Help! I have delusions of Grandeur!
I know, I know, just a rather sloppy win at home over a team that wasn't even close to playoff caliber last season - so why am I looking at the Kings schedule ahead under a new light? Why do I suddenly see Nov. ending with a winning record?
Two words: Determination and mental and physical toughness
(ok, that was like, five words)
Lets take the rest of this month, forget next month or January because who the hell knows what will be going on by then?
Start with Friday, a weekend night game that should attract a decent crowd against a modestly talented but scrappy team (sound familier?). I have moved the Rockets game into the 'This is a team we can beat' column. If the team plays the way they just did against Okl, that is tough, scappy - and more tough but execute our offense better - we will have matched what Houston brings and I think we just probably have more points at the end of the game.
5-4 and they start printing playoff tickets! (OK - no)
Then I think there's some losses that dim the lights a bit
Chicago here [We have a shot but call it a loss] 5-5
@ Dallas [forget it, it would be miraculous] 5-6
@ Houston [hopefully Houston will be looking for revenge, not confirmation - call it a good loss] 5-7
@Memphis [I'm calling this a win, they're a mess] 6-7
Then we have three HOME games, only one of those teams is any good and they are struggling.
NJ here: [better be a win baby] 7-7
NY here: [just stop the 3 ball and its a win] 8-7
NOrl here: [ we'll see, but I call a close defense of our homecourt] 9-7
Whats wrong with me? Am I just nuts? Should I seek clinical help? Should I get that haircut I've been putting off and shave more often?
YOU DECIDE!

Not nuts at all my friend
I thought the same thing. To be honest, it looks like this is the easy part of the schedule (if there’s such thing) and hopefully the team will take advantage of it.
I think we finish November at .500 going 8-8 and I think that would be sweet and very encouraging.
The future begins now...
Forget big picture
I’m damn excited about how the Kings are playing RIGHT NOW. I’m not so sure we can expect a sustained effort on Beno’s part going forward, but November has, indeed, been good for him and the team in turn.
I’ve said before that I thought the Kings were going to start of slow and gain momentum throughout the season but I am ecstatic and surprised that we are starting off so tenaciously!
Peja-vu!
I see your reason for optimism
But I don’t share it. If the team has a winning record this month, I’ll consider that right up there with winning 4 out of the 6 games in the 6 games in 8 days road trip the Kings had in 2002.
There is no real reason for Paul Westphal to have gotten through to this group and have made it work so quickly.
No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....
Why not?
That’s what makes being a Kings fan exciting and fun. I voted “He’s being reasonably optimistic – but I don’t know” but I really do feel any team can be beaten as long as the variables come into play (meaning stuff like; one team taking another team lightly, injuries, a team’s star doesn’t play well on Friday nights, half their players were distracted by Kayte etc.).
As long as Coach W instills the fact that there are no guaranteed wins in this league I think the Kings will come out with some wins by the end of the month. I hope our guys do not take Memphis, Nets, Knicks and Hornets for granted at all. The Kings and Rockets have proven that teams with minimal talent can pull out some unlikely wins.
I’ll repeat this again and again, I don’t care whether we win or lose as long as we compete to the best of our ability and NOT give up. To expect wins against any team is to set yourself up for disappointment.
But yeah, it would be awesome if we ended up 9-7 by December. The Mavs can be beaten if we play our game to the ‘T’. GO KINGS!!!
33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.
I don't know if I completely agree

I DO care if we win or lose of course, some wins make everything a lot more fun and easier to see the future coming. But I agree in spirit.

Word. I totally hear ya man.
Wins are always the goal, but if we lose, I want it to be competitive and I want our guys to at least play with loads of heart.
The great teams lose every now and then but at least they don’t get blown out because they gave up.
33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.
Mildly over optimistic
Houston beat Utah, GSW, OKC, will probably beat Memphis tonight, beat Portland and lost to LAL by 1. Friday is the 1st game of a road trip but not a back 2 back, so they won’t be tired. Their scoring average is high like our (104ppg), but their outscoring their opponent. They’re quite similar to the Kings stat wise, but they shoot at a higher percentage overall and from 3pt range, and they average more assist. And then there is Adelman. So, I’m giving Houston the edge on this one.
I think Chicago is a more likely win. They did beat the Cav & Spurs but bearly beat the Bobcats & Bucks. The Dallas & Houston road games will be tough, although Memphis should be ours. The NY & NJ home games could give us our 2nd 3 game win streak. But, NO is coming in on the 1st day of a 2 game road trip but with 4 days rest.
I see us finishing out the month 3 & 5. With an outside chance we win the Chicago game and/or the NO game. I like the way we matchup against most of these teams well. We have a size advantage over Houston & Chicago. But, our inexperience is going to catch up to us. 8 & 8 by the end of November would be remarkable, but 7 & 9 is more realistic.

