Damn work
I’ll miss all those games and the Kings game. Don’t work in retail my friends. Go Kings tonight.
Scarcity
The can clean my house, or I can watch basketball. Doing one will prevent me from doing the other. Sadly, the house needs to be cleaned. If I ignore college ball I should be able to be done in time to catch the Kings.
Never forget: I am a complete idiot
No one has mentioned this yet about Blake I think but....
If we were to get the #1 pick, I’m pretty sure we could get multiple first round picks from Oklahoma in exchange for it because:
1. Despite their yearly draft of big men, Oklahoma(Seattle) never really got a good one, so they’ve gotta be getting desperate.
2. BG is from Oklahoma, the fans would have a shit-fit if they don’t get him this year.
Just thinking about it makes me rub my hands together in evil glee.
Or maybe a future pick down the road
(I"m concerned that the 2009 draft may turn out like the 1990 draft.)

+1
The Kings would be sitting pretty with the #1- especially if the Thunder landed the #2. I wouldn’t mind Jeff Green and maybe even a future #1 for a swap of picks. You still land Rubio and you get a real small with rebounding skills for the next decade. Pipe dreams are awesome.
Hot dogs, get your hot dogs.
I keep thinking
Don Nelson might fall in love with Blake Griffin and trade is Brandan Wright and whatever pick they have.
Pipe dreams are indeed awesome.
I posed that question a few days ago
but in-thread.
Would you trade Griffen, say down to get Thabeet (or other) + what would probably still be a lottery pick from that team next year?
C-29, Oklahoma has come right out and said they ‘plan’ to get Griffen (whatever that means).

Where have you read that?
Or do you just read the mystical thoughts of Sam Presti? (Please link stuff so we can see what you mean. It helps in supporting your arguments. Especially if you are saying something that isn’t necessarily well known. FYI for you & everyone else.)

I definitely would
But it’s tricky and risky. If we could trade down and come away with, say, Teague and a future 1st or Teague and a very promising young player like Jeff Green or Brandan Wright I think you have to do it, particularly since we already have a very good young PF.
nbrans save yourself
don’t try and understand Don Nelson, it’s like predicting a Geoff Petrie draft pick. You might never recover.

And it might be possible
That a game of Joventut Badalona with Ricky Rubio will be streamed here. (I think it’s like 3.30am of the Pacific Time or so)

This morning?
Are you serious KFcFE? Son of a fucking bitch motherfucker. I hate working Graveyard, and the timing oh the timing, I haven’t even gone to work all week cuz of a bad cold, and the night I go back, is the night Rubio is streamed online. Go fucking figure.

ESPN announcers
just talked about how Thabeet won that last game at Villanova by being a stopper on defense at the end.
A big block yes, but changing the game on other possessions as well, changing shots.
I’ll be watching and/or recording what should be a serious game against a good Notre dame team.

LOOK FOR
Tyreke Evans is on Memphis and we should watch him as well when they play Tennessee. Tyreke is a freshman combo guard at 6’5" that has great handle and can shoot well. He is a solid prospect as a possible NBA combo guard ala Dwyane Wade. Not as good but he should be kept an eye on.
Kings rule! (They are royalty - right?)
I was reading DX
And the writeup wasn’t that flattering of him.

Thing about Tyreke
Is that he’s a very good ballhandler (and Calipari has him running the point), and he has good moves going to the hoop. The rest of his game? Not so much. Not a good shooter, has really funny form on his jumper, not really able to pull up. He’s not really a combo guard and not much of a passer, much more of a pure SG. And given how raw he is, he’s going to need time to develop, and he’s not going to get any time in Sacramento behind Kevin Martin.
Sounds like he should take the 3 years in college route
And let Calipari work off some rough edges.

I happened to be in Memphis a month or so ago
and asked various people about this years’ team and their new prized frosh, Evans. Locals unaminously think the kid has talent galore but his game lacks restraint and IQ. I agree, he needs more seasoning.

The game's at 5:30 not 3
The American economy is in bad shape. I am still an American.
The Kings Franchise is in bad shape. I am still a Kings fan.
Bleed purple. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
Are you talking about the DKG Joventut game?
Cuz my statement still applies. I work from 12 to 830. LOL

No luck 4 the Rubio showcase

I watched some of the Tennessee-Memphis game
and both of those teams sucked. Some athletes who didn’t look like they could play hoops.
The Virginia Commonwealth-George Mason game was better. Ed Sanders could be a prospect. Tall, fluid, good hands, lomg wingspan, nice turnaround jumper, shotblocker.

