Another trade idea...

Send Brad Miller + Douby or Brown to the Bucks for Ramon Sessions + Gadzuric + Mason

Sessions is the targeted prize in this proposed deal. Mason is an expiring contract. Gadzuric makes around half of what Miller makes in a season but has one more year on his contract sort of a salary dump.

PG: Beno, Sessions, Douby/Brown

SG: Martin, Mason, Jackson

SF: Salmons, Garcia, Greene

PF: Thompson, Shelden, Thomas

C: Hawes, Moore, Gadzuric

SAR retires.

What Jerry Reynolds would do to a name like Gadzuric.

Seriously

The kids are NOT ready to start. Let’s talk Miller trades at the deadline, not now.

Sac aren’t going to contend anyway they might as well collect future pieces.

The Bucks made a win now move when they added Jefferson but their frontcourt depth took a hit. Kings can give them that addition in the bigs.

In return Kings receive Sessions who IMO will be an elite point guard in the league sooner than later. Sessions is an expiring contract and a move near the trade deadline doesn’t give enough of an audition if the Kings look to lock him up next free agency.

you don't develop rookies by sending them into the wolves

They get tired, they get beat down, they hit the roookie wall.

I didn’t say the trade was bad, I said trading Miller just doesn’t make much sense right now. Plus, I’m about 95% positive his value will be significantly more near the deadline than it is now.

Agreed

I just don’t get the mentality of trading Brad at all costs, especially in this case, where Gadzuric and Hawes become our only centers, and Ramon Sessions takes less valued back up minutes away from B-Jax and/or Bobby Brown.

At this time next year Miller could have much more value – a high post center who is the best passing C in the game, in the last year of his contract. This would be a nice pet to have if the Kings were tp pursue a restricted free agent next year via the sign and trade route (eg. Granger, Warrick, Bogut, D.Lee, Millsap). Or you deal him to a team with cap room for a pick or a young player.

An important question that people seem to forget

Is how much does B-Jax got left? Is he worth slating 15-20 mins a night as a backup?

For now, yes

And you still have Brown.

I still find it interesting that every time I heard someone from the Rockets end describe this trade as giving up "Nothing"

It gives me a nagging feeling on exactly how much Bobby does have left in the tank. I”m probably singularly alone in this.

It's all relative

Bobby was probably the third PG on their depth chart, Greene is completely unproven at the NBA level, and their pick next year will be near the bottom of the first round if they get a high seed (which they expect to) in the playoffs.

For them, they gave up NOTHING they need for their Championship run to add a major piece . . . I don’t think it says anything about what Bobby has left or how much potential Greene has.

At least that’s how I see it.

by smgmatt on Aug 5, 2008 12:10 PM PDT up reply actions

Yet another poitn

Brooks was ahead of him as a 2nd year PG who got some time his rookie season. I second my point about Bobby perhaps not having much left in the tank. (I also think he knows it which is why he’s putting out feelers about becoming an assistant before his career is over. That doesn’t usually happen until a player like Bobby’s career is finished.)

Well...

He’s definitely on the tail end of his career . . . and I hope nobody expects the B-Jax of yesteryear to come back to town.

Bobby Jackson’s not walking through that door!

Oh, wait…

Miller's value

I completely agree that the Kings would not get maximum value if they trade Miller now. Last year of the contract and with the pot suspension a distant memory he will be much more valuable.

Never forget: I am a complete idiot

Disagree and agree

I think you develop young players by playing them. No one thinks LeBron James should have been brought along slowly.

I do agree that it makes sense to trade Miller in a year rather than now. There’s still a pretty wide effectiveness gulf between Miller and Hawes, Spencer can get heavy minutes this year even if he isn’t starting, and he’s only 20.

by Carl on Aug 3, 2008 9:50 AM PDT up reply actions

don't they still have Bogut?

And I’m pretty sure they just resigned him to a big fat contract. I don’t see why they would want B 52, then again, I guess if you are giving him away they will take him.
Overall, I know we are trying to rebuild with young guys, but I think with Jason Thompson, Shawes, E, Bobby Brown, whoever we keep out of PE2 and Singletary, the Landlord, and Douby we are all stocked up. We have a summer league all-star team already, I think there is value to keeping Brad around at least for a little while to help the younger guys along. In that same vein, maybe Bobby Jackson could help develop Douby and Brown? Couldn’t hurt.

I quickly

glanced at ESPN’s list of 2009 RFA’s. Scratch Bogut if he is extended. It was not meant to be a specific list. It was just there to make a point.

I think

TMH’s point about Bogut is not that he’s not a RFA, but rather that having him locked up means that the Bucks are not in need of a goofy, white, seven footer with a stupid accent.

Love you, Brad.

Can always Trade Brad Miller for Chicago Drew Gooden and Joakin Noah.
OR Brad Miller , Kenny Thomas for Chicago Adres Nocioni , Drew Gooden , Joakin Noah.

by Beer_man on Aug 1, 2008 1:26 AM PDT reply actions

I don't think

The Kings want to get near Nocioni’s contract. The first might work but that would leave the Kings with only Hawes as C. I don’t think Noah is a 5

by eduardo_m7 on Aug 1, 2008 2:00 AM PDT up reply actions

I don't know

The motivation. Is it an upgrade? I don’t believe so. Is it for the future? I don’t see it. This team also needs BMiller right now. He’s one of the key veterans. Now Mikki…..(though I LIKE the guy1)
