More like
Beno’s Martin’s backup. ‘Reke and Martin are the starters, Beno backs Martin while ’Reke is on the floor, and Sergio backs ’Reke while Beno’s on the floor. Mason could pick up the extra minutes at SG, too.

This definitely effects Beno & Sergio more than Donte at this point. I do think it means Mason is guaranteed to be picked up though.

Fractures always need “hardware” to heal after the bones are fully grown, right? When you’re a kid they can just set it and put it in a cast, but grownups need plates/screws/pins.

A little insight....
Depending on how bad the fracture is, it could be a really long recovery.
I snapped both bones in my left forearm 9 years ago (a basketball related injury, actually. Sort of). It took 2 plates and 15 screws to put it back together. The problem with a bad fracture in your forearm is that it really affects your hand dexterity and range of motion more generally. So, if Cisco has a bad fracture in his forearm of his shooting hand, it could be a while before his “shooting touch” is anywhere back to normal. Months, not weeks.

I think Noc becomes your starting 3 and Mason becomes your 6th man off the bench spelling both Noc and Martin. Casspi/Donte still get short runs. I’m not buying the Casspi hype just yet.

I don’t see his absence affecting the Kings’ record much, however. I’m not sure there’s a big talent difference between Garcia and Nocioni.

If you compare their stat lines last season,
the two are almost identical. Nocioni is a better rebounder. Despite Garcia being a good three point shooter (especially last season) Nocioni shot a higher percentage last year and has a higher career average.
by cbsf on Oct 9, 2009 4:03 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
As far as ball handling, it’s true that Garcia has the skills to bring the ball up as a point guard, but that was never an ideal situation for the team. With the addition of Evans and Rodriguez, he shouldn’t have been asked to do that this season anyway. His turnover rate is equal to Nocioni’s.

2 preseason games does not a season make...
I know, I know, but if Brockman can perform night in, night out as he has so far, that would free up Noc to start at 3, Mason could back up at both 2 and 3 and you still have Casspi and DG (if he’s not in Reno)

Broke his arm weightlifting?
Paging Jeff Kent’s doctor, STAT.
There’s more to this, healthy people don’t crack bones lifting. I’m actually hoping it was horseplay or some other asshattery, because if he actually broke his arm lifting weights, there may be a serious health issue in play.

Could be
He has broken or fractured several fingers in the past couple of years.
I would be asking where the trainer was if he was lifting enough to get hurt. He should have had a spotter. I have lifted serious weight before, not recently, but it was only with a spotter.

Interesting take
Maybe he’s like Sam Jackson’s character in “Unbreakable”. I’ve only ever seen a few minutes of that movie though, so I actually could be completely wrong about the actor and character and am making absolutely no sense right now.

by MustangMBS on Oct 9, 2009 2:48 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
It's possible he dropped weights on his arm
somehow. It’s not clear that it broke in an actual lifting motion. Actually doesn’t say the injury had anything to do with weights at all. It just happened during the weight lifting session. He could have tripped and broke it as he fell.
