The military needs people

Spencer is of military age and fitness and apparently wants the war in Iraq to continue for four more years. As a supporter, doesn’t he have an obligation to enlist?

by Carl on Aug 31, 2008 12:24 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

No

Spencer knows that he can best serve his country by taking awkward elbow jumpers. I knew that the 20-year-old millionaire jock with a year of college under his belt was a political heavyweight, but I had no idea he was so well spoken. Could the reactionary Bill Bradley be a King?!?!?!

by furious.d on Aug 31, 2008 1:05 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Very well spoken

But he comes off as a little too much of an angry liberal-hating conservative rather than the type knowledgeable politico one could have a civil discussion with.

I agree

Don’t get me wrong. I sort of have a pet peeve against people on both sides of the extreme who never want to listen to their opponent’s point of view. Hawes is a good Basketball player nonetheless, though.

You'd think with how soft his game is,

he’d be a Democrat ;-p

I might also add that Jessica Alba is a championship piece, if he thinks Ron is too, more power to him. ;p -Kfan in Korea

You must ask yourself this:

Why would anyone bother impersonating a D-grade local “celebrity*?” Shoot me an email at the station if you’d like.

Tom... Curse you for bringing this up, seriously.

I hate losing friend’s and burning bridges but politics does exactly that, and this time it will be no different.

While I agree with Shawes it’s not for the same reasons. You all seem to conveniently forget how biased the media is against anything involving the possibility of a conservative movement.

No, I’m not some warmongering liberal-hating activist, in fact I encourage liberals to vote, everyone has the right, and deserves to have their opinion, and voting gives you that exact opportunity.

I support McCain and Palin for their stance on American Value’s. McCain being a combat veteran as my father understands what real sacrifice for his country is. And at the same time he has actually reached across party lines on multiple occasions even when I disagreed with him, but at least he has the audacity to try for the better of American people. Obama? Voted with his party over 99% of the time… in his two-years as senator… yeah great experience to be the president of the greatest country in the world.

How about Palin too? She has more experience then Obama in every single facet of politics. Her foreign policy experience includes but is not limited too overseeing the largest coastline of any state which also happens to be located to some of our closest friend’s the Russians, North Korean’s, and Canadians Now there’s a horrifying thought. She actually has executive experience, and her family actually supports real value’s and ethics. Her husband resigned from his oil company when she took public office in order to be sure that she wouldn’t be seen as advocating any time of nepotism in her discussions with oil company’s. She’s a hunter, a fisher, a brad miller without the pot smoking.

Joe Biden? One of his son’s happens to be a lobbyist who has benefited graciously at the expense of the American People. 36 years in the Senate, I beg someone to play name a major achievement aka bill he has helped write or been a prominent sponsor of. The man was against Reganomics that brought us out of the recession of the carter years, and he was against the Surge that has dramtically reduced violence in Iraq…. If you know of a major accomplishment Joe Biden has brought to america I would love to know it.

Obama? The man is supported by people who hate America *His wife, (refer to her Princeton thesis on the racial gap in America), the “honorable” reverend Wright… Tony Rezko, a felon, Bill Ayers a convicted domestic terrorist. I mean wow, I’m not big on guilt by association but this guy’s biggest supporters are people who would sooner blow up America to make a statement than take a diplomatic approach so often coveted by the democratic party…

Other talking points people might like to refer to? The war in Iraq… yeah it’s not popular because the media so often talking about our soldier’s dying (which is less often than people die in several major cities in America), compared to our accomplishments of people getting the opportunity to enjoy american rights such as free speech, and at the same time creating a major ally for us in a region ripe with political strife and hatred towards us.

