I’m pretty sure Houston is going to put Battier on Evans. And Battier is probably the best true defender in the league in my opinion.

GREAT FRAKKIN WIN and we didn't even play our BEST.

- I know I heard ’Reke call “BANK” on that jumper.

- JT with a killer block. AWESOME.

- ’REKE is a rookie who hits CLUTCH FREE THROWS.

- That being said, we played sloppy for a lot of the game and we still won.

- We won despite the sketchy refs and the fact that ’Reke was on the bench for more than half of the 4th quarter.

- Good teams are able to win in UGLY WAYS.

- JT and HAWES, please LEARN SOME POST MOVES quickly. Every time we dump it in they fail to take it to the hoop strong. It seems the can only score on easy layuls and dunks.

GREAT WIN. We’re .500. GO KINGS!!!

You probably saved me a lot of time. Was thinking the same thing about Nocioni, but it was a really a team win. And that’s the way I like it.

Play of the game for me was that late strip of Durant that let to the Omri-Jam. And it almost wasn’t enough.

My estimate 6000 tops

I counted a few lower sections and they averaged around 150 each, not counting the 4 middle ones, so I’d say 4000 tops in the lower bowl…less than 100 per in the upper so 2000.

From the Welcome to Loud City Game Preview
As long as the Thunder take care of the ball, keep the pace in our favor, and play good defense, we should win this game easily.

Prediction: Thunder 107, Kings 89

Alright, alright….I’m being a homer. But come on, it’s the Kings without Kevin Martin!

Maybe now we'll get a little more respect

But just a little. It’s still only the Thunder, even though we know they’re pretty decent. Actually, with their focus on D and young scrappiness, they’re a lot like us.

I am sure the Thunder blog (Loud City, what a lame name) won’t greet us with another pre-game taunt like tonight’s:

Finally, an easy game!

Maybe it’s my extreme bias after seeing only 6 games, but I’m feeling that we have a cream puff matchup tonight, facing the Kings without their star player in Kevin Martin. The Kings are 3-4, and the Thunder are 3-3, but our situations are very different. The Kings have gotten two of their wins over the free-falling Grizzlies, and the extremely talented yet lazy Warriors. I saw the Warriors game, it was like watching a team play a bunch of street ballers. Granted, they do have a win at Utah, but they’ve shown that they can have a freak win every once in a while, as evidenced by them beating the Lakers last season. Granted, our wins aren’t much better coming against the Kings, Grizzlies, and depleted Magic, but the key win in there is against the Kings. And it wasn’t a luck win, it was a beatdown. And they had Kevin Martin.

by pookeyguru on Nov 10, 2009 10:42 PM PST up reply actions

my reaction was thus:

Let’s all just get along
both sides are looking to a match-up between 2 young teams who will not make the playoffs. No reason to resort to name calling. OKC is a franchise that is further along in their rebuilding than the Kings, but that has a lot to do with Kevin Durant as a once-in-a-generation talent. The Kings and all of their fans certainly hope that perhaps Tyreke Evans can be somewhere near the talent Durant has turned out to be.

That being said, the records are not that different, I think it is a fairly even match-up even without Kevin Martin, and I would give the very very slight edge to Sac only because they are a young team playing at home after winning 2 games and getting a little momentum. There is no doubt that this is not the most challenging team the Thunder could face, but you can’t take nights off in the NBA.

All the fans in Sac respect the smart rebuilding of OKC. It is hard not to. I think the King’s organization is trying to follow Oklahoma’s example. So please don’t look down on us. We have endured as fans for 25 years, and followed mostly bad teams. Few Kings fans are fickle or unappreciative and fewer look down their nose on other teams even when the Kings have success. But if you want to call us homers and refer to our team as cream puffs and refer to our city as your scrotum, the insane amount of regular posters at Sactown Royalty will post here, and there words will come alive, crawl into your brain, lay eggs that will hatch, and force you to sh*t on your own team.

I'm thinking

we tried to take it to the hole a little too much and should have moved the ball around and taken a few more outside shots in the second half. Although I can’t argue with the results.

Ball movement got the Kings the lead and just (barely) enough separation to win the game. More ball movement is necessary though.

