Spanish Olympic Team Controversy
Dont know if anybody has seen this but apparently the entire Spanish Olympic team had posed in a controversial picture for a Spanish ad. Sounds like word got out to the Chinese fans and they were booed like crazy in today's game against China.

I saw it on AOL
a couple of days ago. TZ may not appreciate the plug, but if you click on the “TZ at Fanhouse” link (down the right side of the front page, below the fanshots and featured stories) you can click on to his stuff. Always entertaining and informative.

I have no idea how something so obviously egregious could get past:
1. The players, some of which (like Pau) are reportedly quite worldly and high-minded.
2. The coaching staff.
3. The Spanish basketball federation.
4. The ad people at the Spanish newspaper it ran in.
Seriously, was no one thinking this might not be cool?
It seems that potitical correctness
"We did it because we thought it was going to be something nice, something with no problem," Calderon told Yahoo! Sports. "But somebody wants to talk about it. It is too much of a big deal with you guys (the media) and everybody talking about that."
And the head coach:
"If I go to play with a taller team and I put here (raising up on the tips of his toes) it is not an offense," Reneses said. "I can’t understand anything more."

I'm just glad
that they weren’t getting ready to play a women’s team.
