Teams' Records Since Coaching Changes
After the loss to Washington last night I wondered where Kenny Natt stood among the Wizards' Ed Tapscott and the four other coaches that replaced the previous head coaches. The answer is not pretty.
Tony Dileo, Philadelphia 76ers (11-7) 0.611
Kevin McHale, Minnesota Timberwolves (9-12) 0.428 Note: T'Wolves have won last 7 of 9 games.
Jay Triano, Toronto Raptors (8-19) 0.296
Ed Tapscott, Washington Wizards (8-22) 0.266
Scott Brooks, Oklahoma City Thunder (8-22) 0.266
Kenny Natt, Sacramento Kings (4-15) 0.210
Another way to look at it, the Kings are 3-9 since Martin's return and 1-6 without him since Natt took over. However, it's hard to believe that he has a shot at getting the head coaching position next season with his record. Keeping in mind that K-Mart was healthy for only the first 7 games, Reggie's record was 6-18.

Not really sure about this
I think one thing that McHale is proving, is that he can keep a team together. He is a quality coach, despite what people think, and clearly understands what he wants his players to do. It makes a difference, after all.
As far as DiLeo, the Sixers have a good deal of talent. They were, in a way, freed from the constraints of working their offense from Brand (from the start a bad idea), and so in a way, it’s making DiLeo’s record look better than it should. The Sixers were considered a top 4 team in the East to start the season, and now they’re at the bottom of the playoff picture. That doesn’t exactly mean a whole lot in comparison to Kenny Natt.
Go over to BulletsForever. See how much respect they’ve got Ed Tapscott. And if you read Prada’s preview to yesterday’s Bullets/Kings game, you’ll see the difference he see’s in the 2 franchises. It’s not exactly glowing from the Bullets end.
Now, as the saying goes, the grass is greener on the other side. Yes, Natt has flaws in what he’s done as a coach. But, that is not all his fault. This franchise, and particularly this group of players, is the wrong mix. It’s up to Geoff Petrie, not Kenny Natt, to fix the mix.

Wanted Defensive minded Coach - others need not apply
I wasn’t for Theus’s firing, & I’m not totally dissatisfied with Natt. But, watching the pathetic way that the Kings Bigs defend the pick & roll, I’ve come the the realization that yes we do need a defensive teaching coach asap. It’s going to take more than just spring training for a new coach to teach this team to play defense.
Besides Brad, Martin may be the worst help defender on the team. Time and time he gets frozen, trying to decide between getting in front of the basket to stop penetration, and running out to defend the 3pt shooter. We need to start teaching a new defensive stategy now. Don’t wait until the summer to hire a new coach, start now. Then by the end of next year some of the players may start getting the idea of how to play defense.
