"They have a pretty nice basketball team, and they are doing it without (injured) Kevin Martin, which is even more impressive," Pacers coach Jim O'Brien said. "They will compete for a playoff spot."

Would not be surprised if JOB was the next coach out

I know the doctors only wanted Dunleavy to play 20 minutes, but he was playing really well and could have given the Pacers a chance to win. Also, he waited way too long to put Dahntay Jones back in the game.

This could be a good team for Lawrence Frank to run though.

Current 6th, 7th and 8th seeds

San Antonio is 6th. I expect them to move up a little bit, and Phoenix to drop a bit from 2.
Utah is 7th. Simply having Eric Maynor guarantees them a playoff spot.
Now the 8th seed as I see it could go to one of 4 teams. The current 8th seed, Houston, and 3 others, OKC, New Orleans, and Sacramento. I think OKC is going to be the one that gets it, although its hard to tell how good the Kings could possibly be if Kevin Martin and Cisco come back and fit well into our new system.

I don’t think its that far-fetched. Who thought we’d be 9-8?

Here’s my prediction. If the Kings finish December at or above .500, they’ll have a chance at a playoff spot, because they face a tough schedule.

But God how good is it to hear Kings and Playoffs in the same sentence again

And not think of it as completely foolhardy?

It is pretty amazing

I think that I was like a lot of other people, fans, in that I thought we would have to go through a completely awful year in rebuilding this team. That we would have to tough out another season of basketball cring-worthy moments.

I think that having PW is great because he isn’t going to accept losing and knows that he can put the team on the floor in a way that wins. He truly deserves a tremendous amount of credit.

He said

Compete for, not ‘Thats a playoff team’. Gotta wins games on the road to be a playoff team – at least in the West.
The Pacers are going to win more games, but they really need more PG help, a lot more.

Agreed

I liked Hansbrough coming into the draft, but you can’t honestly think that TJ Ford is the future of your team at the point guard. They could have drafted someone like Ty Lawson. Point guard is definitely their biggest weakness.

Dahntay Jones has really come into his own though, I said it yesterday, but he has my vote for MIP.

Dahntay looks like a complete player now

Well, except for 3 pt shooting, but he can actually shoot pretty well now, most didn’t think he’d get there.

Crazy that hey have nearly 18 mil tied up in that group of PGs (TJ, Watson, Diener and Price)

Oooops + 5.2 mil I think they’re still on the hook for Tinsley. Grande big Ouch!

If we traded them Beno...

Who would they give up?

I’d want things they didn’t want to give up…Hibbert, Hansbrough.

But they might be willing to trade Foster 1-1 but I don’t know on either end. I’m sure they’d like to lose a PG in the deal. I’d take Watson and Hansbrough or Hibbert (heh heh)

I don't blame any of you for being cautious.

No one want’s to jinx this team and guarantee a playoff spot. But I’m glad Coach O’Brien wasn’t ‘smoking anything’ before he said it. Saying this team can make the playoffs doesn’t mean we have high expectations.

Just by watching the games you can tell this team is on the verge of being something special. I don’t think it’s too delusional or ignorant to say that this team can compete for a playoff spot (maybe as high as the 6th spot) since;

A) the Kings will improve even if they lose more than half of their games in December, B) Kev and Cisco aren’t even back yet, and C) the other teams in the Western Conference arguably – as good as they’re going to get and can be defeated.

The Kings have competed valiantly with the ATL, Dallas and Houston, all three of them are definitely playoff worthy teams. With a run here, less turnovers, and a stop there, the Kings would have won any of those three games. Whether the Kings make the playoffs or not, they’re heading in the right direction with two key players down, and they’re FAR from even playing at their best. Go Kings! Thanks, Coach O’Brien!

33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.

Bold prediction

Not too bold really but I can almost guarantee that when Kevin comes back the Kings will struggle prompting a tons of new posts about trading Kevin for expiring contracts and picks.

Is that suppose to be a reverse jinks?

And all these people will negate the fact

That when K-Mart comes back in January we play the Lakers (at LA), Dallas, Phoenix, Denver, Orlando twice, @Atlanta, @Miami, and @Utah. We do play GS twice though, and Charlotte twice. Charlotte is the opposite of GS in that their offense is horrible but their defense is superb.

Damn

Didn’t even look at the schedule but that looks like the toughest month for this team. I wasn’t really trying a reverse jinx; I truly believe there’s going to be an adjustment period which I’m sure most people here understand but there will always be some who won’t.

This has nothing to do with Reke, KEvin, or coach W, it’s just natural that it would take them a bit to get used to each other. Unfortunately many will jump the gun and blame it on Speed.

I’m not worried one way or the other because I know it’ll work in the long run. I hope they prove me wrong though because that would make this team even better without a doubt.

Let me just go out on a limb and say

That if the Kings go .500 in the month of January, that they’re guaranteed making the playoffs.

I think you're right

pending December results which I think will be 7-8. A 5-10 probably puts it out of reach.
