I don't think I would expect the board of governors to be eternally patient on this subject, given the fact that the NCAA apparently recently declared that it would not see Arco Arena as a place that they would have a regional tournament. I think the handwriting is on the wall for the building. What's not so clear it's what's on the agenda for its replacement. I'm cheered by the Maloofs' optimism and attitude, but at some point reality will take hold and I'm hopeful that that reality is a plan for a new building.

Uh oh

Nothing about that sounds positive. When you can’t even host the NCAAs in your building, you’re officially in trouble. I pray nightly for the Kings.

I don't fear the economy

I don’t fear the Maloofs

I just fear David Stern

You don't know?

David Stern is the economy.

This is why Geoff Petrie is a genius

You really think its a coincidence that he picked the first Israeli player to ever be picked in the first round?

Omri could be Stern’s golden boy!

Funny how different the remarks Stern is making with regards to the Kings

And with how he made in regards to the Sonics. (Just thought I’d point out the stark contrast. Yes, Sonicsgate is still with me.)

Remind us what kind of remarks he made in regards to the Sonics

I honestly don’t remember

IIRC

He basically said it was too bad nothing could be worked out and that the ownership group had to make the right decision for their team

Bennett was a friend of Stern's

If I’m not mistaken.

Was never a big fan of the Sonics, but I hate what was done to the fans of Seattle.

Never forget: I am a complete idiot

I hate doing a shameless plug

But, this was my reaction to Sonicsgate that I wrote up a few days ago. (If you haven’t seen the documentary itself, I suggest spending the 2 hours—if you can—watching it.)

He was kind of abrupt on the issue

I think he was looking to make an example of Seattle, and it so badly backfired that he’s trying a different tact this time around. If you’ve noticed (and you might not—it’s okay), for a long time the Maloof’s have said they were accepting the “NBA’s” guidance on the arena issue. Now, Stern is saying that the NBA as a league is following the Maloof’s lead.

They are trying to cover their ass now that they recognize the scare tactic is out of the playbook.

I really hope to God the Kings don't leave Sacramento!

Thats where they belong. Hopefully fans start showing up to more games.

Uh Oh

If Stern starts using words like that, then it is time for the Kings to build a new arena.

My question is this,

If the Kings do relocate, does this also mean that the Monarchs leave as well?

As it becomes increasingly difficult to schedule events in Arco, at what point do the Maloofs realize that the building becomes a white elephant if major improvements are not made.

I think it is incumbent on the city as well to realize that losing the Kings is only the beginning. Does the capital of the California (8th largest economy in the world) really want its residents to travel to the bay area to see any type of sporting or entertainment event?

It will get done.

We just need to find a foreign billionaire like the Nyets.

Does anyone know any Saudi princesses the Maloofs can marry?

Another flaw in the human character is that everybody wants to build and nobody wants to do maintenance. Vonnegut
