#10, baby.

With a bullet!

But seriously, he makes some valid points, especially about the Celtics. Seriously. Most obnoxious team ever, including the Shaq/Kobe Lakers and the Pistons of a few years ago. It’s like they have a “who can be the biggest jerk” pot of money sitting in the locker room to be awarded after the game.

No spoiler alert in my comments

I would call that a fair assessment by someone with no vested interest in the Kings.

Grant and Jerry

There used to be a time when people all over the basketball world tuned into League Pass to watch the Kings…I remember anytime I told someone I was from Sactown, they’d immediately bring up the Kings and then almost just as immediately make mention of Grant and Jerry’s homerific commentary and pedestrian in-game analysis. I have to admit, I “know” how bad are sometimes but that’s also why I love them - sorta like family…or drunk uncles. But I can’t help but thinking other NBA fans aren’t down with the Grant and Jerry show as much and that doesn’t help in terms of “watchability”, until of course, we’re back at the zenith of NBA basketball., at which point the product is so good, the packaging doesn’t need to be. Until then…

can we just refer to the announcers as our collective drunk uncles from now on?

As in, my drunk Uncle Jerry made a surprisingly sober point last night…

I don't have league pass this year, so my current sample size is small...

but I have yet to find a non-homerific crew out there. Does one exist?

by cabz on Dec 14, 2009 10:37 AM PST up reply actions

Grant and Jerry are at least average when it comes to crews out there

some are barely listenable(yeah, I made that word up). And I’m not talking about how they comment on the Kings. I’m talking about non-Kings games where I’m watching for that team(I’m talking about announcers like you Tommy Heinsohn).

My least favorite

Watching all the games on League Pass the past 10 years or so has given me the dubious opportunity to hear just about everybody. The ones I hate are

1. Knicks- If you get a chance to listen to them, try to figure out which one has a “word of the day” calendar.

2. GSW- Monta Ellis walks on water. Nobody on their team has ever committed a foul while wearing a Warriors uni.

3. Clippers-Lawler is stupid beyond belief.

4. Celtics- Nearly as arrogant as the team. Which is saying something.

They’re all homers, but IMHO, ours are a little more fair than most. If we get away with a foul, or get awarded a questionable call, Grant & Jerry will say that.

All in all, ours are not bad. At least ours don’t take cheap shots at other teams, players and coaches.

Knicks aren't so bad

Growing up in the NY area and listening to whats-his-name a million times – I found he grew on me. He’s not brilliant by any stretch, but certainly harmless and occasionally amusing.

what i got from this article

Is that we need to do all we can to pry Rodrigue Beaubois from Dallas. I would even take Dampier’s contract for the chance of seeing Evans and Beaubois on the court together.

I was a huge fan pre-draft.

I’m not really sure I would give up Omri for him but he looks like a stud.

no, i wouldnt give up any youngin's

But how well would Nocioni, Udoka, and Beno fit on the Mavs for Dampier and Roddy?

Dallas will NOT give up Dampier unless a really good deal comes

Damps’ contract is fully non guaranteed for 2010, which DAL is going to use, most likely for a sign and trade Source:Shamsports

Good List

Greater Concept! Bulls #30 . . . bingo!

Salmons and Brad Miller effect?

The Kings would have been 30th, or close to it, if the list were created with those guys still on our roster.

by cabz on Dec 14, 2009 5:14 PM PST up reply actions

Last year I would have rated the Kings in the mid to high 20’s.

Agreed

Very accurate article. The team has been more enjoyable to watch than any Kings team since Rock’s last year coaching.

Wait....Why is everybody clapping? Everyone around me is clapping.... I guess I should be clapping too... GO LAKERS!!! I hate living in So Cal

Thanks for this.

Really entertaining read. Mike Prada is spot on with Cleveland. With an exception of LeBron, this team is hard to watch. I also hate the fact that Shaq is not being used correctly…or maybe he’s just old. Maybe it’s a lil’ of both.

Being the biased bastard I am, I would place the Kings ahead of the Raptors, Mavs and Thunder. I don’t think these three teams play with the Kings-esque ‘harmony’ that Prada speaks of.

33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.

Preseason I wanted the Kings to strive to be the Rockets

I love watching the Rockets because the simply play the right way. They’re unselfish, hardworking, with each player knowing his own strengths and weaknesses. The Kings are on their way in that direction but with less veteran savvy. However, we have more star (budding) quality in Tyreke Evans. Which puts the Kings in the growing potential area similar to the Thunder.
It’s been quite a turnaround from last year in which I had a difficult time watching the Kings. That was a first in my lifetime.

Should have put the Lakers (when they’re losing). I love to watch them lose but hate when Kobe has that stupid smug smile going.

Disagree about Phoenix, we already know how this story is ending.

Haven’t watched the Bulls but can’t believe they’re the worst with Derrick Rose. Petrie looks brilliant again.
