The Kings are a good rebounding team now.
I never thought I’d live this long.
Rocks are free, and slingshots easily stolen.
1 game over 500
I like it

Wow. Rockets are doubting their effort in the post game interviews. (watching FSHouston)
I hope the Kings didn’t demoralize them.
33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.
Good win
Houston, consider yourself chopped and screwed.

4 game win streak
The previous time the Kings won four consecutive games was late in the 2007-08 season.

Awesome night
Yet again these guys prove that they are learning how to play as a team and WIN as a team. Gotta keep the momentum going on Tuesday before going on the road for a couple tough games

Lakers being absolutely murdered by Denver
Way to go Nuggets, 6 months too late.

LOL at 6 months too late

I'll take the Lakers getting blown out any time.
The true test is if the Nuggs can do it for four games in a seven game series. That’s hard to do with that damn team.
33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.
Haha, I love the face-shot of JT in the recap:

Just got back - great win against a GOOD team!
Did what they had to do to win it, out hustled, Out REBOUNDED (had to!) and as I thought, if they could do those things – outscored a ‘good’ team.
Last year they would obviously have lost this game and thats a big step.
Mental toughness, especially by Noce and beno who once again made key shots and key plays at KEY moments.

The kings had 18 turnovers and they still won by 9.
They have far exceeded my expectations so far. I loved the banked in shot by Tyreke and the pass off the back of the defender and bucket by Beno.
Chicago should be another good one: Evans vs. Rose
Ba-da
The reason the Kings won because they stopped turning it over
They had 17 of those TO’s by the 6 min mark of the 4th qtr if I had to guess.
No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....
yea, they did better with 5 minutes to go.
It’s just nice to see they don’t have to play a near perfect game and still get a win.
Ba-da
It's gonna be nice. 'Reke should post him up if Noah isn't lurking anywhere near.
I wanna see the Kings make Brad whine, bitch and moan like he ALWAYS does.
33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.
I'm really excited for the next 3 games
Bulls, Mavs (away), and Rox (away) should be a very good test to see where we are truly at as a team. I have no doubt we can compete, now it’s a matter of staying consistent against much better teams. Whatever happens in those 3 games we have already distanced ourselves from the botton of the West (Grizz, GS). Gotta keep working hard
Godfather of the "nice ass" movement.... the future begins now...
I thought tonight was a true test and we passed fairly nicely. Them road games look scary.
We’ll see how our boyz handle themselves on the road.
33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.
Chicago will be interesting
im hoping Noc will have extra motivation to come up with something big
More thoughts about the game
I thought Spencer had a horrible shooting night but he still helped the team win with is D, rebounding, and screens. I mentioned that PW showed a lot of trust by havinghim out there and it just shows that he was doing what was asked by the coaching staff.
We can all cringe and complain everytime he misses a shot, but he also did a lot of stuff that he gets no credit for. A lot of those buckets Beno makes after turning the corner happen because of good screens set by Spence. He’s ben playing much better defense and Westphal sees that.
It’s all about knowing your role with this team and Spencer is doing a good job with that IMO
Godfather of the "nice ass" movement.... the future begins now...
Spencer also had 9 rebounds
7 of them were defensive. JT by counterpart grabbed 9 offensive boards (out of his 11 total).
No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....
Another point you could make
Of the 38 defensive rebounds, Spence grabbed 7, Udoka grabbed 6, Thomas grabbed 6, Nocioni grabbed 6 (I didn’t notice that honestly), Reke grabbed 6, WaBeno, Brockness and JT grabbed 2 apiece, and Casspi grabbed a d-board tonight.
That’s gang rebounding at it’s finest. But, tomorrow, people will see JT’s 27 & 11 and assume he was a big part of the defensive rebounding. Eh, wrong.
No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....
That's true
and this is when Spencer gets back to people hating on him but there’s nothing we can do. It’s all about effort right now and you gotta love that.
I still want to see us hold our own with bigger teams. I want to see how we play against clearly more talented teams. We’ve shown we can handle teams that are in our realm, but I want to see how we react to playing teams like Orlando, Blazers, Lakers, even Dallas. Those are the games when sometimes effort doesn’t get you too far. It’s important to learn from those teams too.
Godfather of the "nice ass" movement.... the future begins now...
By the same token ed
I’m sure several of JT’s o-boards cost the Rockets defensive boards and it’s hard to discount that either. Jt is a brilliant o-boarder and PW has done everything he can to take advantage of it.
No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....
Of course
I’m actually one of those that hate when people point out that JT only gets a lot of boards because he keeps missing shots and is only good at tipping the ball in. I don’t consider that inflating his boards.
He’s just really good at fighting for the ball and that shouldn’t be inflating anything. To me that just means he;s that much better than everyone else at getting to the ball and reading where it is going. I think he earns every single stat on that box score
Godfather of the "nice ass" movement.... the future begins now...
Well I'm one of those people
But tonight that wasn’t the case and I don’t have to point it out.
No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....
yea, it's a hell of lot better then missing the shot and not going for the tip
If I recall Rodman did that all the time, too. Did I just compare Rodman to JT?
Ba-da
Fair comparison as far as effort and heart goes.
Le’ts hope JT doesn’t opt for a wedding dress and blonde hair.
33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.
Yep. I agree. I hope he gains his confidence back soon so he can contribute with his shooting.

