Wow.

Good thing Jackson demanded to be traded to a contender!

hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

The draft lottery has reinforced my belief that there are not enough bad words in the English language.

Exactly what he deserved

He wanted a trade, so he got what he wanted. Bad karma, imho.

Hey Jack, wanted to win a championship

Have fun in Charlotte!! I think this is really cool. Exactly what he deserves.

And for the Dubs, I agree with lttg, the did alright. They got rid of Jax contract and got an expiring and a shorter and cheaper one with Radmanovic. Plus I think both players con contribute something in the short run. Now if they could only get rid of Maggette and Montaayyyy

Remember how great everybody thought Radmonovic was on those run-and-gun Sonics?

Picking him up in fantasy is an interesting issue right now, the problem being whether one thinks Nelson will play him.

Good for the Warriors

Jackson had to go…they should be going young to see what they have.

It makes me sad to see Gerald giving his all on such a hopeless team...

I REALLY hope Wallace gets traded somewhere eventually where he can have some success, because he deserves it. He would be great incredible as a sixth man on a playoff team.

Poor poor Gerald.

This is a slam dunk deal for Golden State in my opinion

Get rid of Stephen, bring back someone who can play defense in Bell (although he only has one hand at the moment), and Vlad-Rod is a big that Nellie might actually use cause he can hit the long ball.

I wonder

if Golden State had a similar talent-weighted deal set up with Cleveland, but jettisoned Cap’n Jag-off to Charlotte as punsihment to fit the crime.

I read on twitter from one of the ESPN guys

That GS was asking for a lot more talent from Cleveland. I wouldn’t think your idea is that crazy.

Marc Stein said that Cleveland wasn't ready to pull the trigger

And the ability to get someone to fill Azubuike’s slot because he’s out for the year was important too.

I don't understand why Charlotte did this deal

I guess they think S-Jax will provide more offense for them, with about the same defense as Bell. But he wanted to go to a contender, so I don’t think he’ll be very happy.

Funny how teams don't think about this before making moves

Like Memphis: “I don’t think Allen Iverson will have a problem coming off the bench, let’s sign him!”

Now, Bobcats: “Mmmm Jackson wanted to go to a contender but I’m sure he’ll be happy playing for a team fighting to just make the playoffs. Let’s trade for him!!”

Actually, it’s not funny… just plain stupid (for them not to consider things like that, not the actual move)

It's desperation

And Larry Brown does things for changes sake. I don’t know if this is a terrible move for Charlotte as in Jackson is a better asset than what they gave up.

Charlotte could very well take the package, that Cleveland probably didn’t quite offer yet, down the road, It’s plausible when you think that the Bobcats may not see an uptick with Jackson after awhile, and the Cavs come calling believing that making a change with Jackson would work long term.

I think Jackson is much easier to trade than Radmanovich with an expiring contract. That’s just my opinion though.

Wins more games now?

That’ll help with attendance somewhat. I think Charlotte may be looking to flip Jackson for something better than what they could get with Radmanovich and/or Bell.

If that’s the case, they very well could do so. Jackson is a player that could very much help the Cavaliers and a few other contending clubs. it’s not really that hard to see why the Cavs would want him at some point THIS SEASON if things get rough.

The thing is if the Bobs lose Chandler they’re done. And, if they can get a draft pick, cap relief for Jackson this nets them something positive. Just imagine that Bobcats team next year with John Wall. (Trust me, they’re hoping for the same thing.)

non-CapnJax - be careful what you wish for -

I would give an assist to Rod Higgins for this deal, helping out his former Coach. How does someone become both angry and apathetic at the same time? I don’t know but Nellie seems to have figured it out (I’m mad as hell and I don’t want to take bother with it anymore?)

For the Warriors – another contract signed and traded to get little other than cap relief in return. Raja is a prince – pun intended – and Vlad should wear termite proof shorts to help with a career of pine time, but it is a big downturn in talent for your best player. Look for the directionless Dubs to be less distracted but persistently unfocused. Who is the team leader? Magette or Monta ?

For the Bobbies – big upgrade in talent but a bad contract. My guess is that MJ took the call on the 15 fairway and said “We need to win games, this guy has talent, let’s do it and get rid of a bad contract and an injured guy”. Diaw and Jackson is a decent 2-3 combo, what do you do with Crash Wallace? Move Diaw to the 4? Larry Brown hits 70 in September, my guess is that this season has the Cap’n drive him to retirement. Maybe it will be the first time a Coach “Sprewells” a player.

What, if any, turnaround time is there before Charlotte could trade Jackson again?

I wasn’t asking the question, I was phrasing it in such a way to indicate that we’ll hear alot of that question with the player’s name substituted come trade deadline time.

I’ve already been through pookey salary cap training camp (you introduced me to Coon), I know these answers. I was just showing my support for a FAQ entry I believe will become very useful.

Bob Fitzgerald

If you listen to his afternoon radio show on KNBR, you’d be convinced that all is hunky-dory in Warriorland. There’s no problems with management at all, no sir. Just a few minor bumps in the road.

And he’s the same way with the Giants. Which is too bad, I generally like to listen to him, but between he, Radnich, and Ralph and Tom, you’d think the Warriors had won the last 5 NBA titles and were on their way to their 6th. They are a bunch of Nelly kiss-asses.

by otis29 on Nov 16, 2009 8:35 PM PST up reply actions

This is Hollinger's take on the pick - it is on Insider so I will paraphrase

Why did the Warriors trade with Charlotte when Cleveland would have given them so much more (Delonte West and Wally World’s big sign and trade exception)?

Putting the Charlotte acceptance of Stephen Jackson and his big contract after dealing away Okafor for Chandler for the savings they just spent – it got me thinking…

Why wouldn’t the Kings and Cavs do this deal with Nocioini? Noce is not Jackson but a decent approximation in many respects, certainly a No(t)c(h)e below in talent and versatility but with the disruption that is the current Cavs, only ten games in, isn’t this a possibiity?
The deal wouldn’t be so much for the talent of West (though I am betting we could get the Dubs to sell us Jackson’s gun cabinet cheap) but the big drop in cap commitment that Szcerbiak would give, waive Delonte if you have to he is not guaranteed next year. This is intriguing to me.
