[Bobby] Jackson ... was the warrior of a sixth man who somehow found himself being dubbed soft when his abdominal strain kept him out of the 2004 playoffs. Some of those same uneducated voices are the ones questioning Martin's heart now, just as they did last season when his left ankle bone bruise kept him out of 31 games. Equally unjust.

There are credibility issues all over this thing, but the fact of the matter is that much of the skepticism sprouts from in-house and spills over into the mouthpieces who set the tone with the fans. It's a big problem that could have big consequences.

Great line about the "mouthpieces"

I literally had to chuckle. Very funny indeed.

Clearly a blast on the red headed jack-ass who starts this shit.

Man, I can’t stand Napier and his cheap innuendos. You ride on the team flight with these players douche bag. Give us some really information, some quotes, some sound bites from the team- not this backhanded speculation that you spout.

I will admit that he has been pretty conservative with the latest injury. Yesterday he spent a lot of time defending Martin after the MRI results came out but it’s just too little too late. He threw Martin under the bus after he missed the final weeks of the season last year and then beat that dead horse all off-season. The folks who receive their information from 1140 on the way home already have a pre-conceived idea of Martin being soft and that can be directly attributed to Martin being injured and Napier insinuating that he isn’t hurt bad enough to not play.

He's a jackass

I didn’t disagree with what he said about Bobby Jackson in the sense that he had the right to say that. I disagreed with his premise that Bobby should have played because unless you’re 100% you’re not likely to help your team. More so with an abdominal injury like Bobby had.

But saying that Martin couldn’t play hurt is stupid. I wonder if this continues will Peaches loses his radio show because he’s spending so much time kicking dirt on the Kings players.

I’m not surprised, just a bit perplexed how anyone could criticize Martin for a tough ankle injury. It’s amazing he plays as well as he does given his injuries.

I don't think they'll cream Peaches...

He actually spins the Kings’ hype wheels however they want him to. I mean, to the point of losing credibility.

For example, given how well JT and Martin were playing the past few games, Grant and Jer should’ve been espousing praise ad nausea on those guys. Instead, they’re making it seem like every little thing Tyreke did was akin to parting the Red Sea. Serioulsy, JT goes for 22 and 11, and they give him minor propage, while Reke makes a layup (finally) and they act like they just saw a firefighter pull a baby from a burning car right before it explodes.

Ridiculous.

I agree.

Reke needs to play a lot better if the Kings are going to compete and Grant and Jerry need to start using a more critical eye when expressing their reviews of Evans. 15 points on 22 shots is horrible. 26 points by Jamal Crawford is horrible. I don’t want to pile on Evans yet but I would like some constructive commentary given about his lack of court vision, refusal to pass, lackluster rebounding numbers etc…..

Oh, we know Sam doesn't like Peaches

If you remember the Theus “no one to throw the ball to” comment and how Peaches backed Reggie as he backpedaled and basically said Sam fucked the story up, because he didn’t understand basketball.

Summarizing

I’m going to go ahead and summarize the article:

Hey Peaches, fuck you. The end.

Having said that, the whole Bobby Jackson incident is what made me turn on Peaches in the first place. I mean, we were talking about a guy WHO PLAYED WITH A BROKEN FACE. Peaches constant bloviating, anger and boorishness comes from his own fear and insecurity. He’s the classic bully. Amick called him out about as explicity as you can while remaining professional, and rightly so. Peaches is a loudmouth, know little douchebag. I mean the guy is genuinely an asshole. The Kings ought to be embarassed to be associated with a person like him.

Hey Carl, what do you think of Grant Napear?

This will put me on the wrong side of StR

but I don’t have a problem with Grant….and I enjoy when he calls true Idiots …Idiots.
To do this i have to accept 2 things; 1) He is not a bright man, I judge this by how often he does not understand the question he is being asked. and, 2) He is not afun loving frivilous guy (like Koz, who I can’t listen to, a hater posing as a nice guy). This sometimes leads him to dismiss draft and trade questions.
If you accept those faults I don’t find him bad, plus he replaced Ted Green, and he deserves our thanks for that.

by ElRonToro on Nov 6, 2009 12:40 PM PST reply actions

Banned!

Just kidding. My only real problem with Grant is that he almost never has anything interesting to say about basketball. He is often pretty douchey and definitely often a bully, which sometimes makes me feel bad for Mike Lamb when he cowers to Grant all the time because he’s a nice guy and I’m sure he’s not confident enough yet to think of himself as a true peer to a veteran broadcasting “professional” like Napear.

As a sidenote, I’ve never really been a fan of Lamb, but I’ve noticed recently that he’s a MUCH better host when he’s solo than when he’s with Grant. He’s actually pretty good at filling airtime between calls and interviews without saying anything awkward or stupid. I honestly think he’s probably better at that at this point than Grant when he’s alone even though he’s an experienced host. Lamb isn’t particularly interesting or thought-provoking, but he’s a competent shepherd of our local sports airwaves. The Jay Leno of local sports talk, if you will.

What I know

Everyone I know in the business who has worked with the Scarlet Douchebag™ and Koz, has roughly the same things to say:

The Scarlet Douchebag™ is all ego, not nearly as bright as he thinks, and very rude to people below his pay grade.

Koz is a genuinely nice guy, and treats everyone respectfully, and as equals.

Of course, judging by past HPL broadcasts, I don’t get the impression Kayte likes him all that much. I sensed serious animosity. But I like Koz.

On the other hand…

I am seriously conflicted.

I don’t live in the area and follow the team here, thru the bee, and on league pass. So I don’t have to even run the risk of accidentally hearing sportsline. (My impression is the same as ElRonToro’s.) But the Amick post is ridiculously vague. Aside from the dimwits who comment on the bee site, what are the actual quotes and who are they from?
