A preview of next season by RealGM
The preview seems to actually understand the mindset of what we all have been discussing about Petrie's plans for the future and gives him the respect he deserves. It may be a little generous even, depending on you optimism. My favorite quoteis from the power forward breakdown: "The good thing for Kings fans is none of these guys will be with the club in two years, and unless Williams’ fiancé rubs some talent off on him, he will be gone too."

Yep
Excellent preview. Thanks for the link. Rec’d.
I am really excited about our current roster. Everyone seems like a quality individual. Should have a nice team 1st environment. Haven’t been able to say that about the Kings for a long time, maybe since Divac left.

Glad I could contribute to the site
Sorry about the typos, the dialog box in the create fanpost page is quite hard to read.
I might also add that Jessica Alba is a championship piece, if he thinks Ron is too, more power to him. ;p -Kfan in Korea

Couldn't agree more, Except
I believe Williams moves into the rotation this year. And, we should know by game 6 of the regular season. And here’s why.
He came here in Feb so he only had a few months to learn our system. He scored a double double when he got to play in the last game against the Lakers. He had a good summer league. Plus an outstanding college career & rookie season in the NBA.
My guess is that SAR retires, and with Miller joining Thomas on the bench for the first 5 games of the regular season, that only leave 4 big men. Hawes starting at the 5 with Moore backing him up, and Williams and JT at the 4. Since this will be JT’s 1st NBA experience, I’m thinking Williams starts at the 4.
In game 6 Miller comes back. If Moore starts at the 4 and JT is 1st off the bench, say goodbye to Williams. But, if Williams continues to start at the 4, look to see Moore gone betore the trade deadline.

I’m almost sure Moore will start at the 4 next to Hawes for the first five games. Moore started every game he played last season.

The Landlord
Shelden Williams could become a productive NBA player and have a Reggie Evans/Eduardo Najera/Danny Fortson career. These guys are good pros, role players. But they are not huge minutes, prime rotation guys.

Mikki
Played in this game but didn’t start.
It was the game where his wife went to the hospital. I don’t think Mikki got to the game until late in the 2nd quarter.
Not to nitpick. It just stuck out in my mind because I was there.

6th game of the 08/09 season.
In the 1st 5 games of the 08/09 season Miller is suspended. That only leaves 4 Bigs to play the 4 & 5 spots. That’s assuming SAR either retires or isn’t in game shape. Last month at the Summer League he was quoted as saying he was only able to workout 3 days a week. And, I don’t think Thomas will work himself into the line up.
Either way, if Hawes starts at the 5, Moore or Williams or JT will have to back him up. I’m guessing Moore who played the 5 last year. That leaves the starting 4 to Williams or JT. I’d be really impressed if JT is able to pick up Reggie’s system and beats out Williams who has been in the League 3 years and played on the team last year.
If I’m right, and I’m not saying I am, Williams will have 5 games to show his value. And, in game 6 when Miller comes back & Moore doesn’t start at the 4 and Sheldon stays the rotation, it will make Moore expendable.

More likely scenario
Hawes and Moore start, Moore slides over to the five when Hawes comes out (for Williams, probably), Hawes re-enters later for Moore. Thompson could pick up a couple of minutes for Williams before Moore Re-enters.
Lather, rinse, repeat.

Agreed. However...
I couldn’t watch a season without some blind hope that the Kings could make the 7th or 8th playoff spot. I know it sounds silly but I can see the Kings being competitive with Dallas and Denver for the 8th playoff spot. Portland should be right up there in the 6th to 7th spot.
As far as clutch players go, Bibby removed himself from that list a few years ago. I recall Salmons, Martin and Garcia all making more than their share of clutch plays last year. My best case scenario is that Hawes, Thompson and Greene develop quickly and the Kings win between 45 to 51 games and barely make the playoffs. We can dream can’t we?

The only way I can see the Kings making the playoffs
is if JT can put up big Al Horford numbers, or Hawes shows drastic improvement. The main keys here are having at least one solid big man on the box and lowering the turn over ratio (which I think will happen).
