I couldn't resist posting this. Hoopshype came out with their first mock draft of the year, and thanks to our record, we're picking 15th (non-lottery!!!).

Welcome to Sacramento, Larry Sanders!

Sanders plays down the street from me here (at my former school)

Ive seen him play many times and prob will a few times this season.
He actually wouldnt be a bad fit for the Kings were we to land him. He is a monster shot blocker, very athletic. Good boarder, def. not much on the offensive end yet but he has a huge upside. Like a more coordinated, athletic Thabeet. Super long arms.

Who? I'd better go look.

Though I’m still guessing we’re top ten and have a shot AND MIRACULOUSLY WIN – the Lottery.

I think we will win it

Or at least get top 3. I’m calling it right now…

There aren't many good you tube clips at all

and VCU doesnt have the toughest conference around. Would be a gamble but I think we should really go for an inside defensive presence next draft.
We got a lot of offense.

Need another PF/C

and the top of the draft IS full of them. DFavors makes me drool. (his game!)

Have you seen him play? GT only played on exhibition game where he scored 15.

What exactly makes you ‘drool’? Average height at 6-9/6-10 with athleticism. I smell another Tyrus Thomas so far.

I heard he killed at the McDonald’s game but that’s like a high school all-star game. I can usually evaluate PGs and SGs at the high school level but it’s hard to say with big men since they’re usually just dunking.

33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.

So you would have taken Greg Oden over Kevin Durant right?

And you missed my point about Durant vs Oden

So, don’t comment until you do.

What separates Favors from Thomas is an inside game.

Favors is a presence in the paint, something Sacramento desperately needs and something Thomas can’t provide.

What's the past tense for "scam?" Is it "scrumped?"

by swoosh91 on Nov 12, 2009 7:15 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

He scored 15 points in one pre-season college game.

U can tell that he has a better inside game than Thomas? Did you see a full high school game of his?

I don’t get it.

33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.

by JETisKing on Nov 12, 2009 8:47 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I assume that his inside game is better than TT's

From what I’ve seen, Favors actually plays in the low post. I’ve noticed that Thomas either scores
from mid-range or by cutting and dunking.

Are you really going to determine his ability to score inside by basing it on one game?

If we miss out on Favors, Aldrich seems like a good pick.

He might seem aloof, but he doesn’t shy away from contact. We could definitely use him.
We could take a gamble on Renardo Sidney with our 2nd pick. He’s pretty good IMO.

I think Aldrich would make a great back up center that could fill the lane for 20 minutes a game.

He rebounds well and he’ll block a few shots. Nothing wrong with that. Remember, in a limited role Cole Aldrich would do fine.

I saw Sidney play some San Diego high school and I thought he was alright. His competition was this 6-8 guy that didn’t seem to defend too well. He could dunk and rebound a little but that was due to his size than skill.

I can’t comment too much on the underclassmen bigs since all the notables already declared for the draft. If Greg Monroe was more on the Shawn Kemp/Dwight Howard side of the fence than the Bynum/Hibbert side, I’d take him in a heart beat. I hate bigs that are inconsistent head cases.

Can’t wait to catch some early tournaments to see what potential bigs will be coming in.

33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.

Unrelated

But Donté Greene is currently 3rd in the league in PER at SF.

Man, I love the early part of the season!

Trust me, I wouldnt describe him that way and Ive seen him up close.

He has a muscular build and is pretty young. At 6’10, he has the longest wingspan in college basketball. Thin, but not Kevin Martin rail thin.
Offensively, he needs work.

He played with Eric Maynor last season.

20 apparently do not.

I was at the CAA championship game, VCU vs. George Mason last year.

Sanders had 18 pts, 20 rebounds, 7 blocks.
Im biased because its my college team, but Im just sayin.

He threw down vicious dunks all over The Bruins. His wingspan is 7 freakin 7.

by VirginiaBlue on Nov 11, 2009 9:05 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Of course, Id rather have a higher pick somehow.

But Sanders stock could rise considerably—altho VCU will have a Herculean task reaching the tourney this year without Maynor.

I also saw JT play when he was at Ryder

And Sanders sticks out a lot more in memory than he did.

They get their ass kicked by the Richmond Spiders. The most consistent Cinderlla team in the history

of the tourney … who my dad played for actually in the late ’60s, covering the likes of Bobby Cremmins, etc. Dean Smith was just starting coaching.

I predict he will never draft Quincy Douby again!

Douby actually had some good #s so far

55% fg, 44% 3pt, only 4.4 in 10min a game – but not bad. Just too small for a low volume scorer non PG I guess. He was getting 10 minutes, must be planning on replacing him with someone.
