In the pregame meeting prior to Game 6, the league office sent down word that certain calls-calls that would have benefitted the Lakers — were being missed by the referees. This was the type of not-so-subtle information that I and other referees were left to interpret. After receiving the dispatch, Bavetta openly talked about the fact that the league wanted a Game 7.

Eh, fark Donaghy
“Sure, I’ll take your filthy money, and alter the outcome of games, but I’ll make sure to blow the whistle on it years afterward when I can make some more money on it.”
Die, scumbag.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist by nature
But I believe that the NBA put pressure on Random House to quash the book, because whether or not his accounts of cheating are verifiable or accurate, it makes the league and Stern look bad.

I agree in principle,

Agreed
I don’t care if Donaghy gets his story out. I just think it’s fucked up he gets to make a profit.

One thing I noticed in the story
is the liaison between Donaghy and the media. He works for this company.

It’s so specific, i personally believe the general gist of the actions. Obviously he wants more money, but even if he’s embellishing, the crime still stands.
