In fairness
he was put in because we had started sucking and Joe Johnson was destroying us. Of course, it turns out Mason couldn’t do anything about that either and was useless on offense, but we were well on our way to losing when Mason got in.

Agreed.
The Hawks were simply better in the 4th. And Tyreke really needs to stop chucking so much. He hit a few early on, and I think he was discouraged a bit by all the blocks the Hawks were getting on him, but if I’m guarding Tyreke, I’m going to let him shoot as many jumpers as I can.

Criteria for cutting and adding players
Must be able to score from farther than 3 inches from the rim.
If it wasn’t already over then having Bibby covering Mason, and then leaving him to double Evans or just about anybody else, last night should have done it.

How does this work salary-wise again? Do we still have to pay the remainder of his 1 year deal, or are we on the hook for the difference between that value and whatever he negotiates with whatever team picks him up, if any?

Remembering Desmond Mason
It’s difficult to generate any genuine feelings for the guy. He was barely here and now he’s gone. This is like trying to feel bad for the extra that gets killed off in the first two minutes of an old Star Trek episode.

I always have warm feelings for any King's player
as long as they leave on good terms and don’t bash the team. Westphal said Mason was a professional and nothing he did here would cause me to think otherwise. I do think his days as a professional basketball player, at least in the NBA are over and I wish him nothing but the best in whatever he does next. And while my feelings for Mason are warm, due to his limited time here, they aren’t particularly strong.

I’m not saying that’s right. I’m just saying that’s what they did it for. I think the reason they targeted Mason was because Westphal knew him from his days in Seattle.
When Mason couldn’t score well enough, that was all she wrote. I guess they were hoping he could provide more on that end than he could.
But, by the same token, are you going to tell me that Ime Udoka is a magical upgrade? Sure, only if he shoots better.

I won't vouch for the level of play,
but part of my season tickets paid this man on two separate occasions. On the other hand, he does provide a nice counter argument to anyone that says that GP never drafted a viable NBA player in the 2nd round (along with Fundy, the Animal and Tyus Edney, to name a few).