Or how about taxes? Let’s be honest here, regardless of your tax bracket we all know everyone pay’s to much to our government save a few politicians who somehow get away with paying next to nothing. Be you rich, poor, ‘middle class’ we all pay too much. It’s not that we’re overpaying to fund wars, or domestic projects aimed at improving our society. We’re paying for our ridiculous bureaucracy that can’t get a thing done to save their life. Nancy Pelosi adjourns congress amid our biggest economic crisis since the banking crisis of the 80’s. Great. I’m so happy I can contribute to her salary, and that of her constituents who make over 6 figures a year to take a freaking vacation while we’re all paying 4$ a gallon at the pump.

Guess what, I don’t get 5 weeks off, especially when hell is breaking loose at work, neither should you. I’m getting long winded, so I’m going to end thigns here… but regardless of your party affiliation, everyone should have a basic understand of what is right, and what is wrong in both America, and the world in general.

If you like watching the U S of A get driven into economic turmoil, being reduced to a remedial existence because our economy is in a horrific receision and our politicians refuse to do nothing about it. Or if you like watching major american accomplishments WTC get blown up along with american lives because someone can’t find a better way to show their disagreements than by blowing us up, then please, continue voting for the liberal agenda that further plunges us down the totem pole of integrity in favor of communism, and terrorism.

Good day to you STR.

P.S. Shawes work on your delivery. You’re a great american but you need to do your homework a little bit more.

thank you for saying what needed to be said about Iraq!

If it wasn’t for the liberal media, that war would be so friggin’ popular!! I mean, what’s not to love about an unnecessary war that costs us $10 billion a month? Those damn liberals! I say, as long as more Americans are dying in Detroit than in Baghdad, then let’s continue fighting! The problem isn’t the war, the problem is that the news is so focused on the negatives, and doesn’t spend nearly enough time talking up the positives….(what are the positives again?)…

I hate to nitpick, especially as an independent, but which party has been running the country while all of this has been going on?

And Communism? Really? I know you’re out of ideas when you get all Joe McCarthy.

God Damn It!
Obama? The man is supported by people who hate America *His wife, (refer to her Princeton thesis on the racial gap in America), the "honorable" reverend Wright… Tony Rezko, a felon, Bill Ayers a convicted domestic terrorist. I mean wow, I’m not big on guilt by association but this guy’s biggest supporters are people who would sooner blow up America to make a statement than take a diplomatic approach so often coveted by the democratic party…

I was perusing through your post, deciding if I wanted to read the whole thing, when I saw this part. Are you kidding me? Michelle Obama writing about the racial divide in America? Explain to me how there isn’t a racial divide when most minorities live close to or below the poverty line? And Wright? He’s an idiot with some nutjob views, but he was Obama’s pastor for 20 years. The man had enough integrity to try and fix things with someone who he had been close with for a long time before just casting him off for the sake of his campaign. And what about Rezko? Basically, Barack wanted to by some extra land adjoined to the property he already owned. That land was owned by Rezko. Now he’s associated with the man? And lastly, the whole Ayers connection is ridiculous! They served on the Board of a Chicago charitable organization for Christ’s sake!

All of these supposed associations are just loads of crap fed to the media so that they can be completely embellished and make a deserving candidate look bad. The man’s been attacked for people he knows or has met. He’s been criticized endlessly for not wearing a flag pin or putting his hand on his heart during the National Anthem (not the Flag Salute like some people believe). And how many times has it been said that he’s Muslim? All of it is unfounded and ridiculous bullshit

And this is where the thread gets closed
How about Palin too? She has more experience then Obama in every single facet of politics.

This is absurd. Two years ago today, Palin was mayor of a town with less than 10,000 people. She has more experience in every single facet of politics? Tell me about her long, grueling national campaign to beat a candidate from one of the two most powerful families in modern politics? How’s her time on the Senate Foreign Relations committee going? How about the time she spent teaching Constitutional Law?

You do realize that the four county Sacramento metropolitan area alone has more than triple (2.1 million) the population of Alaska (700,000), right?

Her foreign policy experience includes but is not limited too overseeing the largest coastline of any state which also happens to be located to some of our closest friend’s the Russians, North Korean’s, and Canadians

You’ve got to be kidding me. Please, please tell us more about how the Russians, North Koreans and Canadians are attacking the Alaskan coastline on a regular basis. What does “overseeing” mean? What interaction has she had with those foreign governments? Quick geography lesson: North Korea is 3,700 miles from Alaska. The northern ends of both Alaska and Russia are all but completely uninhabited. Relating to Canada is not a qualification to be President.

I beg someone to play name a major achievement aka bill [Biden] has helped write or been a prominent sponsor of.

Violence Against Women Act of 1994 (VAWA). Look it up.

this guy’s biggest supporters are people who would sooner blow up America to make a statement

This is just horseshit. You’ve completely lost any credibility at this point.

The war in Iraq… yeah it’s not popular because the media so often talking about our soldier’s dying

If only the media didn’t cover dead soldiers, the war would be popular. How dare they?

(which is less often than people die in several major cities in America),

This is bullshit even if you place no value at all on the 10’s or 100’s of thousands of Iraqis killed. Which you apparently do not.

Or how about taxes? Let’s be honest here, regardless of your tax bracket we all know everyone pay’s to much to our government save a few politicians who somehow get away with paying next to nothing.

Really? Because the Warren Buffet, who happens to be the world’s richest person, thinks he should pay MORE taxes, since his tax rate is lower than his Secretary’s.

Personally, I’m not going to bitch about my taxes. They pay for the military, firefighters, education, the police, roads, Social Security and the levies that ensure my house doesn’t flood. If my house DOES flood, National Flood Insurance I bought will replace it. If my bank goes under, the government protects my assets. Is the government perfect? Hell no. But I’m not going to constantly bitch and moan about how much I pay without recognizing all the things those taxes buy me.

Great. I’m so happy I can contribute to her salary, and that of her constituents who make over 6 figures a year to take a freaking vacation while we’re all paying 4$ a gallon at the pump.

What the hell are you talking about? What taxes of yours go to Nancy Pelosi’s constituents? If you want to pick on somebody, try Halliburton. You do realize that the hundreds of billions of dollars going to Halliburton in Iraq are in fact going to Dick Cheney’s former company, which is not based in San Francisco, CA, Pelosi’s district? Right? Or are you immune to facts?

Oh, and speaking of vacations, George Bush has taken more vacation days than any President in history.

You do know who has been running the government over the last eight years when all those things happened, don’t you? Hint: It’s not the liberals.

regardless of your party affiliation, everyone should have a basic understand of what is right, and what is wrong in both America, and the world in general.

Yes. Starting with you. Your grasp of the facts is thin at best. Try engaging your mind before shooting off your mouth.

Experience doesn't mean much

Sure, if there was a governor running for office, they’d have clout. You can have all the experience in the world in the Senate and it wouldn’t amount to much, since you’re not really governing. Senators vote, debate, and pass bills through. They don’t really have much more power than that.

As an Independant, I was half and half tilting towards Obama. McCain’s pick for Palin to become the VP really blew the boat over for me. She wants no abortion, even if the mother’s life is at risk, none in cases of rape, or anything like that. She wants a constitutional ban on gay marriage and doesn’t even support civil unions. She wants creationism to be taught in science classes. She’s the anti-liberty. …She’s George Bush 2.0 and I don’t want her running for president once McCain leaves office, if he’s elected.

I just can’t support a guy who sounds more and more like George Bush the more I listen to him, regardless of his past credentials and decisions.

Also I'd like to point out...

…that all I got from reading your post was fear and paranoia over people who don’t agree with you. Case and point…

continue voting for the liberal agenda that further plunges us down the totem pole of integrity in favor of communism, and terrorism.

So, how exactly are Liberals in favor of “terrorism?” Actually…define terrorism for us. Enlighten us all.

This is what I don’t like about the right wing. I’m more afraid Joe Schmoe is going to mug me, while I’m walking down the street, rather than a terrorist attack. Catching criminals and thugs that mean America harm is good and all, but restricting liberty in the name of catching terrorism is a whole different ball-park.
