Kings rookie guard Tyreke Evans was, as they say, all that. More impressive than he was during the preseason, which was impressive indeed. His numbers were great -- 17, 7, 3, 2 steals, 1 block, 1 turnovers in 32 minutes. His demeanor and cool even better. He passes to space fearlessly and intelligently; he sees passes and angles his teammates don't yet see. He plays hard. He rises to challenges. He is tough. He is level-headed. His touch at the rim is next level. Body control out of this world. There was an unmistakable feeling to tonight's game that within say, two years, the buzz before the Kings come to town will rival just about any other team in the league, simply because of Evans' presence. Rolling your eyes at this praise? Go check out Nate McMillan's comments below. He compared Evans to Magic Johnson. And was dead serious.

Who the hell is Tyreke Evans?

He's some SG that thinks he's a PG.

He thinks he's pookeyguru?
Well that’s not encouraging.

Of course not.

You guys want some mind melting stats?
Dwyane Wade: 37.9 MPG, 5.3 RPG, 6.0 APG: 3.1 TO, 1.6 SPG, 26.7 PPG, .427 FG%, .250 3P%
Tyreke Evans: 35.9 MPG, 5.0 RPG, 5.0 APG: 2.8 TO, 1.5 SPG, 20.0 PPG, .471 FG%, .250 3P%
Tyreke Evans is putting up very similar stats to Dwyane Wade… now. As a 20 year old rookie. His shot selection and percentage is better, Dwyane’s extra points are a result of 2 more minutes and almost 5 more free throw attempts a game.
We’ve got ourselves a budding superstar the likes of which Sacramento has never had before.

Good comparison
I have been thinking that this has been a better match. He is really starting to get some serious respect and would likely be the pick for ROY to this point.
Amazing.
I’ve heard the comparison to Wade around here before – mainly right before and after the draft. At that time, however, it was more along the lines of – ‘Gee, I hope this guy can reach a level that is a step below Wade’ or other comments along the mini-Wade line. From what I’ve seen, it appears his ceiling is quite a bit higher.
If he can add a consistent 18-20 foot jump shot, perennial all-star status is almost certainly in his future. Even without it, he’s playing at a level that already deserves all-star consideration.
The Rise Guys have been debating the Magic line all morning
They’re treating it like a straight up comparison when all Nate said was “he has a little Magic in him.” When did local radio turn into the Skip Bayless Memorial Contrarian Club? If you have to piss off your fans to the point they have to call in and defend themselves, your show sucks.

I generally like the Rise Guys on the rare occasions when I listen
But that is stupid. The only thing in my opinion that Magic and Tyreke have in common are that they are both tall, versatile guards for they’re position. Magic was the much better passer, also was more turnover prone, and a better shooter.

You should call in Muff
and show them those Wade v. Evans stats I posted above.

The Rise Guys have been on my sh-t list...
Ever since they kicked off that “you guys are horrible fans, why isn’t Arco sold out yet?” campaign that lasted about a week or so.
Plus they won’t shut up about Tiger, a subject I’m pretty sure I couldn’t care less about. I like Kreidler but they’ve become a formulaic, generic drive time show since FP was fired (not that I was the biggest Santangelo fan).
Plusl I only call in to Carmichael Dave or Koz since they’re the only guys on the air there that I respect (and Jason Ross when he’s on. Gotta love J-Ross.).
I have been tempted to call Sportsline when it’s just Lamb so Grant won’t hang up on me when I say “Peaches” again.

Grant was doing the horrible fans campaign thing
after the Pacers game. Started to piss me off. I think we’ll have to lead the Peaches chant at StR night Muff.

Grant was the worst
But the Rise Guys were still heavily involved in that discussion/calling out thing.
I really want to replace the de-fense chant with “Pea-ches!” when the PA plays the chant prompt during otherwise inconsequential defensive possesions. Might start tonight when my drunk ass finally gets to my seat for the second half.

My goal for StR night is
to get a Peaches chant loud enough that you can hear it on the TV broadcast.

You know I'm down
And Muff, I came up with the change from “de-fense” to “Pea-ches.” Don’t be stealing my ideas bro!!
Godfather of the "nice ass" movement.... the future begins now...
Hey, i never claimed it was my idea
I just really like that idea. Mostly because the overzealous PA guy really pisses me off. Games at Arco seem to be tailored to a person with ADHD on crack. Can’t have a game stoppage of more than 3 seconds without a hype guy getting on the mic and shouting at us to cheer for the dancing grannies or something. Which reminds me…
Note to everyone: boo the fuck out of the dancing grannies tonight, and every night.

I agree about the grannies
and we gotta make sure to chant “Peaches” so loud that everyone that’s not able to make it to thegame feels part of it (Aykis’ idea). Just for you kfan!!!
Godfather of the "nice ass" movement.... the future begins now...
We need a specific time to tune in
I may not be able to watch the entire game, but if I know its coming at a certain point I’ll tune in
www.mancancook.net
I'm guessing
It’ll be early in the game because people don’t usually chant ‘defense’ until they really get into the game, usually in the 2nd and 4th.
We could start in the first couple possessions of the 1st or 3rd. This could be arranged
Godfather of the "nice ass" movement.... the future begins now...
We could start the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

Even better
I called back in claiming ignorance as to why I was cut off and got Jon Dickinson to say “Did you call him Peaches? Yeah, that’s why.”
Needless to say I was very proud of myself.

As a detached observer, just thought I’d say that you guys are incredibly lucky to have a guy like Tyreke Evans on your team. I’ve been watching him a lot lately via League Pass. He combines Wade’s athleticism with Roy’s craftiness and touch at the rim. And he’s 20. He’ll be a bonafide superstar by next year at this rate. If given the choice, I would take him over anyone else in either of the previous two draft classes.

I'd like to see Griffin first before I completely agree with what you posted
but…yeah..Evans is a stud. He’s a crafty player for someone who plays below the rim
No
We’ll have plenty of time to do that in the next 15 years.

I was considering trying to start a "R-O-Y" chant tonight
Seems kind of difficult to chant though.

Sure.
Worst case, it sounds like you’re chanting R-O-I, which in French means King, and in business means return on investment, both of which make total sense.

Nevermind being the next Wade, Magic or Roy. He'll be the first Tyreke Evans.
However, (insert Maynor is greater than joke here).

Thabeet's per 48 minute averages for December
8 points, 14 boards, 8 blocks, 3 steals, 1 assist, 67% field.
Not suggesting this guy will ever belong in the same conversation as Reke. But it seems a little early to be throwing the Bust label around.
