Alright, play hard and get a win!

that’s all a humble sick Kings fan wants today :(

GO KINGS.

Let's do it

Let’s get this win. We were pretty close to one in all four games of the road trip. I can tell we are already a little bit better than we were 2 weeks ago. Since Speed came back we are 1 for 1 at home so let’s make it 2 for 2. Go Kings!!!

stark contrast between an elite player and a superstar

"We are in the business of kicking butt and business is very, very good." - Charles Barkley

by Bluejohn on Jan 9, 2009 10:11 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

it is pretty obvious

that he lacks the physical strength needed to make plays attacking the basket (often). With this in mind, it is not in our best interest to have him attacking the rim down the stretch. I’m aware his last shot was a jumper, but he settled for that as he wasn’t able to bully his way to the rack..

by thisismellow on Jan 9, 2009 10:18 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

agreed. . .but

i’m wondering if it also has to do with him becoming quite predictable now. . .even the commentators noticed that people just arent falling for his fakes, the ones that usually give him room to go around or to rise up above the defender. . people just arent falling for that gimmick anymore.

I think how he adapts to this will confirm whether he’s as elite as we want him to be.

by Spoz of Oz on Jan 9, 2009 10:26 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

i definitely agree

martin probably would have got some good looks if his defender was looking away the whole time too. i just don;t feel that martin has the physical presence to spread the floor and let him go to work down the stretch…..when defences are very tight and refs are reluctant to make calls at the risk of deciding games.

In that situation, Wade, Kobe and Lebron (i know these are amazing players…but that’s who we want to compare him to right?) are able to bully their way to the rack. Foul or no foul, they’re getting a decent look. Right now i’m not sure kevin is.

by thisismellow on Jan 9, 2009 10:33 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Average is overstating it

Kevin’s decision making at the end of the last few games has been absolutely terrible. Threw away an inbound near the end of regulation and then picks up his dribble on a critical play before tossing up an air ball. Terrible.

They need to keep giving it to him

Until we find out one way or another. If we have to lose 20 games this year to find out Kevin can’t do it, I’m fine with that. I’m not ready to write off his clutch ability yet, just observing that the recent history has been poor. If he can’t turn it around, then at least we’ll know.

Shut up and Coach

by Carl on Jan 9, 2009 11:04 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Really want Martin to succeed but,

I think we already know. He may hit some game winners & make some good clutch plays in the future but great clutch players seem to be born with “it”. I’m hoping for the best for Martin, and like everyone else – waiting for Sac to get their “Wade/MJ/Kobe” or even “Posey/Horry”.

Hawes anyone?

by busybe on Jan 9, 2009 11:21 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

You're right

Kevin is very average down the stretch. Not a superstar, not a star, not even an elite player really. I’ve been thinking that for some time now. But, he is what he is. A good scorer when there’s no pressure.

And, I want to give credit where credit is due. Tonight after the turnover on the inbound, he started to disappear. Then he hit a three. Then made pressure free throws. I was thinking, please let this be the turning point. Lose the monkey on your back Martin. Please let these shots mean you’ve learned to perform under pressure like you do early in the game. Then….he calls for a clear out (are you kidding) and – crap.

Just a small step in the right direction. I guess it’s a learning process. I’m hoping for the best.

The better news….Hawes! (and the start for JT)

If we go back to the December games I see nothing but progrss.

The losses are frustrating and disppointing but the way that Kivin and John played tonight was really a good start. Beno played ok in his shot burn, JT had his moments and was looking very comfortable and made a couple of nice shots in the paint. So tonight give us something to build on. This was the single best game by an opponent that I have seen this year, Wade was unstoppable.

Ohh man

Yet again. So close, yet so far. Hawes was ‘hawesome’ and kept us in the game. Kevin, as much as I love him, forced too much and along wih that dumb defensive play by Salmons lost us the game I think. I was hoping the team wouldn’t break myheart tonight but it didn’t happen. Are we better than we were, let’s say, 2 weeks ago? Yes, we are. But of course it is not enough to get wins. We gotta turn the corner and get one of these close games and we will be able to take the nxt (baby) step.

The way I see it, a couple shots by Kevin go down, and Salmons doesn’t turn his head, and we win this game. Of course, is not just their fault. The whole team didn’t get the win. As always I try (really hard) to look at the positives and I see JT rebounding the ball, making sweet passes, and hitting some shots, and of course I see Hawes with ice in his veins becoming a go-to-guy on this team.

