Quick Poll - Who Is Your Favorite Current King?

but I had my finger all over the Evans button.

because out of Speed, Reke, JT, and Donte he has been here the longest. Plus, I got his jersey for a reason

It’s between K-9, Sean May, and Sergio.

I’m going with May

because no matter what he always comes out with energy even if the team was down 20+ (last year) he would still be hustling like it was just tip-off.

Although honest to goodness, I almost chose Beno. I don’t know how to say this… but … Beno… you’re actually good.

Kevin would be my choice if he hadn’t gotten injured (not his fault).

Kenny Thomas – Bring us a good center.and still scrapping after 2 years of wood
Paul Westphal – Bringing together the guys on the team without our main scorer
Jason Thompson – Energy and Playing how he should be playing
Tyreke Evans – What can i say….He is the man
Omri Casspi – That youthful Euro-Energy and good attitude no matter what
Kevin Martin – Like above..There’s a reason i have his Jersey
Andres Nocioni – Scrappy, Decent defender, Decent offense good attitude veteran mentality
Beno Udrih – Playing his heart out earning that money
Ime Udoka – While he isn’t playing his best, still a great bench guy if he can get his shot on
Donte Greene – This kid has it, we just need to draw it out more
Jon Brockman – In the Mike Singletary way- Physical …with an F – Ballz out!
Sergio Rodriguez – Haven’t seen enough, I like the energy..sometimes needs to slow it down
Spencer Hawes – Too inconsistent for me..I think he needs a good mentor for a couple years
Francisco Garcia – I know hes a decent defender, and a good 3 point scorer..but for some reason just not a big fan. Maybe its the attitude i see come out or just too streaky for me
Sean May – Need i say more..can we change him out for Brian Skinner please~! I loved that guys attitude and hustle

Toughness. Grit. Hustle. Clutchness (even).

While we may make a case that Evans, Udoka and Garcia (when he played) is our best defender, it is still Noce who draws the Durant/LBJ/Melo/Nowitzki assignments. And he’s been capable at that.

You can add Geoff Petrie to the list as well.

The booblehead in me wobbles from player to player. Overall, I admire that this is a team that is showing me what I hoped to see – the drive to compete if not (yet) the talent to contend.

He is the person we build this franchise around.

1. Always Cisco – because he’s my guy, he was the hustle before anyone else was

3. Casspi – because I think he’s our future starting SF
4. JT!!!!!!!
5. Easy Evans – he’s great, just not a personality I love as much as the other guys

I just love the way he hustles and brings his lunchpail. Good teammate, doesn’t complain when he doesn’t play, which is unfortunately too often for my taste.

Tossup between Tyreke and JT after that. I’m also liking what Omri and Donte are bringing to the party and look forward to their future play.

1. He has that fire in his belly, although I happily admit this is true of other players as well.
2. He’s the first Israeli to play in the NBA. Yes, this story gets a ton of pub, but it’s still cool. I like foreign players.
3. He’s much better than I thought he would be. The only thing I could glean from those Youtube clips before the draft was that he could dunk in transition. He can do so much more.
4. I actually like his shooting motion quite a bit. It’s deceptively quick and he’s not completely lost if his feet aren’t fully set.
5. I also have a hummus obsession.

It was hard for me to not choose Kevin, who, in addition to being a badass on the court, carries himself so very, very well.

Sean May has logged onto StR today and Ime Udoka has not.

because I like rooting for flawed heroes.

But let’s just say you would not be “shocked” at my choice.

If you would have told mea year ago that Kenny Thomas would have even recieved 1 vote I would have been shocked… so i guess that is a bit of a bright side to this.

The new kids on the block are nice, but how can you not vote for a guy who has been therough all the crap and still puts up all-star numbers and still finds ways every summer to improve his game.

Plus, he’s got a cool car.

If I was picking based on game alone, I’d go:
1. Tyreke
2. Kevin
3. Omri
4. Beno

If I am picking based on personality:
1. K-Mart
2. Omri
3. Westphal
4. JT

Since game is my first consideration, Tyreke was my pick. I excluded Cisco from consideration due to prolonged injury. Once he returns to form, he will make both lists.

Really like Evans, Thompson and Martin but gotta give props to the guy who has surprised the most. Knock on wood, but I’m curious what the rotation will be like when everyone is healthy? Especially the rotation/minutes at SF…

I think I have the solution to Martin’s problems: He needs to go with Sean May for his McDonald’s break during practice. That way, by the time he comes back from his injury, he’ll be good and stout!

The poll is about your favorite – not the best.

Donté’s potential, his humor, his good games, his mistakes, his growth so far, make him the most compelling story on the King’s this year. From a first round draft pick, to a trade throw-in, to an explosive D-League and Summer League scorer, to an inconsistent and immature Coach’s decision-DNP, to a solid role player in the King’s resurgence. No player has had so much to prove, no player has come so far, no player has fallen so far, no player has so far to go. If there is a player on the King’s that embodies the team as a whole, it is Donté. Mark my words, Donté will be a Kings for many years, and as he grows as a player and a person, the team itself will grow.

He’s been my favorite for so long that he wins by default. However, I could have easily picked one of JT, Tyreke, Omri, Brockman, Greene, Noc, Beno, Cisco, Westphal, or Spence. Which is a nice change of pace really. There’s not anyone on our current team that I don’t really like. Even K9’s out of the dog house for right now.

He’s been through some much BS and namecalling, and has prevailed through ridiculous coaching scenarios, that you can’t help but applaud the kid for his work ethic and determination. Based on a combination of talent and attitude, there are very few players I’d rather have as the face of the franchise, even if he isn’t a super-duper-star.

Kind of lacking love in this poll. Kid needs a hug!

I don’t know what it is, I’ve just always liked watching the kid play. I first took a liking to him when he was on the Spurs, and when I heard we’d signed him I was ecstatic. And then when Bibby went down and he started playing great I was pumped. His play last year broke my heart, but to see him back on top is beautiful. I feel like when he’s playing his best he is the best player on the court. He runs everything. He’s the only current player on this team that can take over and win a game in the fourth.

The second most popular guy on the whole team? Damn. Move over Kevin and JT. I sense some ballot box stuffing coming from foreign lands, but see no clear evidence of that.

I like the whole team, but I feel a huge sense of excitement when he has the ball in his hands. I’m also excited about him being the one that can probably lead this franchise to the promised land.

After tonights game, he’s the only one that didn’t take crap from ANYONE. You mess with the Brockness monster, you’ll get hurt, Mr. Gasol.

or that Sergio would get more votes than Beno.

Tyreke is understandable, but Omri coming in 2nd. This was an eye opening poll.