Godfather of the "nice ass" movement.... the future begins now...
On that note
Cassspi and Donte didn;t really have good games aside from a couple good things they did. It’s a true testament to the other players that stepped up (Kenny, Brockman).
Looks like coach has them all ready to contribute
Godfather of the "nice ass" movement.... the future begins now...

I thought he was too aggresive when he went in
and PW didn;t like that. I didn’t like it either.
He had been succesful in past games because he didn’t force anything and let the game come to him. Tonight he came out attacking a bit too much and I think his minutes show the coaching staff didn’t like it

Yep.

Not only that
But PW is keeping them ready. They seem to know their role and that’s very important, especially for a team this young.
Godfather of the "nice ass" movement.... the future begins now...
I actually thought it was pretty interesting that JR said Brockness has a future in the NBA
I wonder if that means he’ll have a contract next season. (He also might get his QO picked up too.)
No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....
The Kings will have to rebound well, and because the pace is about even for both teams (Houston is 11th, Sacramento 12th), the Kings will have to make a large percentage of their open shots to win. Additionally, moving the ball will be critical, and rebounding from a poor practice yesterday as well may have to be in the cards for this young team. (If this were a veteran team, I wouldn’t be nearly as worried.) Houston offers all kind of matchup problems offensively and defensively, and it should be fun to see the type of matchup’s Paul Westphal and Rick Adelman attempt to will their teams to victory.
God I feel smart.
No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....
And yet you have something like this
The strength of the offense has been in shooting (6th in the league with an effective field goal percentage of .518) and in offensive rebounding (9th). The team doesn’t draw many fouls (23rd) and coughs up a bit too many turnovers (20th). The only weakness on defense for the Rockets is rebounding — as the Kings (or Jason Thompson, rather) continue to impress on the offensive glass, this should be a key item to watch. Luis Scola is by far the team’s best defensive rebounder. If Thompson can beat Scola to the ball, the Kings could have some opportunities for easy buckets against Houston, which is something that will rarely otherwise happen.
TZ FTW!

What a great idea

Just got home...
Can’t hardly believe what we saw. A great, great win. Thankfully we killed them in rebounding, which made up for our turnovers. One thing though…I was mildly concerned about our perimeter (3 pt. shooting) defense. I would think after Battier and Ariza started dropping 3’s we could have made a better effort to stay on them, but overall a great effort by our Sacto Kings.
Purveyor of Bull Plop
Lucky for us they shot so crummy from 3pt range.
8-27 or something obscene like that.
There's nothing to fear but everything.
Kings FG% goes from 48% to 53% if you eliminate Hawes' numbers.
Rocks are free, and slingshots easily stolen.
At the point where Hawes stopped hitting the rim, yeah, I wouldn't have minded.
Rocks are free, and slingshots easily stolen.
Or have 45 defensive rebounds & 14 o-boards
Depends on how you want to look at this.

Those numbers still kill compared to Houston
Plus May grabs at least a few, most likely.
I’m not making a case for May to start again, but Hawes can’t be out there stinking it up for long stretches.
Rocks are free, and slingshots easily stolen.
You're ignoring the subtle little things that ed mentions (screens, defense)
Spencer needs to hit those shots, and he will I think. Right now, he’s also helping the team in other ways.