My prediction is predicated
on the continued growth of Casspi and Donte’. If they backslide the prospects are much dimmer. If they slowly get better . . .
But I’m enjoying the winning glow right now and will be adding Friday night to my list of games to go to.

No reason we cannot play at current pace
Defensive intensity and coaching are constants. It is not like the three game win streak has been spurred by 30 out of 60 three-pointers made, or flukes in the schedule, catching teams at half-strength, or some other variable not likely to continue.
The other thing I love so far is T-Rek ability to get into the lane consistently and initiate the point of attack within the three point line. We have not had this weapon ever, even with Bibby in his prime or J-Will. A guard who can command this much attention opens up the wings and the paint, and the ball is moved to a player can finish the play, and not be asked to do something outside his skill level.
Last year when Beno was dribbling out near half court line with 12 seconds on the shot clock, we were cooked. Forced shot, then long rebound, then fast break dunk, stems from bad possessions. Momentum swings lead to selfish isolation play leads to blow-outs.
We can stay in games with defensive intensity, rebounding effort, half-court execution, and a coach who makes logical substitutions based on flow of the game, and match-ups, and not a premeditated plan.
Yes, we will miss K-Mart and his points. At the same time, our role players know their roles, our rookies are learning the league, JT is trying to take his game to a new level, Hawes’ best basketball will come, and Beno has something to prove.
With each game the Kings win, as a collective unit they reinforce an attitude and confidence that they can compete with anybody. Barring injury, knock on wood, I anticipate these Kings to compete most nights and be in position to win with six minutes to go. I don’t know their record will be, but everybody needs to forget about last year. This group has little resemblance with that mess.

This should sober you up:
We only have one more win than we did at the same point last year
Last year
is sooooooooo last year. The team has a new attitude, and the fans need to jump on board or be left in the dust.

I’m with the bench _ blob on this. I think what we are doing is somewhat sustainable and until our results are proven to be a fluke I’m going with something like .500 ball. The only well better than average team here is Dallas, NO is sliding and no matter how many points CP3 scores they are having a hard time winning. I don’t believe your proposition is totally wack and I am quite sure that with your determination and mental and physical toughness, the Kings will prevail. By the way, when do you join the team?

This is the easiest part of the schedule all year
We need to take advantage, especially with Kevin out. It helps that teams are underestimating us, but they won’t for long. I definitely expect Houston to come very prepared. They also have two guys who could bother Tyreke in Ariza and Battier, and Brooks is really quick, plus he can shoot, and Tyreke’s worst defensive performance came against Tony Parker.
Key to the game on Friday in my opinion is getting Spencer going. Spencer (And JT) needs to have a huge game on Friday. Houston is height challenged without Yao.

You have a conflict of interest
You need the Kings to lose on Friday to go 3-for-3 on your Win/Loss predictions for this week. I don’t trust you any farther than I can throw you.

Agree with your Key to the Game
Unfortuneately, we haven’t had anyone who can feed JT & Spencer when their in good position to score in low. And, neither have been especially effencient in the low post. Maybe later in the year. Although this could be Spencers breakout game.
I still feel this is a streak ender. But, I expect the next 3 game winning streak to start in Memphis.
"If you don't have anything good to say, LIE" - Mom
4 game win streak baby
JT and Hawes have no one to blame for their missed shots but themselves. Both of their low post games are cringe worthy on most attempts. But we are on three game bender, lets not harp on the negative.
The way I see tomorrows game is the Rockets don’t overwhelm you with talent, they beat you with hustle and extra effort. Well, our hustle and extra effort will rise to the challenge, and negate theirs, and we win again.
There are no Al Horfords or Kevin Durants on the Rockets roster. I think the game plan should be to post up Aaron Brooks, get him in foul trouble, and guard the three point line. We do that, our streak hits 4. The Rockets rely a lot on bench production too. Omri and Donte need to combine for big numbers.
One thing I can say for sure, Coach Adelman would love to return to Arco and beat the Maloofs, even if he would never admit it.
Yeah, well

I do believe he’s done that a time or two since he left.
