Are the Rockets clearing roster space for additional Kings?
Curious timing...just wondering.

That IS interesting...
Maybe it’s just the wine talking, or maybe it is the timing, but for some reason this does seems odd. Could there be something else we don’t know about? I guess only time will tell, and while I wouldn’t bet on it, I wouldn’t bet against it either. (I swear I don’t have a gambling problem. To prove it, I’d even give you 3:2 odds)

Oh, dear!
Was the first thing that popped into my head (heard in the adorable voice of my 3yo niece trying to copy her mommy).
I hope I still love this trade on 8-14-08.
To NG, they’re not giving up enough to take on K9’s contract. . I think they’re basically swapping 2nd round draft picks in 2011 for him. Where’s pookey when you need him?

Well...
Weren’t we suppose to send them one (or even both) of our second round picks – Singletary and Ewing Jr. They may be making room for both to coming in

Don't know what happened there. Sorry
I’d guess they are clearing cap space to avoid the luxury tax. According to Sham Sports they’re at 69.6 million. If what we send them is more $ than what comes our way, it could put them over the tax.

My guess would be that they are freeing up space under the tax and roster spots for one or both Sacramento second-rounders … or Carl Landry.

or it could just be that Novak sucks and they don't want him on their roster.
I’m hoping that the Kings have included Douby so we can watch Bobby “Jackson-Brown” play (and now we have a nickname for our all Bobby backcourt). Seems that a lot of people around here have been mesmerized by the Douby during this off-season…look into my uni-brown and repeat after me, I am an NBA player, I am an NBA player.

The UniBrow is the source of all power in the known universe. I don’t think people are “mesmerized” – just pulling for him a little harder. Man, I love the ban on that’s what she said. As I can now applaud Douby’s length and his tenacity for attacking the ball ond defense even though he’s shorter than the opposing player, imposing himself defensively and gunning for the rim offensively.

Running the numbers
Based on the ESPN trade machine’s contract numbers, the Rockets have $67,247,489 in salary post-Artest trade and the luxury tax is 71.15 million. That leave the Rockets $3,902,511 to play with. They previously said they would be willing to use the MLE to re-sign Landry. My guess is that they’re freeing up moey to re-sign Landry at $3.5 million per year or so.

Sounds like perfect sense to me, and that’s certainly much better than what I said. (It’s easy to forget about Landry with allt he Childress, Deng, Smith and Okafor talk bandied about.)

If I had to guess
I would say they’re clearing space to take back Ewing Jr and keep on him on the roster for some reason. Maybe they think a role player like Ewing Jr who is a husting type would be more valuable than a shooting stand alone type like Novak. That’s my alone and single guess. And unless salary sites are wrong, and they always might be, the Rockets aren’t on the verge of the luxury tax like the Kings are. So, there are a multitude of probabilities. My guess is that August 14th holds the true answer.

Well it appears that it will be Singletary and Ewing jr heading to houston with Bill Bill

I might also add that Jessica Alba is a championship piece, if he thinks Ron is too, more power to him. ;p -Kfan in Korea

This almost means that the Kings weren't prepared to keep Singletary long term after his Summer performance
It also means, assuming this blurb from real gm is true, that Bobby Brown is the player they’re interested in long term.
