New Kings backup pg Bobby Brown talks about signing with the Kings, Summer League and the effects of not getting drafted.

"It's been my lifelong dream to play in the NBA and be a part of an organization like Sacramento, or any organization in the NBA. It's been a blessing, and I'm going take it at full-strength and play my hardest." -Bobby Brown

Stats

Anyone know what his stats were in Germany? His assist to turnover ratio in summer league was ridiculously good. I’m wondering if his European stats were similar. It sounds like he’s quick, athletic and can shoot. He’s also more of a point guard than a guy like Ronnie Price (who I like). The Kings just might have something if he doesn’t turn the ball over.

Looks like...

he averaged 16pts/3rb/4ast/1st/3to. He shot 47% from the field and 39% from downtown.

He had a game where he went for 44/7/7 – not bad, but makes me think he could be fairly streaky.

Hmmm - it appears those stats were only for the UELB Cup or something...
After not being drafted in the 2007 NBA Draft, Brown helped Alba Berlin win the German club championship last season, averaging 14.5 points (.433 FGs, .319 3FGs, .810 FTs), 4.1 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game over 16 outings. He averaged 17.4 points (.444 FGs, .404 3FGs, .857 FTs), 4.4 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game through nine contests in the UELB Cup.

That’s from the Kings initial press release.

Good stuff - thanks

The assist numbers seem low, but we don’t really know what kind of offense they were running. Chances are he’ll be behind BoJax in the rotation this season anyway. Unless he washes out completely, Brown will be the primary backup next season, so I’m interested to see him play.

As a team...

they averaged about 13.5 assists/game while putting up around 85pts/game. I’m not a heavily into stats, but that sounds like a pretty small number of assisted baskets to me.

I checked another site, and it appears someone with 4.6ast/game lead the league, so that might put his numbers in better perspective than the team statistics.

Assists

There are different – more strict – criteria for assists score keeping in Europe. Adjusting the playing time (40 minutes per game) and this, the difference might be around 1.5-2.0 as compared to NBA. Also, coparing the style of game, his numbers were pretty good.

Donner Kabobs?

This guy belongs in Northern California, no doubt about it.

Cal State-Fullerton

He dropped 47 points back in college in2006 and had 11 three pointers in a game once.
