If Udrih and JT both develop
I won’t pine for Bayless. And Bayless has been the best player in Vegas. And yes, so was Marco Belinelli last year.

whooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaa hold on
Just let JT be JT, he played well in summer league. It is just SUMMER LEAGUE. One thing summer league showed me is that there are a few things JT is going to need to adjust to when the real games start but he will adjust, he always has been able to adjust and improve his game throug out his career. I look forward to him playing with the veterans where he can blend in and be a contributing part of the team, he is not ready to carry the team or be compared to Karl Malone or Chris Webber, it would be awesome if those comparsons can be made in a couple of years. Please relax and don’t expect JT to dominate from game one.
Reminders vs. comparisons
I’ve seen a lot of comments saying that JT reminds them of a certain player, and I don’t think that there is anything wrong with that. Heck, most of the pre-draft talk revolves around things like Derrick Rose reminding people of Jason Kidd and such. I agree that drawing comparisons is not only unfair but impossible, given the fact that these young players have yet to play one NBA regular season minute. But I Think that it’s OK to say that Singletary reminds me (a little) of a young Tyus Edney, or that Jason Thompson reminds me (a little) of a young Karl Malone, or that Patrick Ewing Jr. reminds me (a little) of any young player with great athleticism that couldn’t shoot their way out of a paper bag.

Summer League player grades so far?
Douby A+ Basically carrying the team
JT A Dominant. Some rough edges
Hawes C Rebounds well, transition looks good. Shots not falling
Williams B+ Workman like performance. Playing a lot of 3 instead of Jr
Singletary C- Good D. Not much offense but a good and quick ball handler
Ewing D- Not contributing much. Some D. Comes out when game is on the line
The Kings have performed fairly well with the Summer League 6 on the court
Without Shelden Williams I think they lacked a physical performer to help them in some area’s of the more physical nature of the Summer League. (If that even exists.)
