Yeah, nice read
13 points 5.0 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game averages after 3 preseason games. If his rookie season’s stat line looks like that I’ll be a happy camper.

I'll be shocked if he doesn't average 6 1/2 boards
I really will.

I agree
he averaged 5.7 playing against two very good rebounding teams

So will I. I won't be surprised if it's better than that (with a high TO rate of course).

Very good Article
I especially like Westphal’s Remarks:
“He certainly isn’t a classic point guard, but he’s going to make defenses make difficult decisions. Almost no point guard has the size to compete with him inside. Teams are going to have to figure out what to do with this guy.”

He's going to be one of the top point guards>
When starts nailing the outside shot he’s going to be dangerous. Also, I want to see him go down low and post-up smaller guards more. This is one of the few advantages that the Kings have yet to exploit against their opponent. Reke can bully other guards down low in the paint like no other guard can. I’d like to see Spencer take his man out past the 3 and clear out the paint for Reke to wreck havoc inside

and remember all, the kid just turned 20. His body will mature and he will get bigger and stronger
Yikes!

I bet we'll see
defenses often switch defensive assignments and put their 2 on evans and their PG on Kevin. We will likely employ such defensive switches as well, depending on matchups of course.
I think that the ability of Kevin and Reke to respond to theses matchup situations will greatly contribute to their overall effectiveness and the Kings’ success. Speaking of which, I’d like to see Westphal call for more postups for Reke—and if the defense responds by switching Kevin’s man—then I’d like to see Kevin postup, perhaps in that mid-post area he likes to post up at.

It was awesome to see the mismatches in action
And at times, Jackson was actually their Power Forward, so the Dubs had their 4 on him.

Great article
I didn’t realize he was second in the league in preseason minutes and the other stats. Very well written and, yeah, it rocks to have SI coverage!
With the minutes he should get and the role he can play in this team I would not be surprised if his is #1 Rookie of the Year.

I agree but Blake looks just as impressive.
People argue that Blake will be coming off the bench but I have no doubt he earn his starting position before the All-Star break. It’ll be a close race for ROY between Reke, Blake and a few others. This year’s rookie class has a lot of sleepers that will surprise some folks.

Thanks for this.
Very nice piece and I love this quote:
“Every time he walks out on the court, the veterans treat him with respect, as if he knows what he’s doing,” Westphal said. "There’s only one or two guys a year who come into the league with that kind of presence. He looks he’s been in the league for several years already.
Whooo! Go Kings.
