Cool deal.

They must use footballs? Oh, shit, the NFL’s got dibs. Hmmm, oh, I know! They use soccer balls! Because no one uses those things…

No chance of a Greece v. Peru, so we’ll have to settle for Greece v. Mexico alright Ed?

LOL

Good comeback there Aykis.

I actually don’t like Mexico. They always have it way too easy to qualify. Peru plays Argentina and Brazil while Mexico and the US play Honduras and Costa Rica. How fair is that??

So what's the solution?

A pre-Cup World Cup to determine who get’s into the World Cup?

Don’t hate on the US’s competition… Haiti and the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago… and don’t get me started on the regional year-in year-out powerhouse The Virgin Islands… the Fighting Virgins! boo-yah!

I'm a big proponent of

an all Americas qualifier where both Conmebol (South America) and Concacaf (North America) participate for a total of 8 direct berths and 2 more teams playing a playoff game to get the last 9th berth.

Anyways, too much soccer talk. Back to your scheduled programming

What are you talking about

There’s actually more real action in soccer than in baseball and football. That’s why I picked up basketball, because it has a lot of that non stop game action.

If you think soccer fouls stop the game a lot it’s really not that different from basketball.

A soccer game lasts 90 minutes and the broadcast takes 2 hours. A basketball game has 48 minute games and the broadcast lasts 2.5 hours

by edm7 on Dec 1, 2009 11:37 PM PST up reply actions

No no

There’s a lot of RUNNING in Soccer, but there is little else. I don’t get much pleasure out of seeing a well executed pass from the full back to the forward trying to get a tiny advantage during a 2 on 1 breakaway.

Now, I agree with you about the broadcasts. I always have open minds about sports until I watch a few games because I never know how little I will like them. SOCCER IS BORING AS HELL. I mean I understand why you love it ed; it’s no problem from where I stand.

But Soccer to me is the running equivalent of horse racing, only there is less talking before & after the game in Soccer matches.

33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.

by JETisKing on Dec 1, 2009 1:16 PM PST reply actions

Probably every month

Until Griffin comes back, and probably even after that. So far its the DWill/CP3 of the draft but more hercules and AI. Can’t really see that many other rookies challenging these two for this monthly award, not a knock on the other guys in the draft class; just these two appear to be men among boys (small sample size)…..oh wait I forgot about Eric Maynor.

by Gilo424 on Dec 1, 2009 10:48 PM PST up reply actions

I could see Terrence Williams making a splash here and there if the Nets get a W finally.

True but I’m not counting Griffin out at all. I think the kid is the real deal. He has a lot to work on like ‘Reke and Brandon do and his position is a lot easier than running an offense. Like Tyreke, Griffin is also a ’Total Package’; great handle, super athletic, awesome work ethic and high IQ for the game. Never thought I’d be looking forward to watching Clippers games.

It’s going to be a battle but the ROY award is ’Reke’s to lose as long as he keeps these numbers up. As one StR member said, ’Reke’s game isn’t conducive to a shooting slump (wait was that you who said that? I can’t recall).

33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.

I admit that I was one of the people who was upset that Rubio was not drafted at #4, but I was okay with the pick of Tyreke. He didn’t fit the conventional PG mold, but I put my trust in Geoff Petrie. Boy am I glad Petrie has such an eye for talent. Tyreke will be MVP someday and Tyreke will be the best player to ever put on a Sacamento Kings jersey. Hopefully, Tyreke will feel the love that we have for him, and stay wearing that jersey for the rest of his career. I’ll wash your car, paint your house, mow your lawn, do your landry, vacuum your house, shine your shoes, make you breakfast in bed, and whatever you like if you stay in Sac! We love you Tyreke!

IMHO Its kind of like he was a sleeper in the draft

Other than Stuart Scott and a couple other people on draft day (dicky V) Reke never got much national media love. Like Griffin, Rubio, and even Thabeet got. I think some of that had to do with Derrick Rose, with everything he did by carrying Memphis to the championship game (He had a much better supporting cast than Tyreke did though), and his performance in such game, kind of made what Reke did in college seem pedestrian if thats fair to say.

Glad it happened though because with more hype who knows he may have gone second or third. As far as Rubio I’d be glad to draft him two years down the rode (although I believe he’ll be with Minnesota still. Pookey correct me on this)

by Gilo424 on Dec 1, 2009 10:54 PM PST up reply actions

As long as Rubio doesn't stop playing professional basketball

Minnesota will hold onto Rubio’s rights forever theoretically.

Haha I knew you would have the answer

thank you. That will definately be interesting to see when he comes over how that team does. A lot will change by then, but I wonder if Rambis will still be there. He doesn’t seem really like the right coach for Rubio (or Flynn for that matter).

What I meant by this and forgot to put in was

I’m not really suprised by what Tyreke is doing. I try to follow as much college ball as I can, although didn’t see all of his games. Tyreke is a man child, this is the reason he was the top recruit out of high school (Hence the reason he went to Memphis), and having watched countless videos on him, and documentaries, and seeing how he just was on cruise control in college its not all that shocking that he is doing what he is doing. When you watch the interviews of him on Kingsflix during practices he doesn’t seem all that shocked either. He’s humble but he knows that if he just goes out and plays the game he is going to get his.

by Gilo424 on Dec 1, 2009 11:00 PM PST up reply actions

This is pretty impressive

considering that he was drafted as a work in progress with tremendous upside. I mean, here is a kid learning the PG position on the fly, and his jump shot is improving but far from a finished product.

Congratulations, Tyreke. Kudos, Paul. Well done, Geoff.