Tennessee in particular
Is filled with athletes who play like idiots. All three of Tyler Smith, Wayne Chism and Scotty Hopson have NBA size and athleticism, and look like they have the makings of some NBA-level skills. Chism in particular is extremely athletic, 6’8"/6’9" and can play inside and out. But Bruce Pearl is such a terrible coach and they’re such idiots that it’s hard to get a real read on their prospects at the next level. None of them play any defense and just do whatever they want on offense.
Make that
Larry Sanders. 6-9 sophomore PF-C.
Maynor, the VCU point guard, also looked interesting. He projected to be a bottom-half of first round pick.

Sanders might be the type of prospect (assuming the Kings take Rubio or Teague or somebody like that with the higher pick), that the Kings could put in their rotation with Shawes & JT. Thanks for throwing his name into the mix. (I have preferred options here. But, that’s me.)

Checking Out Harrangody
He is impressing me on Notre Dame. Very crafty scorer and a great rebounder. He seems to have a high basketball IQ. Not sure if he would be a good late first round pick for the Kings since they need athleticism and defense. Still, he could be a decent NBA player
Kings rule! (They are royalty - right?)
Agreed
Not for the Kings but might be good on a team that needs a skilled forward that can score inside and out.
Also, after watching the game, I don’t see Thabeet as being athletic. He hasn’t dunked once and lays up 2 ft. shots. NO thanks. He is a defender only and not good enough there. I also don’t see any real basketball IQ from him. Thabeet = Kings? NO
Kings rule! (They are royalty - right?)
I wouldn't be surprised
if by the time Houston’s pick comes up we trade it for a player already in the league – maybe JJ Hickson or similiar unless someone they really want has slipped down.
My top 10
Which will change 236,312 times between now and the draft:
1 – Rubio
2 – Griffin
3 – Holiday
4 – Monroe
5 – Teague
6 – Harden
7 – Hill
8 – Curry
9 – Jennings
10 – Thabeet
SACTOWN ROYALTY - Try our thick creamy shakes!
Holiday over Teague?
I mean, Rubio…. you know where I stand.
But Holiday? What have you seen to like?
Top ten overall?
Is this for the Kings to draft or just who you feel should be drafted in general?
Kings rule! (They are royalty - right?)
My top 10 for the Kings
Harden would be higher up on my overall list.
SACTOWN ROYALTY - Try our thick creamy shakes!
He'd have to be
He’s considered a surefire top 5 pick right now.

I'm a Bruins fan
I’ve watched a lot of UCLA games, and I respectfully disagree with your assessment. I see him as similar to Westbrook, and I would love to have Westbrook right now.
SACTOWN ROYALTY - Try our thick creamy shakes!
Well -
Defensive tenacity, the ability to get to the rim.
Remember, we are in January. Westbrook really started to break out at about this point last year. I think that Holiday has been very good for a freshman. The 2nd half of the season (including the NCAA’s) should be interesting.
SACTOWN ROYALTY - Try our thick creamy shakes!
I'll keep watching, and I agree the 2nd half should be interesting
I’ve now watched 5 UCLA games this season and I’ve never once seen him drive to the rim except on a fast break. Maybe I’ve just seen the wrong games. Just curious about your thoughts, you’ve probably seen more than I have.
Thabeet
Watched the UConn game today, some thoughts:
Thabeet is R-A-W. Defensively, he could one day be one of the greatest backstops ever, but offensively, he has shockingly little game. He appears to be athletic enough to get a whole lot better, but it won’t be very soon, I don’t think. the Kings are going to be drafting way too high to look seriously at this kid. But as ever, you can’t teach someone to be 7’3".
That Harangody kid, can, ahem, FLAT OUT PLAY. Apologies to nbrans…
Seems like a lot of skill and heart at 6’8". He’s more of a PF for the Irish, but can that kid play a 3 in the NBA? I dunno, I was impressed by the range of skills he showed against a good UConn team. At 6’10" he’d be a lottery pick. Hell, he might still be.
Rocks are free, and slingshots easily stolen.
Thabeet can just stop drives to the rim and dunk
for a year or so. I’m fine with that.

Call me a conspiracy theorist. ..
but when number one picks are as clear as it is in this year’s draft, I think territorial picks make a comeback.
Hakeem to Houston
Derrick Rose to Chicago
Lebron to Cleveland…
We should be very prepared to see Griffin go to OKC.
