I recall seeing ‘Reke make a few stop and pops and also the ’Beno spin and pop at the free throw line’ in the past. Maybe he’s just not comfortable using it in his offensive arsenal yet.

One more thing before I take off

I’m glad both coaching staffs didn’t make this game about just Reke vs. Jennings. Good games for both guys but I’m glad the Kings (the team) came out on top. Great win on the road, we need more of these.

Now, more drinking.

Go Kings!!!

I would've easily taken

a better game by Jennings but a Kings win. I’m sure Reke would’ve said the same. We’re just lucky we got both things (a win and a good game by Reke), thought BJ was very impressive in his own way.

Great win Kings but....

Brandon Jennings is a true point guard. And I’m glad he was because he coulda killed us if he would have taken some of the many open looks he had instead of passing the ball to include the team. If I was in a perfect world I would love to have a backcourt with jennings at the 1 and ’Reke at the 2. Guess i need to play some NBA 2K10 and make that happen!

Yes they are

I’d add Memphis in there as well. I put us in the “just out of the playoff race” group with the Clips and the Grizz. The other teams you mention are in the playoff race. Hopefully we can start winning on the road and jump up a group.

The Grizz

I knew I had forgotten another pretender. They’re also pretty good.

I think all the teams on that list can go either way. Naturally you’d have to put the teams that have previously made the playoffs a notch above just based on that alone.

Even the Jazz is a wierd ballclub. They can beat the Lakers one night and lose to Minny the next.

There are those that see the Suns as a lower level playoff contender, but I put them just below the Lakers. The Nuggets also figure to have home-court advantage in the first round. After that, I think it is really wide open.

This makes my weekend!

Reke is not a beast. He’s a cold-blooded killer destroyer. His poise at the end of games — wow! That’s two game winning plays this week. He’s a rookie.

Also, I apologize for being such a fair-weather fan.

I can only bring myself to post here when we win or lose in a hard-fought well played game.

But when we lose to TWolves or play poorly in losses — I can’t deal with it. It just hurts so much. Mommy, make the hurting stop.

by elfboy_ on Dec 19, 2009 9:26 PM PST reply actions

I can’t shake the negative feeling, though. I think that while we’ll enjoy watching these Kings, their inability to compete on either end could have them posting almost legendarily low wins this season.

Beno

played great defense on Jennings, and made some hugely clutch shots. I’d still trade him for expirings though. :)

Wow, Just saw Tyreke's game winner on CNN International.

It was the “World Sports Play of the Day”.

True, but...

they did make fun of Peaches’ screaming during the last few seconds. That makes me hate them just a little bit less.

Interesting quotes from the Bee Notes

Link first

Jennings on the matchup

“If anyone wants to talk about stats, yeah, he scored a lot, but overall I don’t think he had a better game than I did,” said Jennings, whose team fell to 9-5 at home. “It wasn’t a one-on-one battle, but I know how people get about the stats. … Take a look at that stat sheet.”

Coach Wetsphal on Spencer

“I thought Spencer played his best game of the year,” Westphal said. “I liked his aggressiveness. He was a factor on both ends, and we wouldn’t have won without him.” Hawes had 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including a dunk with 55 seconds left that put the Kings up 92-91.

That PW quote is from his

post game around the 1:50 mark. Question wasn’t about Spencer, but he made a point of giving props to Spence.

Don’t like that quote from Jennings. Much prefer the way Tyreke handled it in his post game around the 0:55 mark.

Man, I love everything about Tyreke, he’s just a professional guy, and at such a young age it’s awesome. I loved that he pounded fists with peaches and jerry when he ran off to the locker room!

quotes like that of Jennings are why I’ll never be a big fan of his. He loves to talk trash in the media. Hopefully he’ll grow out of it, as he is pretty young. And I know he was probably prodded into answering a question like that, and in that way, but dude’s just gotta learn to have a little tact or whatever lol

That Jennings quote is proof of his immaturity

He said something similar like that on Twitter too. He lets it get to him too much when people question his ability.

Only if he eventually grows out of it

Otherwise, it’s proof of his douchiness.

I came out of the game very imprssed with BJ, thinking he hac actually matured a bit and his game was a proof of that.

Then he opened his mouth…

bah - Jennings had a great game. He is a kid with a lot to prove and a bit of a chip on his shoulder

He can walk the walk, he can talk a bit. It’s all good.

I watched NBATV and they interviewed Tyreke after this win. First Eric Snow asked a question and then Matt Harpring. Matt Harpring introduced himself before asking his question. I do not believe Tyreke knew who he was but responded: “Hi, sir”.

Sorry, I know I am an old stick in the mud, but I just loved that. The kid has respect. Hat tip to his borthers and his upbringing. Now, elocution lessons would be helpful as this kid is going to be interviewed a lot more. A whole heck of a lot more.

Not an old stuck in the mud

He’s just really a good guy. I hate his college coach (refuse to say the name) but man, he continute to churn out great players ang great people. Rose is a stud on and off the court

Wait....Why is everybody clapping? Everyone around me is clapping.... I guess I should be clapping too... GO LAKERS!!! I hate living in So Cal

I love that too

And I’m barely older than Reke. It’s not an age thing. You gotta love a guy that’s great on and off the court.

That's his quote, unless Amick is changing his words (?)

Though I know reporters sometime reel you into making controversial answers.

Like section said, it’s only inmaturity if he grows out of it.

Not bad for a #4 pick

That dreaded lottery disaster, ended up being a blessing in disguise. If we got First pick, would we have still picked Evans? I think it would have automatically gone to Blake Griffen.

But I am damn glad GP stuck to his guns and we ended up with Rekeazoid instead of Rubio.

Jennings is a mouth, he had a great game too, but instead of leaving it at that, he has to kick a little dirt, to talk himself up a little. I don’t like this, but he can talk all he wants as long as we end up with the W.

I love, love, LOVE how the Bucks player on the bench collapses after seeing the ball go in.

This YT clip has the last couple of possessions of the game:
