'sup ziller, we'll try this again :)
briefly looking at the schedule, the kings kind of got a weird draw this year. open up with an east coast roady. and the finish the season on the road for two as well. prediction, 35-38 wins. i don’t see much improvement in the win total from last year, but i don’t foresee a large drop off either. the young guys will continue to grow. they will take their hard knocks. artest really didn’t win any games on his own last year (maybe 3 or 4) but i think the young guys could suprise. for the first time we can honestly say we have athleticism. even with the departure of ron-ron, donte will definitely be more athletic. obviously we lost a premier defender in ron-ron, but hopefully donte can learn and the fact that he is 6’ 11” at the 3 spot won’t hurt either.
the schedule is what it is. but they are going to have to play the team that is in front of them that particular night. the west will be tough as always, with probably the top 6, maybe even 7 playoff teams set (order only left to be determined) and them 3 or 4 teams fighting for the last spot or two.
the other underestimated thing going into this year will be a young team with theus. most of the kids on the team don’t even remember that he played in the NBA and if they do remember, they probably never saw him. will they listen to him or tune him out early. will they get down because they probably will be out of the playoffs by the all-star break?
bottom line is, i am still excited about this coming year. they were competitive in every game last year and will that carry over? pretty sure martin will get the ball at the end, will he be able to capitalize? a lot of things to watch for this year, eventhough championship is out of the question, but the playoffs? in the immortal words of Jim Carrey in Dumb & Dumber: “So you telling me there’s a chance”

will they get down because they probably will be out of the playoffs by the all-star break.I don’t think Kevin will let the team sort of give up if they’re out of the playoffs. If Ron did anything good for this team, of was his never say die attitude. This rubbed off extraordinarily well on K-Mart and he’s now ready to lead the team by example and vocally.
when will the Kenny Thomas Reign of Terror end?!!??

no prob
i figured. i guess time will tell about martin. will he be the emotional leader on the floor or is he going to pull the brad miller “i am going to try hard this year” stuff with his leadership spout?

I think the difference between brad and kevin
is that kevin is doing all the right things to be a leader. He’s working with spence and the rookies and in the weight room as well. While brad goes back to Indiana every summer to get caught smoking, kevin goes to the summer league to help and see the young guys progress.
Also kevin was invited to the Olympic reserve team and was the best player on that team, playing very well against the likes of wade, melo, and Kobe. I know brad was a member of the Olympic team, but only was because there weren’t any decent bigs at the time who would commit to the team.

Not sure about the 'Toughest Stretch'
I have no idea how good or bad GS will be, Phx is on my list of ‘could collapse this year’ teams and Denver may have given it up….
By March, the young guys could be getting good.

ummm...
GS – Biedrins, Monta, Al Harrington, Captain Jack-O – hardly a weak team
Phx – Shaq + Amare = lots of trouble for a team without andy strong bigs.

Biedrins?
Biedrins doesn’t impress me, Monta Ellis is a good scoring player – but a starting PG? we’ll have to see, Al Harrington is getting a long in the tooth. Anyway, my point is that that team has changed a lot and I’m not convinced is a better ‘team’.
PHX: Shaq very old, Nash, is this the year he finally misses some sig games? He sure seemed to slow down towards the end of last year. Amare – might be available by the end of the year if all blows up….
Dallas will also sink some, JKidd is REALLY slowing down, discontent may brew…..
SA – Very, veeeery old team, and injury to one of Duncan, Ginobli (who seems to be showing signs of the wear and tear of how he plays) or Parker, the only youngster in the starting line-up…. They can’t go on forever. I mentioned it before somewhere, isn’t this the year they have that major injury, miss the playoffs and miraculously get the #1 pick?

Nope
...isn’t this the year they have that major injury, miss the playoffs and miraculously get the #1 pick?
Technically, that would have been last year.
Robinson – #1 in 1987
Duncan – #1 in 1997
Oden – #1 in 2007
Oden/Duncan could have been just as exciting as Duncan/Robinson.

so 27 or 28 now counts as "long in the tooth"?
ill buy that MAYBE one of those teams is out of the top 9 next year but no way that all four or even three of those teams are dropping off significantly

Even if the Suns and GS fall, they fall anywhere close to where the Kings will be next year.

Actually
No Kings games scheduled on February 14.
That kinda ruins Valentine’s Day for me.
Though Mikki Moore in the Skills Challenge would make up for it.

Is he wrong?
I mean, seriously. The Kings have a chance to beat Toronto, but otherwise that stretch is goint to be a lot of trouble. And this whole site exists for the sole purpose of couch coaching.

Really?
this whole site exists for the sole purpose of couch coaching.
Damn, and I thought the purpose of this site was to prod Ron into mouthing off and forcing GP to trade him. ;p
