Him good.

5 PM (Pacific) start. What match-up would you like to see more? Evans-Westbrook? Martin-Harden? Durant-MasonCasspiGreene? JT-Jeff Green? Or the vaunted Krstic-Hawes bout?

Should be a great game to watch listen to.

Let's hope

he has a +/- of 20. That would mean he’s a horrible player and should be traded for Kenny Thomas (who will probably have a +/ of 0)

Hurt in PHO but he didn't leae the game because of it

he left because he fouled out. Everyone strains an anke sometime, so it’s not like it is becoming a cronic problem. PW is still experimenting with player rotations, so he might not have been playing a lot of time anyways.

It will be interesting to see if he plays tomorrow against Utah.

by HighTops on Oct 22, 2009 4:59 PM PDT up reply actions

If he doesn't he just proves how weak he is

and how he doesn’t play like a 2 but rather plays like a 7 (th man). I mean, dude sits a preseason game?? Who does that? I say trade him to Utah for Fesenko and a second rounder to make Aykis happy. He’s not clutch anyways…

Has something to do with the speed of sound being slower than the speed of light

by Kfan in Korea on Oct 22, 2009 5:29 PM PDT up reply actions

I know you’re joking, but:

It has to do with the fact that audio is a lot more information then data, and the way the information is sent. When a score keeper makes a change, he makes it on a computer which updates to the server immediately, then refreshes on your page soon after. So the delay is 90% in how long it takes the scorekeeper to input the information on the computer, and 8% the time it takes your computer to download from the server.
With the radio broadcasts, there are two problems. First the announcer’s signal is coded, then sent to the main radio station where it is broadcast. At the radio station, the signal is turned digital again by another service, then broadcast to the internet.
Furthermore, because the sound files are so much bigger than the text files, your computer buffers the audio by a few seconds to make the stream sound continuous to you. The net effect is that all this results in your radio being behind your box score.
So you lose a few seconds from announcer stating something to it getting on the server, but most of the “delay” is your computer downloading enough sound to go live.

Victory is tasty.

Iffy. A night where Martin’s out, Garcia’s out, Reke and Casspi are suffering from rookie-itis, May and Shawe’s knees are slowing them down, and JT tries to over-compensate and fouls out in the first half? Could be a bad day for the Kings.

I see why you think that:

too many small PGs in the league.

BUT

He’s mostly going to guard the better of the pg-sg pair. So, in that sense, he won’t be in a situation where he’s THAT MUCH BETTER than his opponent, so, while I think he’ll average a freakish number for a point guard, I think Hawes, JT and May have too much of an advantage to wrap that up.

The Kings will be okay during the regular season. This pre-season hasn’t gone well, but the Kings have also played 3 teams with 45+ wins last season. The only sub 30 win teams they’ve faced from last season is GS & OKC. Coincidence? I think not.

OK, never mind… I’ll forgo the irony and not make too much out of Spencer’s mediocre play in the preseason, even though his interior “defense” on Tuesday night made Channing Frye look like Dirk Nowitzki. At least he only took one ill-advised three tonight.

And on the plus side, Casspi is really something. I’m excited about seeing him at Arco!

"Fair & Balanced"

is how I think of it, pookey.

Still, there are still a lot of parties left to bash, right? I think you’ve (so far) spared the Farmer Labor Party, the Know Nothing Party, the Institutional Revolutionary Party, the Ant-Masonic Party, the Free Soil Party, the Christian Democrats, the Boston Tea Party, the Party Like it’s 1999 Party…

Oh, and of course the Whig Party! Man, I’d love to see you go off on the freakin’ Whigs after a beer or two.

Hey, I don’t want to start a political argument here (it’s funny that no one has asked me about MY avatar, BTW) but I’m just gonna come right out and say that Millard Fillmore SUCKED as President.

by Mucho Moss on Oct 23, 2009 1:46 AM PDT up reply actions

Since you mentioned Fillmore......