I don’t think he’s ready to start in any shape or form. As we saw last night, he’s stil rough around the edges. I do think he has the potential of starting (maybe even next year) but there’s still work to be done. He has the game and the heart, that’s for sure.

How great would it be if we already had most of the pieces for our next run? Just dreaming here but Evans, Speed, Omri, JT, (next year’s big man) looks good on papers, with Spencer, Donte, Cisco, Beno off the bench. Maybe add a piece or two? At this point I don’t see signing a ‘big’ free agent or making a ‘big’ trade all that necessary.

The future begins now...

I've never thought we should go after FA

and its well-documented.

Wouldn’t mind a big trade that brought in talent though, but its not necessary at the moment.

I wouldn't mind a trade either

but at this point I don’t see who we could get that would make that much of a difference.

Let me give an example: Let’s say we trade Kevin, JT, and K-9 for Bosh (or something like that). Wouldn’t it be better for us to just wait until next year’s draft and take someone like Favors AND also keep Kevin and JT.

I see the Blazers and Oklahoma City and they both have talent that they mostly drafted. I think we are doing the right thing by building through the draft, Petrie’s biggest strenght.

The problem is the assumption that we are getting Favors

It’s a bad assumption.

Didn't we learn our lesson about expecting to get a top pick with the worst record?

Hasn’t the official results proven that it’s a lottery?

Ohh yeah

I learned my lesson. I guess we could look at other options like Monroe, Alridch (not a big fan), or Ed Davis.

My main point is that I don’t think it’s worth it (just yet) to make a trade before next year’s draft, especially if we have to include our young guys, where we could have the chance to add another really good player.

I agree with not making a real trade (unless it's dumping Noc's contract)

until the draft lottery. As far as making a trade after the lottery, I’m all for it if the Kings have a way to get a player who can be a quality contributor in the front line rotation. Hell, I’d be in favor with the Kings signing Tyrus Thomas to a reasonable contract and adding another big man through the draft. Ed Davis, Cole Aldrich would be great for the Kings as well.

As the NBA has proven, you can almost never have too many bigs.

Agree with dumping Noc

As much as I like the guy, he just doesn’t fit in the long term plans and his contract (though it decreases every year) is a bit high for a rebuilding team. If (big if) Omri and Donte continue to develop, there shouldn’t be much a drop off in terms of production coming from the 3 spot.

I’d take expiring for Noc if that’s the case. If we could get a low first round I wouldn’t mind that either (highly unlikely though)

It won't happen

GP & Co. will have to settle for dumping Noc’s contract this season for an expiring contract. They might not even get that to be honest.

I think Miami is a great bet. If Kenny Thomas continues to play well, and Jermaine O’Neal gets hurt, they’ll be in need to have bigs. Noc’s salary isn’t very big, you can pair him with Beasley, and Kenny Thomas can play C vs most bigger C’s.

I think, as I’m sure anybody in the organization of Miami does, that the best way for Miami to get size will be through the draft. Otherwise, it’s going to be difficult to find a player that way.

I don’t know if Noc is a guy that Miami will want to trade for. But I think it’s a reasonable bet that a team like Miami, even possibly Philly would be looking for a player who can shoot from the outside and do other things.

If Noc has proven nothing, he’s proven he’ll do whatever any coach asks of him. Unless it’s the wrong thing (like last year vs New Orleans and Rasual Butler).

We’ll see what happens.

Not implying you don't get it Aykis

I’m especially not implying that you didn’t have your own opinion. It was really just a joke.

Alright, T-K-O (Tyreke-Kevin-Omri) lineup

it will be a thing of beauty.

On getting a high draft spot, I think the 3rd worst or 4th worst record will land us #1. I think like being 4th worst has landed the #1 pick the most times in the history of the draft or something. On trading Noc, at this point only a crazy good offer (top 5 pick) would be worth listening to. I doubt any bad teams will be interested in Noc (unless we absorb a bad contract — Eddy Curry/Jared Jeffries for example).

I say leave the roster alone. Things are clicking, and the mood is very good. No need to mess with it now.

There's nothing to fear but everything.

Agreed on everything, but i think this year 3rd worst record takes it

Judgment day is coming!
