Some Trades

#1http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yhvg87c
Kevin Martin and Kenny Thomas to Indiana for Danny Granger and Mike Dunleavy.

Don’t know if Indiana is in any money trouble now, but this trade would save them some money. Still I would probably rather have Granger than Martin if I were Indiana.

  1. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ykxahko
Kenny Thomas and J.R. Giddens to Detroit
    Andres Nocioni to Boston
Tayshaun Prince, Brian Scalabrine and Eddie House to Sacramento

I’m thinking Detroit might want to get rid of either Prince or Hamilton, and Prince would be an even better expiring for us next year. Plus he’s a pretty good basketball player.

  1. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yzjhc7z
Kenny Thomas to LA Clippers for Chris Kaman

Depends on if LA wants to go all out for 2010 summer. Their owners a cheapskate too. Kaman’s a good center with 3 years left on his contract, but is he better than Okafor and Dalembert? Dalembert yes, Okafor no.

  1. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=l7rvdk
Kenny Thomas to Memphis for Marc Gasol and Marko Jaric

Saves Memphis a lot of money, opens up the Starting 5 for Thabeet (You draft him #2 you have to at least expect him to be your starter in the future.) This trade would be an absolute steal for the Kings, and I don’t think Memphis does it unless they’re really hurting financially.

  1. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yhwaren
Sergio Rodriguez and Jon Brockman to Phoenix for Robin Lopez

Lopez is young and could be a solid backup center. Sergio could thrive in Phoenix’s system.

  1. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lwhofe
Andres Nocioni and Kenny Thomas to Utah for Andrei Kirilenko and Kyrylo Fesenko

Come on, a trade thread and me not suggesting a trade for Fesenko? What did you expect? Honestly though, this trade would be about Kirilenko.

pretty much

You’re trading a guy with a few freak injuries for a guy with back problems? And Bayless and Julian Wright are awesome, and would love to have them on this team, but if I’m giving up Martin, I’m getting back a proven all-star or a franchise-changer-in-the-making. And while Battier and Landry would be a great boost to the Blazers, I don’t see Houston giving them up, no matter how impressive Brooks-Martin-Ariza looks on paper.

Still kinda waiting for Bayless to be awesome.

This is his third season and he still hasn’t really been able to sustain rotation minutes. If the guy is really a star in the making, I think Portland might be inclined to move a few pieces clogging his progression and they haven’t done that yet.

not so far. Fernandez is dulpication, I think Omri has more upside – and may be better by the end of the season (unless you say RF is our SG) and Martin and Roy? What do the Blazers do with them both? Neither can guard SFs.

anyway, its the wild and wacky thread – so be it!

I hate the trade machine

Because not a week goes by when someone who signed up that day drops a fanpost about a trade that no GM would ever accept, even if he was drunk, had suffered a head injury that morning, was battling H1N1, and had a Communications degree.

I’m not clicking on any of these links, no way. Enough to talk about with the legit rumors out there without getting into wish-thinking.

alot of times I want to throw out a trade idea just for the fun of it and see what people think, but I don’t want to bother people who hate that type of stuff. So if there’s a designated thread for it, I don’t see the harm. Every time one of these puppies leaves the Fanpost section, I hope someone throws up another one. I had them 7th in preseason

but I just going by the Trade Machines statement that the trade will cost us 12 games. If without the trade we end up with 27 to 33 wins, losing 12 games because of the trade puts us at 15-21. Which in my estimation puts us in the bottom 3.

What realistically is the least amount we would have to give up to get Anthony Morrow?

Because while Kevin and Cisco are gone, we could use a good high-energy 3 point shooter. He is still on a very low contract that is over after this year. I just don’t know what Golden State would want, other than to force Maggette’s contract on somebody.

I cam up with this:

Kings get Biedrins, Morrow
Warriors get Okafor, Stojakovic
Hornets get Kenny Thomas, Maggette, Asabuike.

I think everyone would be happy with that, actually.

GREENE! You’ve been superfluously apostrophe’d! - andy sims

by iashwash on Nov 24, 2009 3:01 PM PST up reply actions

Alright, here's my trade involving 4 teams

Kings outgoing:
Thomas
Nocioni
Greene

Kings incoming:
Okafor, Prince

Pistons outgoing:
Hamilton
Prince

Pistons incoming:
Greene, B. Simmons, T. Williams, Songaila

Nets outgoing:
B. Simmons
T. Williams
T. Battie

Nets incoming:
Hamilton, Nocioni

Hornets outgoing:
Songaila
Okafor

Hornets incoming:
Thomas, T. Battie
-———————————
Rationale behind the trade:

Pistons: The Pistons are doing fairly crappy this year. They aren’t the dominant power they once were in the East, anymore. The team’s hanging around 10th in the East and have shown that they’re going for a youth movement, while possibly blowing up the team in the process, as evident when they traded off Billups, then benched Iverson. The team is pretty much ruining itself and have shown more attention toward its new foundation.

