Trade away the 2008 MVP???
Quincy you can get rid of but I thought we were all in agreement that keeping Shelden meant keeping Candace???

Kudos to Petrie
This is what needs to happen for both players. Quincy is going to be easy to trade because of his relatively low salary. Quincy actually needs the trade worse than Shelden does. Douby hasn’t done the one thing (shoot the ball) that he’s supposed to do well, so without a trade he’s absolutely going to be fighting for his NBA career next preseason.
Shelden is a big, strong physical player. He can be effective in limited minutes on the right team (Utah, for one).

Continuing
What I meant to say is that Shelden won’t have any trouble making an NBA roster. He may have trouble getting playing time, but someone will take a chance on him. Douby does not have that guarantee at this point, so he needs a trade to earn it.

I'd like to hear
Getrealdude’s take on this.
It is unfortunate that Douby wasn’t ever able to get something going. His explosive scoring during summer league will leave me a bit uneasy about getting rid of him. But that was just summer league and he has had his chances.
In the end, Douby needs an opportunity elsewhere, anywhere. I hope that one day we look back and regret his inevitable departure, while I also hope he won’t hold it against us for moving on.

Douby has had all the chances he is going to get...
I dont think there is another team that looks at Douby and sees potential. I don’t care how many 3’s this kid can hit in pratice, there is a disconnect between pratice and gametime. There are a long list of pratice princes that washed out of the league because when the lights came on there was no action. Douby falls into this unfortunate catagory. I dont believe he will ever emerge from being a pratice squad/sumer league hero. Maybe some time in the D-League would help him but I for one have seen enought to say that he is done in the NBA. As for Sheldon Williams, he may be one of the biggest busts in NBA History. SIXTH OVERALL?? For WHAT? Man, I cant believe Atlanta pawned off that POS on us. Makes you wonder where our GM’s head is planted. I can only hope that Williams is shipped out for something. As it is, we lost Bibby and got nothing in return but trash. Expiring trash, but trash just the same. Same for Webber, we got trash in return, trash that we havent been able to move and now is piled up at the end of our bench in the mound of dung that is Kenny Thomas. So let me get this straight, we have traded Bibby, Webber, and Artest and we have

you rolls the dice and takes your chances
sometimes, well you get craps.
Shelden is a bust due to his draft position – he was a college star from a big name program with an NBA body. Atlanta should be blamed, not Shel Williams. Agree, he can be bench productive.
Quincy was also a Div I scorer when visiting teams keyed on him. He has skills. He could have been Chris Jackson. He has the same resume as Kevin Martin (and to a lesser degree, Davidson’s Stephen Currey). He is well described as a practice prince. He works hard and maybe, just maybe, he can be in the league. If not, Q should do very well, if he can put his head around it, a very good Euro player. I continue to applaud the Kings front office for taking responsibility in “doing right by the kid”. That stuff makes me proud to be a Kings Fan.
FastRmAn – are you saying that you would prefer to still have CWeb? Are you saying that we should have kept Bibby and leave KMart as the third option? You wanted to keep the mercurial Ron Artest, to re-sign, or to walk? It is nice to paint the canvas of yesterday with the paint brush of today – wouldn’t we all – but dude, get real.

Erm -
Had we held onto Bibby we could not have afforded to extend Martin. So, it wasn’t Williams for Bibby. It was Bibby for expiring and cap space, with Williams as a low cost throw in prospect. He didn’t pan out, and he’s done here after this year.
Same with Webber. Had we held him, it would have meant dismantling the team a lot faster (Peja for expiring instead of Artest, for example, which would mean no Donté or Houston’s pick). Maybe that would have been the way to go, in retrospect. But no one was calling for that at the time.
