Not even 6-8 weeks now, just 8 weeks? Yuck
Good interview.

Smart move
to get the surgery done. Don’t gamble on that stuff.

Its the safest option.

It's like watching a throughbred that gets a bum leg before the Kentucky Derby
You just know if he went out there, he’d dazzle, but surgery is the smartest option. I’ll take another 10 years of career over 20 largely meaningless games.
But I will miss the flash…

One bright spot
Jerry going to have to use more of our Casspi nickname recommendations. Casspi off the Glasspi!

Cast doesn't guarantee it will heal correctly
So, they need to pin it.
I guess all that time I spent playing doctor with my girlfriend really paid off, right Section? That’s exactly what I said in the other Martin thread. Maybe I should open a practice somewhere.
Eight weeks from now, PW is going to have a press secretary come out for the post game interviews.

Well I actually PRAYED it to a higher power...but thanks. :)
I’m taking this period as a time to really watch Tyreke and Omri quickly evolve as effective NBA players.

There goes his Allstar bid.
Good decision, but as a fan this sucks.
We need to burn some sage around ARCO, call some Witch Doctors, pick some 4 leaf clovers, line the stadium with horse shoes, sacrafice a couple of virgins and attach a rabbits foot to each players shoe.
At least the games with Martin in were mostly competitive. I worry about the pyche of the players if we can’t at least win some games.

I think a part of it is the fair-weathered fans.
The economy wasn’t bad when the fans stopped showing up. A lot of the fans became spoiled and became fair-weathered when C-Webb was traded and Adelman left. Maybe bad fan Karma has something to do with it and b-ball gods are punishing all of us. Ehh…that was a random thought.
33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.

It may have something to do with playing bad basketball, and
Charging the fans one of the highest ticket prices in the league.

I'm going with HighTops
option B
The Kings brass priced themselves out of the market, especially considering the product they’ve put on the floor.

Couldn't agree more
If you’re a real kings fan, you get more excited when they suck, because you can’t wait to see growth. Watching them when they’re good is fun, but without perspective it’s not as real.

Sucks almost as bad as Dan Snyder owning my favorite football team
Losing Kev is a bummer, but the right thing is to heal. Question I have is how this will effect Reke? Will he continue to play the point with Beno? If not, won’t that stymie his growth?

Anything that see's Reke play well is a good thing
Regardless of the circumstances.

Yes sir
Kevin’s injury REALLY sucks but it also means our other young players need to step up and, in the long run, this could help the team.
The future begins now...

Do not be optimistic
It is entirely opposite of what you should be as a Kings fan.

I see postives
Ok, Martin seemed to be in All-Star form, but…
This gives plenty of opportunity and minutes for list to see what we are really made of. Im sure Casspi, Reke, Brockman (Even JT & Hawes) etc will all be better defenders/shooters because they basically have to be.
We will really see if Sergio, Udoka, May can really play.
Gives young side more time to ‘Gell’ and for some leaders to stand up.
More ping pongs (errr perhaps I shouldn’t go there).
Basically even with Martin in, this team was hurting without Ciso. This side can still play tough, perhaps sign another via trade or waivers, and pretty much fast track the development of youth without 2 key experienced players now until Jan/Feb.
It’s tough being a Kings fan…but I see much progress in development than last year, and I like seeing a team that’s hungry and tough, and not afraid of a challenge. Think of a couple years time when they mature…damn…look out.
Besides who knows, still may be some twists and surprises left for us. Only beginning of season.

Here we go again
I think it’s time to accept that Kevin is a mini-version of Grant Hill. He is never going to go through a season healthy. Even when he returns from this, we’ll all be saying, “when will he truly get back to form after the injury?” We’ll always be saying at the beginning of the season, “well now that Kevin is healthy! Just wait till you see what we can do!” It’s just a matter of being made of twigs and playing like he plays. I love his style, and he was even playing defense this year. But when you get knocked down that many times and play that many minutes… this is how it’s always going to be.
I just hope Tyreke can become such a player that when we have Kevin on the floor, it’s bonus. We will never be able to count on him for 82 games. Sorry Kevin, love you!

This is a great take
I don’t like some of it, but it’s hard to argue with any of it.
I hope that you’re wrong and that Martin can attain sustainable health. I hope that there is some anti-venom for our snake-bitten star. And if/when that happens, I’ll return to this thread and take my rec back. But until then, a hat tip and a well done.

That's cool
I think the “brittle” tag may be more apropos for Kevin (and Grant Hill for that matter). The “soft” tag kind of pisses me off.

Brittle is perfect
He plays hard, drives to the rim and gets fouled constantly. He’s not soft, he’s brittle. he has tiny, tiny, hollow bones… like a sparrow.

Kevin Martin
Soft? No.
Brittle? Skinny? Injury-prone (you pick the adjective)? Yes.
And his style of play just increases the risk of frequent injury going forward.