As hard as it is, we’ll still be here (at least I will be) for the Dallas game, and the Orlando game, and the rest of the season. Ohh and of course, we’ll be here for that lottery and draft. Looking forward to all of that…

by avishai on Jan 9, 2009 11:36 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Wow, that was some bad B-Ball

Well, the Kings are well underway to a top 5 draft pick. I am beyond rooting for a win anymore. I want this team to get better. I want to see the young bigs get stronger and tougher, and better. I want to see Martin and Salmons and Beno put it together in the same game at the same time. I really want to see Thompson improve his game around the rim. He looks like he rushes everything and throws up wild shit that doesn’t go in. He needs to slow down and gather himself, and finish with more authority. More dunking and less soft stuff around the rim. Love his athleticism, but he needs to work on his offense and defense.

But I really believe that playing the young kids and getting them experience is way more important than wins are. In fact they need losses more than they need wins now. The draft is looking pretty thin this year, so a TOP 3 Pick is the only real way to get the best chance at a top flight impact player that can possibly become the glue to connect the disjointed collection of mismatched pieces that the Kings have become. The Kings do not have that kind of player on their roster now. The combination of a great draft pick and some more free agents and the Kings will probably look more competitive next year.

True fans will still be here and going to games no matter how putrid they look. But when they are playing very poorly or are not putting out the effort they are capable of, the fans need to BOO. Booing is perfectly acceptable for the boneheaded play the Kings are guilty of for several weeks. In fact, Booing should be expected when they make poor decisions that cost them the game. The Fans should have BOOed long and hard when Salmons turned the ball over late and lost the game. That was a bonehead move. And besides, Brad Miller should be BOOED every friggin night he suits up to play. He is just the worst player in the league right now period. No argument. I have watched all the teams in the league play at least twice this year, and NO ONE costs their team more games than the B52 Bummer. Gives up more points on D than he scores. His line should look like -32 points, -13 rebounds, -3 steals, -5 blocks. Just SOUL CRUSHING PATHETIC !! He most cause the rest of the team to want to forfiet.

As usual

It’s hard to take you seriously.

Please. 9 points, 15 rebounds last night, and he was a +3 on the game – only Bobby Brown was higher. Yes, I know that plus/minus doesn’t mean much in a single game, but it does tell me that Brad played well enough last night – the team wasn’t getting it’s ass handed to them while he was out there.

I will say this about last night’s game – Dwayne Wade may well be the best player in the NBA right now. It amazes me how physical the guy is. I worry about his career longevity though, he plays as hard and takes as much punishment as anyone in the league.

Perhaps you are not watching the entire game, and I dont blame you but....

You may continue to support a sub par center who should retire, but if you are watching the game at crunch time, look to where EVERY team attacks the Kings defensively and you will see how great the B52 BUMMER really is. His scoring means nothing when he gives up X2 the buckets at the defensive end. His rebounding is woeful for a 7 foot player. He is flat footed and has no jumping ability. His defense is like playing 5 on 4. WORST player in the league. PERIOD! Natt would bench him if there was a viable alternative on the team. They have been trying to dump Miller for 2 years, but the other NBA coaches watch tape. Hard to hide 7 feet of worthless…

Yeah but

How do really feel about Brad?

I watched the entire game

And I watch the NBA on a regular basis – calling Brad Miller the worst player in the league pretty much nullifies me taking your opinion seriously on anything.

You’ve been on this rant for a while now – tell you what, at least wait for Brad to hit one of his lulls where he’s putting up 5 points and 5 rebounds for a few games before you show your ignorance.

You may be right

He might just be in the running for worst player making more than $11 miilion a year. But he’s probably not a clear leader there, either.

calling out Brad from that game is stupid

I was there, close in. He rebounded very well and played good D.

Yes, he missed a few shots he would usually make, a few shots that circled the rim and popped out. You know, GOOD shots that didn’t fall.

Say what you want, he would start on 20 teams in the league, including the team we played last night.

Brad is Brad

He can be a pretty good player or he can be total crap.

Big reason for our demise

He’s probably still the third best player in the team. And a team with Brad Miller as one of it’s top 3 players is not a good team.

Would Brad Miller really start for 20 NBA teams? That might make an interesting discussion on its own. I do know he’s not in the top 20 centers in terms of PER, so I think it’s doubtful.
