Like usual
I’m going to say I agree with what Napear said in 2005, and wish Bobby well in his return now that he is back.
No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. It's simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get tangled, you tango on

If there's one King from the "glory years" I'd want to still have
It’d be Bobby Jackson. Unless Peja Stojakovic pre-back injury was available.

that he got at least one ‘mos’ definitely’ in there – I sure missed that.

So cool!
What a great presence he’s going to be, on and off the court.
Let's go home.-Kevin Martin

My favorite King
Did more with less and played harder than anyone on the floor. There is no vet I’d rather bring back than BoJax.

I just hope he doesnt play...
Coldblooded? maybe. But the only reason we took him was because he is an expiring contract similar to what Artest’s was. I like the leadership potential, and the glory-years linkage, but if you guys think he’s in our plans past this year, you are as w-r-o-n-g, as those misinformed Sacbee writers who were mad that we “let” Artest go.

Yeah I agree
I think some of what he’s saying is “I know I was traded for my expiring contract, so I’m just saying some of what I’m saying now, just to get through this season and save some face.” …But who knows. Maybe he’s going to play extra hard next season just to raise his stock and try to get re-signed. In all honesty, though, he’s not in the Kings’ long term plans. He was traded here to free up some salary and that’s the brutal truth.

hes not in the long term
but he said he would play for the veterans minimum after this season and i would give a veterans minimum to have back a guy like bobby jackson to show the young guys how to play the game for a few extra years, along with his leadership making the transaction easier

Of course
Bobby Jackson isn’t in the Kings long-term plans, at least on the court. The question for me is how good Bobby Brown is. If Brown is a good player, Bobby Jackson may have to split time with him this year. If Brown isn’t very good, or isn’t ready this season as he learns the NBA, he can wait till next year for major playing time.
Having said that, I think Bobby is going to make an absolutely GREAT coach, and could be kept on board next season for the veterans minimum as a player/ unofficial assistant coach who gets spot minutes. Bobby may not have a future with the Kings on the floor past this year, but I certainly hope he has a future on the bench.

I'd slow down with the hope that he doesn't play...
the other backup PG on the Kings roster (Brown) hasn’t played a single NBA game and I’m not sure it suits all players well to simply throw them to the fire. Bobby said himself that he’s looking to play 1 to 3 years, max, so I wouldn’t worry about anyone thinking (Bobby included) that he’s in our long-term plans as anything but a potential coach/assistant.

Agreed
Bobby is more insurance for a potential Beno injury or if Bobby Brown can’t play significant minutes as a backup. I doubt the team wants to play Garcia/Douby considerable minutes at the 1, so Bobby’s value lies in his ability to be a stopgap if needed.

I somewhat agree...
That as insurance, its nice to have a calming veteran presence on your bench. But as to re-signing BJax, I think that ship has sailed. Put him in a suit, put him on your bench, if you want him as a coach.
However, I suspect that it wont be that easy, for 2 reasons:
1. Veterans who want to play 1-3 more years, but dont have “it” (ala Sam Cassell) can just as easily become a distraction.
2. Reggie is not going to put him on his coaching staff. Coaches in potentialy insecure positions dont put such obvious future replacements on their bench. If Bobby wants to coach, i think he’ll have to cut his teeth somewhere else.

Your argument is severly flawed...
1) Since when has B-Jax ever had an attitude even approaching that of Cassell? Not only that, but did you miss the part about him being willing to sign for the veteran’s minimum after this year? That doesn’t exactly sound like a guy who doesn’t know his place and is going to become a distraction. Was Bobby ever a distraction here? I can’t remember a time, nor do I remember hearing he was a distraction in any other city he’s been to.
2) Reggie may not even be the coach after this season. The odds are even greater that he won’t be the coach after 2-3 more years, should Bobby stay on for the veteran minimum.

B-Jax
I love to watch the guy play….I root for him…he’s what makes being a fan fun. He may not be the most talented guy out there, but he’s always entertaining. With a young and upcoming team, that won’t do much this coming season, at least they will be fun to watch.

Let's not get overboard
Bobby is only here because he has an expiring contract. His injuries always frustrated me especially because it was year in and year out since 2003. Bobby is way past his prime and likely won’t be able to play major minutes. I’d love to be wrong but Bobby isn’t going to put more wins on standings.

Not sure where you're coming from...
I don’t see anyone going ‘overboard’ and predicting Bobby is going to play a ton of minutes, return to his form of old, and lead us to a bunch of wins.

Re: lets not get overboard
It’s not that I think people are talking up Bobby Jackson, but that they think hes even a factor. Hes not, he was a convenience in the Artest trade. What people here are talking about with Bobby, is what he was to us 5 years ago as a player, and not realizing what he is to the team today, which is future cap space. Even if Bobby is still with the team in two years, and Reggie Theus is out the door, I think there is little chance Bobby will be hired as the next head coach – maybe an assistant, maybe. I personally like the idea of Bobby coaching for us, or in a front office capacity.
By that time, however, our young pieces that we are acquiring today should be maturing, enough so at least that Petrie and the Maloofs will want to start seeing some W’s again, so it seems more likely that they’ll hire a more polished and experienced head coach, or assistant with a history of winning or at least proven tactical talent (ala Nate McMillan).

I don't doubt that Bobby will at least be considered for a position in the future.
Most likely as an assistant/front office guy, and not a head coach (just can’t see that one, not without first working as an assistant for quite a few years). Bobby seems to think a position is possibly there, and he’s the one who has spoken with the powers that be. Essentially, he has a year to mentor our young guards and show some signs that he can be a solid coach – at the very least, we get a fan favorite with a solid attitude (which I missed with Corliss gone).