This trade would bring in a huge $11 mil expiring contract to Detroit, while giving them 2 young guys in Greene and Terrance Williams. They’ll also be taking on a 2 year, 4.5 mil salary from Songaila, but it might be beneficial to them, rather than wait out 4 years of Hamilton’s $11 mil contract that they possibly want to move.

Nets:
The team is 0-12, last time I checked. They’re going nowhere and have a solid stud in Harris, while CDR is having a breakout year. They’re also pretty bad at the SF spot and are in desperate need of some veteran leadership. They’ll be getting a star in Hamilton, while picking up a decent player in Nocioni. The downside, however, is they’ve shown they’ve been gutting their team for LeBron.

A bit of a risky situation for NJ, but, then again, they’ll be getting Hamilton out of this, and a good glue guy in Nocioni to fill their SF needs.

Hornets:
They’ve been really sub-par this season and it’s been showing that the team has no clear direction, at the moment. As evident in the K9 for Okafor discussions, the Hornets might be trying to blow up their team by trading off their big contracts.

In this trade, they’ll get 2 fairly big expiring contracts in Thomas and Tony Battie.

Kings:
The Kings have a nice foundation right now for a winning team, but need the right pieces to build around that. I believe Okafor would provide solid defense in the key, which is a weak point of the Kings, right now. Prince is a solid, versatile player who can provide consistent offense and give the Kings a whole lot of help with defense on the wing.

By bringing in Prince and Okafor, the Kings would instantly be one of the more elite defensive teams in the league, while still possessing good offensive firepower in Evans and Martin.

Starting Kings line-up:
Evans
Martin
Prince
JT
Okafor

Trade with Milwaukee

Kings Receive: Joe Alexander and Dan Gadzuric.

Bucks Receive: Andres Nocioni

Breakdown: Milwaukee is currently 8-4 and Michael Redd has just returned from injury. Scott Skiles has been starting Carlos Delfino at SF. Their other forwards include Luc Mbah a Moute and Hakim Warrick. Delfino is undersized for a three and not nearly the rebounder that Nocioni has been in his career. Mbah a Moute and Warrick do not have the ability to stretch the defense the way Nocioni can. Starting alongside Redd and Jennings, the Bucks would have three legit perimeter threats to balance Bogut inside. Plus, Skiles is already familiar with Nocioni, having coached him in Chicago.

This trade allows the Kings to save money because Gadzuric’s contract comes off the books after next season. Alexander is also a free agent after this season. Gadzuric is a nice shot blocker as well and would provide some interior defense of the bench for roughly 15 minutes a night. (Sacramento would likely release Sean May.) Alexander could be another nice trade piece to pair with Kenny Thomas or in case the Kings somehow determined to move Greene in a deal instead, Alexander could be an intriguing young prospect. Finally, the move would free up minutes for Casspi and Greene (and Garcia when he returns in February).

This trade won't happen

Because the Bucks have quite a bit of money invested in Delfino and Mbah a Moute as well. Plus, Gadzuric (as scary as this is) is sort of protection against a Bogut injury (whose currently out).

I doubt Milwaukee would consider Noc a suitable alternative. But, that’s me.

You're right

I was just putting it out there. The Bucks do already have Kurt Thomas and Francisco Elson as Bogut insurance though. Gadzuric may be bigger and more skilled defensively than those two but hey, if they’re looking to make a splash in the playoffs and utilize the hype surrounding Jennings, they could do worse than Nocioni. ;)

Also, the money invested in Delfino and Mbah a Moute is relatively small – especially when considering that Ridnour, Warrick, Thomas, Alexander and Ukic are all expiring deals…

Oh yeah. You better believe it.

If Skiles was an SF, he’d be Noce. They really hit it off in Chicago and I have no doubt both of them would be thrilled to reunite.

There can only be one Noce!

As far as asinine?

I guess it’s not so asinine. Delfino doesn’t have a guarantee for next season, so I suppose it’s possible Sroufe.