I might as well mention how awful James Buchanan was. (He’s always said to be a “lifelong” bachelor. That means he was gay.) Don’t get me wrong, I don’t care who Buchanan slept with. (Or that he was gay.) But many of Buchanan’s policies were what sent the US on a civil war path.

I don’t think I ever heard of the Farmer Labor party, Know Nothing party (although I’m not shocked they exist—I’m hardly the political historian I’ll admit) or the others mentioned minus the Boston Tea Party. (I think they wasted a lot of tea to make a point.)

To be honest MM I don’t really think about your avatar. I always thought Kusian’s was funny, and felt it was a bit of a shame that he had to take it off. But, so it goes detective lieutenant….

The Whig Party was okay. They should have started a war in Canada to make their point. Oh wait…..

James Buchanan was (as Bill Walton would say) “hooooooorrrible”. Franklin Pierce was lousy too.

Hawes is shooting 364 from the 3 , our 3 PG's are 4 for 18 or .222

so how can Hawes’ shots be ill-advised.

Hawes was only on the court for 16 or Frye’s 29 points.

I think your wrong in blaming our Center for the play of their Center. It’s not always a direct corrolation. Besides what made Frye’s night special was his 4 for 5 from the 3. He got 20 of his pts off 4 shots and 8 FT, and Hawes didn’t foul him once. Sometimes it isn’t the defenders fault, when a player has a exceptional game. You need to give Frye credit and stop putting all the blame on Hawes.

I’m not saying that Spencer had a great defensive game, but things aren’t always black & white.

Why don't we just release him.

Your comment is typical of people who comment based on their emotions. And, not with an realistic approach to the basics of NBA business, ot the difficulty of acquiring a true center.

The reality is that if he isn’t any good, no one is going to trade for him and if they do your not going to get any value in return.

Only 11 Centers in the NBA are averaging double digit pts and Hawes is one of them. No NBA center is averaging double digit rebound, Spencers 7.5 puts him tied for 5th. And, Spencer’s 1.25 blks per game makes him 13th.

So, workout a trede senario for us, you seem to have a good handle on this.

Sucks for us we are not the freaking Lakers who get all star PFs handed to them, we actually have to fight for the shit we get and do everything the right way. How were this Blazers built? Look at the team we just beat. Are they a finished product?? Hell no!!

I just get tired of all this shit, and the blame game

it was bad enough last year, it was Martin’s fault , it was Salmons fault , It was Miller’s fault.

We need to trade this guy or that guy, even before they had a chance to prove themself. Now, it’s we need to move Donte & Hawes. And, it’s not going to happen. Their under contract for the season. Their cheap, and no one is going to give us anyone more valueable for them.

So, I just CRACKED.

I remember to myself years ago listening to Sportsline

And everyone would complain that the Kings weren’t physical enough. Yet, when the Kings were “physical” back in the 90’s, the Kings couldn’t score enough. With some people it’s just never enough. They expect perfection 82 times a year plus every playoffs.

It doesn’t work that way for anybody.

by Mucho Moss on Oct 22, 2009 11:35 PM PDT up reply actions

well,

we lost 65 games last season, HT, so I think we can agree there was plenty of blame to go around. I don’t know about Kevin, but Salmons and Brad deserved their shares, as did about 7 or 8 other players on the team. We stunk, plain and simple.

But that’s all behind us now, and hope springs eternal.

Tyreke and Omri could reshape this team. They have the kind of focus, physical talent and toughness that we’ve been lacking big time for years now.

And I just want to go on record as saying that, while I have been critical of Hawes’ game, I don’t think there’s any point in trying to deal him or Donte’ because it’s unlikely we could much in return compared to what their potential upside might be.

But let’s not kid ourselves either. Somebody is going to have to bring rebounding, defense and athleticism in the front court for the Kings or we are going to lose lots of games again.

Guess I should start scoutin’ him just on the off chance that we lose about 50 games this year and end up with a lot of ping pong balls in the lottery.
