Spencer Hawes
I was looking at some of the highlights from last years games,
and the win at Memphis
and it led me to think,
why did Spencer Hawes score more when there were plays set up for him?
If we would set up plays for Spencer, like how Milwaukee does for Andrew Bogut, we will be really competative against most playoff teams,
Last nights win at Utah was good, but it was just Tyreke by himself, if we get Spencer and Thompson to get us at least 25 or 30 points by themselves, then were fine, but right now Thompson, is the one really scoring and playing better.
Yeah, Spencer has some games where he puts up Bynum numbers, but in reality, he isnt much of a threat to opposing teams,
Memhat Okur, wasnt even trying to guard Spencer Hawes yesterday, Utah, would've just let Spencer shoot 3's all night, but Spencer instead just passed to Tyreke, knowing that Paul Westphal would bench him if he started taking too much 3's.
So ,the point I'm trying to make is lets set up more plays for Spencer.

And you needed to write a fanpost to make this point?

Spencer numbers are 6.5 points and 4 rebounds
in two games since being named starter. He wanted to start, now he is starting. So now he needs more play calls? I don’t think that’s the answer. Spencer is not the player we all want him to be yet.
I was watching Brook Lopez on the Nets. Same age as Hawes (21), but a year less in the league. Lopez is a low post center, a rebounder, smooth moves, draws fouls, a force in the paint. Smart player, future all-star IMO, though his team sucks. If Spencer had skills like Lopez, I’d agree with your opinion.
By the way, Beno and T-Rek will pass Spencer the ball if he is open. So it is all up to Spencer, not the playbook.

Spencer
is playing just fine, thank you. The numbers will come, but in the meantime he’s the team things that don’t necessarily jump off the page on the stats line.

Put another way
Sometimes they say the best referee is the guy you don’t notice. It may be the same way with Spencer. He’s not jacking up stupid shots. He’s playing within his abilities. Fewer turnovers. He’s doing the basic things well, playing good D, boxing out, etc. He’s doing what we need him to do to win, which is less.

The other stuff can come with Spencer. And it will. He is still putting it together. As are all these guys.

completely agree also
Spencer hasn’t had a ton of opportunities, but that’s fine, he’s making the plays that are there, not doing anything stupid and playing good defense.

I'll agree with that
It does make me wonder what PW’s plan is for Spencer. JT had 5 post up plays in the 1st quarter of the GSW game. And, he missed all 5 shots, although he did go to the line twice. So, you have to wonder what exactly are the Kings trying to do with Spencer. Because JT is just starting to develop a low post game, while Hawes already has one.
Also, with making his 1st 3pt shot of the season in the 7th game, I don’t see teams moving out of the paint to defend Spencers 3pt game. I would like to see Spencer get more than 5 shots especially against teams with a front court equal or undersized to ours.
Is it PW, the guards, or just that Spencer isn’t working hard enough for it?

Speaking of which...
I didn’t notice the refs at all in last night’s game.
So they must have done a pretty good job!

You're not going to be this much of a homer if the Kings win 41 games are you?

I'm always this much of a homer.
But I want the officiating to be fair. I hate bad calls going either way. But I’d like to point out that I’ve seen far more calls going against us than for us over the past eight years.

He's playing better than his stat line suggests
even in the ATL game he cancelled out Horford – which is a success story.
GS was a bad match-up game for him when Biedrens and Turiof not playing.

Yeah I was very pleasantly surprised with his defense on Horford.