On the other hand

There is also Ilyasova who has another year on his deal. I’m not sure the Bucks would see that as an upgrade at all.

You've forgotten Ilyasova

He is a SF with a PF’s rebounding mentality.

Yeah

I should have mentioned him in the breakdown. But I actually think the Bucks might still like Nocioni as a veteran with playoff experience as opposed to the 22 year old Turk…

Maybe we could get Ilyasova!

I’d love that.

Trade with Washington

Kings Receive: JaVale McGee and Mike James

Wizards Receive: Andrew Nocioni and Sergio Rodriguez

Breakdown: Washington is currently 3-9. The Wizards have struggled with injuries to Antawn Jamison and new acquisitions Mike Miller and Randy Foye. With a healthy Brendan Heywood and a Fabricio Oberto, Flip Saunders hasn’t played McGee much (7 MPG). They signed Earl Boykins to provide some much needed energy and scoring but they’ve continued to struggle. Nocioni would give them another spark plug off the bench and provide some much needed depth behind both Butler and Jamison. With Miller’s contract expiring at the end of the season, and him not having played particularly well, the Wizards might be even further enticed by Nocioni.

The Kings would add a really nice young post prospect to battle with Hawes. James is another expiring contract – at approximately $6.5 million. From the Kings’ perspective this move would seem like a no-brainer. But the Wizards would likely want more in return for the former 1st round pick and an expiring contract. However, they’ve already committed to Andray Blatche for three more seasons and they might want to get something for James while they still can…

Adjusted Kings Depth Chart:
1 – Evans, Udrih, James
2 – Martin, Udoka
3 – Garcia, Casspi, Greene
4 – Thompson, Thomas, Brockman
5 – Hawes, McGee

In keeping with the call of LTTG’s FanPost…

Kings Reciev: Keven Duran

Thunder Reciev: Behno Udrik

Breakdown: Thunder are 7-7 and must be severely disappointed in Russal Westbrok and their newest pick, James Hardan. Major busts to say the least. Udrih has been playing out of his mind since Martin went out and would provide Scott Brooks with a hard-nosed perimeter defender to make up for Westbrook’s obvious flaws. Just do this one Jeff!!!! Duran is overrated anyway!!!

Seeing some reports of Kevin Martin and Nocioni for Ray Allen, Tony Allen

Saw this on Twitter: @ultimatenba Rumor: Posible traspaso entre Boston Celtics y Sacramento Kings. Ray Allen y Tony Allen por Andres Nocioni y Kevin Martin.

Did a quick search and saw this at Hoops Hype, so consider the source. Chad Ford also weighed in on the rumor in a chat.

Chances of this happening: slim and none.

No way this happens

Why would Petrie want to trade off Martin for an old guy on the decline? That’s just basically giving away Martin and Noc for cap room.

by CloudyEyes on Nov 25, 2009 11:02 AM PST up reply actions

Both Allen's are an expiring

No way you give up your best (2nd best probably with Tyreke now) trade asset in Tyreke for expiring contracts.

Anyone who saw the Kings tonight should know

That all we need is another young talented big prospect to be on our way – and its likey to not come high in the draft.

This draft is chock full of bigs

We might not be bad enough to get a guy like Favors, but Petrie’s biggest strength is getting talent out of the draft. I think (without any luck from ping pong balls) we’ll be in the 8-12 range for our pick this year.

My interesting trade though

Okafor deal revised as of 12/15/09 (due to free agents)
(Marks, May and Skinner have same 1 year almost all exact same money)

Hornets get K9 & May
Clippers Get Marks
Kings Get Okafor & Skinner

Lineup for now

Beno > Sergio
Tyreke > Noc > Ime
Donte > Omri > Brockman
JT >Skinner
Okafur > Spencer

When Kmart gets back just bump

Tyreke > Beno > Sergio
Kmart > Noc > Ime
Donte > Omri > Brockman
JT > Skinner
Okafur > Spencer

Counting only Current players puts us 1.8 million over salary cap(not sure about what we owe on old contracts. Sounds pretty fair for everyone seeing how clips get a better PF until B Griffin gets back and up to speed, hornets get 2 expiring and Donte / JT get a great guy to learn from and a great back up (Skinner) and I would so rather have him then May.

Judgment day is coming!

Sorry to reply to myself but also we get Okafor, one of the best centers around and a guy that can teach Spencer a thing or five about being a Center. I think that is what is missing most on this team is the Yoda’s to our Luke Skywalkers.
