The (unobstructed) View From Section 214

This could be you!!!

Guess who has tickets to Sunday's Kings-OKC game? The answer is it could be you!!!

Mrs. section214 has just minted a fresh list of chores for me prior to the Super Bowl, and that means Mr. p-whipped here needs to give up his tickets for what could be the least attended basketball game in Kings history. Imagine the stories that you will be able to tell your grandkids. Revel in the unobstructed sight lines. Pee in two urinals at the same time.

And the best part - they're free! That's right. I can't look myself in the mirror and put these out for sale, so they're free...parking not included...that could be a deal breaker...

The game starts at noon - I promise lots of available (though not free) parking.

The first one to email me and promises to post a "View From Section 214, SB Edition" gets 'em. Be sure and give me your ID info and I will leave them at will call for you, as I am going to the game tonight. I'll post in the thread here as soon as we have a "winner."

Ready...set...go!

And 1 - Reggie Theus is on the tickets. It just gets better and better...

I saw this

a minute after you posted it. And thought about it for a whole 15 seconds before deciding that these tickets would arguably make my life a tiny bit worse that Sunday (by comparison of everything else I could be doing).

I do appreciate the offer.

My life being "worse" is an exageration btw

I think I’m more shocked right now that I would feel so “meh” about a Kings game.

They're yours!

Condolences Congratulations! Email me back with the name for whom I should leave the tickets. I’m really looking forward to your throw up write up on the game.

WOW

I’m guessing a few people won’t know what that is. Their ensuing Google search will be interesting.

Whatever you are paying him to take the tickets, I’ll take ’em for 5 bucks less. ;)

I'll be there

I really need some peace and quiet. I thought about going for a hike in the woods or something, but figured ARCO would do.

How much is parking?

Is it bad

that I would consider not taking free tickets because parking costs $10?

by vfettke on Jan 30, 2009 3:55 PM PST up reply actions

If it ain't the parking

The beer prices could be a deterrent. My favorite option is to have a few cheapies in the parking lot and get one good microbrew from the dude near section 119 (next to the garlic fries).

Also

If you are going with a buddy, $5 each for parking’s not so horribly bad.

You could..

Split a garlic fry, but they you couldn’t have a conversation because your breath would be rancid. Too bad, because you need something to do while the game is on…

100 more less

I predict 100 people will be at this game.

by MakaveliTheDon on Jan 30, 2009 4:31 PM PST reply actions

If there is 100 people at this game

Then there are 100 people who either dont know what NBA Basketball actually is, or there are 100 forum trolls that picked up tickets at the will call left to them by a generous and intelligent benefactor…

Negative much?

Can I really beat a free sunday afternoon b-ball game? It may be a terrible game with two crappy teams but there’s a good chance one of the Kevin’s goes off for major points. Plus, maybe since this is essentially a pick up game Kenny Natt will free Donte

Oomph....

I’d really have to reconsider parting with 10 Bones to see this team live. I have to record the games as it is and watch them it 15 minute spurts so as not to allow the bile that rises up in my throat to shoot out thru my clenched teeth. There would be a huge mess for Arena staff to clean up if I was to attend… I guess I’ll stay home and watch the game while listening to Gary Gerald tell it like it is. Peaches makes me wanna barf too…

Darn, I will be watching Hannah Montana Reruns with my six year old.

Hey this may be one of the few remaining games the kings might win. On second thought, I’ll stick with Hannah.

by nothingbutnet on Jan 30, 2009 6:22 PM PST reply actions

Bottom line: one of these teams is going to get a win on Sunday

and it could be the Kings!!! Actually, regardless of the sport, 2 lousy teams playing often make for an entertaining game. HAVE FUN vfettke. Go Kings.

now I’m going to go Google 2girls/1cup

This threat really hit home...

I also gave away two lower-level seats today WITH parking for Sunday’s game. I didn’t think I would ever have this feeling about a Kings game (especially not when tickets + parking > $250), but I can’t help but feel that I got over on the poor sap who took me up on the offer.

What a crapfest it’ll be on Sunday.

BTW – Anyone know why the game is at Noon? Is it nationally televised (shit, I sure hope not)?

by cabz on Jan 30, 2009 8:22 PM PST reply actions

All of this Sunday's games start at noon I think

probably just planning for Super Bowl Sunday. Makes sense attendance-wise

www.mancancook.net

by vfettke on Jan 30, 2009 8:29 PM PST up reply actions

What would make sense...

is blacking out Super Bowl day on the NBA schedule. Perhaps the league will re-think that if they flip by the Kings V OKC and see all 300 people in attendance.

by cabz on Jan 30, 2009 8:49 PM PST up reply actions

That's probably why there's a Sac vs OKC game going on

No one’s gonna show up on a good night for that, so they might as well put it on Super Bowl Sunday and have a good excuse

I would go if I lived in Sac

And it gives me a chance to watch the game after I get off work.

Well, it is one of the 5 games I have for this season and I have really good seats

So I am definitely going. In fact, the plan is to take Ms. BTE. The last game I went to with her was the Knicks on a Saturday night – date night. It ended with sympathy sex because that was one pitiful game. Should I be thinking afternoon delight?

I am looking forward to see Kevin Durant, Jeff Green and Russel Westbrook as well.

By the way, parking is $12 and preferred parking $15

Anyone know what hotel a visiting NBA team might stay at?

I’m going to kidnap Kevin Durant.

Maybe Sam Presti will be visiting with the team. I can drug him and convince him that a Kenny Thomas for Kevin Durant and Russel Westbrook trade would put his team over the top and win him Executive of the Year

Hyatt is on 12th & L (1209 L st is the address)

Sheraton is on 12th & J (1230 J st). Holiday Inn (the fancy one) on 3rd & J (300 J st I think is the address) are the fanciest ones I knew of when I drove a cab down there. Umm, I would bet on the Hyatt or the Sheraton though if I had to guess.