And you cut our defensive rebounding,
screens that allow Beno to shot open jumpers, and good D on Rox bigs

Good point about the screens

They are such small details
but those are the things that I’m sure the coaching staff is looking for. In this case, it’s almost like an assist.
How many times do we see a player pass to Hawes, then receive the hand off and get a screen? I know Noce and Beno use these all the time. Those things count too

Yes they do

Hawes is in a slump...
Shit, we’d see bibby and peja go thru 5 or 6 games of the same thing. But they didn’t bring hawes’ d.
But we didn't expect Bibby or Peja to be the White Jesus
Some of us expect him to be a 20-10 guy like JT is proving to be. I think he’s more Mehmet Okur than we like. (6 pts one game, 20 pts another).
There's nothing to fear but everything.
As long as he delivers what he's expected to deliver in the realm of his role, I'm good with him.
He showed tons of restraint tonight that he didn’t show all last season. He kicked the ball out when he knew he couldn’t take a good shot more than a few times tonight. Coach W has definitely limited Spence’s offensive roll which is a good thing for now. As he improves, I’m sure his roll will increase.
If he can block shots like he does and be Mehmet Okur, that’s not so bad in my opinion. He’s also WAY more mobile than Okur. I wish he was as automatic as Okur from the arc.
33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.
I thought he was the black Jesus

To me, the big improvement was the 4th Q standard of play.
We stopped turning the ball over, didn’t let the fact that Rockets reeled us in time and again to get to us and we could close out the game going to what was effective all game for us.
There's nothing to fear but everything.
I mean big improvement over our previous games
let’s hope the team keeps learning + growing from this.
There's nothing to fear but everything.
Good point
We’ve learnd, no doubt. Remember how we gave the game away against the Hornets and how we let the Hawks take that game? We’ve been able to close the past two games and that’s a big improvement

No No
That was all Kevin Martin’s fault. (Not to mention the Hawks are better than any of the teams the Kings beat.)

Yep. Good teams close out games no matter how many TOs and mistakes they make.
To think that this team isn’t even at it’s peak is scary. We’re adjusting in the 4th quarter and making the plays necessary to get win after win.
Again, another game and even more improvement. Gotta love that.
33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.
Kick ass!
Man, this team has almost instantly become fun to watch. They play HARD and they’re winning. I don’t know if it will last, but it’s been years since I’ve had this much fun as a Kings fan.
What you don't hate WaBeno anymore?
You’re slipping Carl.

Even tho Hawe's isnt performing as well as we'd like
I like the fact that he’s still getting playing time and the team is still giving him the ball. . heck i actually dont mind him shooting.
As with Beno letting Casspi shoot the tech FT (correct me if im wrong?). . it’s good to see the team trust each other and PW putting confidence in him.
I like the wins, but i also like the ‘team vibe’.
Yep. Besides the wins...the 'VIBE' is totally different from last year. Thanks Coach W.
33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.
Not sure if you read the story I posted the other day
but about the Casspi FT:
After the Warriors game, Westphal went up to Casspi (who missed a bunch of FTs in the game) and told him not to worry about them. He said that he trust him and that to show that, next time there’s a technical, Omi would take it. That’s why he took the technical the other day.

PW also mentioned that in his post game presser

K-9 and May in Spence's head
Hawes claimed that K-9 and May kept telling him to keep his head in the game and make an impact even though his shot wasn’t falling. That, to me, seems to be what Hawes is starting to do better, and his biggest hurdle. He is still searching for his role.
I saw Kenny Thomas talking to him at one point
I’m not surprised Spence said that.

Passing on veteran tips
K9: Listen to me and I’ll show you how to get a massive contract, get traded for an All-Star and just collect your salary without even playing.
Spence: Will you teach me how to be behind Mikki Moore on the depth chart too?
K9: Will do.
Spence: I’m all yours.
There's nothing to fear but everything.
If you think Chris Webber was an All-Star at the time he was traded
I can’t help you. I think what you said is funny; don’t get me wrong. On the other hand, the conclusions you could reach from that paragraph are not accurate with the reality of what went over the course of the last 4-5 years with this team.

Interesting Stat
Tyreke is the 2nd Kings rookie to score 20+ in 4 straight games. The only other one to do it was Lionel Simmons who scored 20+ in 7 straight in 1991

Lionel peaked that year
I’m pretty sure.

CP3 had to be carried off the court with a sprained ankle
could be out for awhile. Could be another winning streak on the horizen. Memphis, NY, NJ & NO with CP3. Could the Kings finish out November 9 & 7 or 10 & 6 or would you believe 11 & 5. I dare not mention the last possiblity for fear of jinxing them.
I have to admit I didn’t really believe they could pull it off again. I guess I’m a monkey’s uncle, because now “I’m a believer”.
