I really wish this game could have been on national TV.

I flipped to ESPN News just to see how long it would take them to talk about the Kings. We were first NBA story out of the box after MNF talk. I love the team getting some respect.

Thanks, Barragan.

If you don't think Tyreke Evans is a superstar,

You must be watching Memphis Tigers games and wondering why he’s not playing.

Had nothing better to do, so looked at your game to see Evans

And that was awesome.
As regards to Evans- he’s definitely a very, very good players, but I do make a distinction between superstars and stars and thus generally would like to wait a little bit before going so far as to call him a superstar – probably a star. I’ll admit I don’t think he’s as good as Billups or Parker, whom I don’t consider superstars either (more of stars persay), but he’ll probably surpass them once you give him a few more years of experience and such. This isn’t really a criticism, as to call a rookie as anywhere near the level of Parker is serious praise after all.

by Barragan on Dec 21, 2009 8:05 PM PST up reply actions

Agreed...if I'm reading this correctly.

I think Tyreke’s a star. I don’t give players the term “superstar” until they lead their teams to championships. That being said, I think Tyreke will be in the CP3 and Deron Williams echelon of “stars” in the next two seasons. I think that’s pretty good company.

33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.

by JETisKing on Dec 21, 2009 8:20 PM PST up reply actions

He's basically won 3 straight games for the Kings...

IN A ROW now, with 2 of those being absolutely CLUTCH final play of the game, one defensively and one offensively. If he’s not a ‘superstar’ yet, it’s not too much longer down the road.

by Smills91 on Dec 21, 2009 8:48 PM PST up reply actions

Sorry, but I totally disagree

Tyreke is light years ahead of where Parker and Billups were at a comparable age and might be better than both RIGHT now. I only say “might” out of respect to their titles, but I think if you take that away and just look with open eyes, he is on par with them right now, with a higher ceiling. Kid is only 20 years old. 27 games might be too early to lable him a superstar, but it’s enough to know how special he is.

Brockman, Greene, Udoka and Sergio....

These guys were able to stay in front of their men and that seemed to be all it took to throw the Bulls out of whack. Brockman put a body on Miller and Noah and changed the interior completely. Rose torched everyone until Sergio showed his quickness and once Rose couldn’t run by him he was useless.

Let’s also not forget Beno- without his first half play, this would have been a 45 point game in the mid-3rd instead of 35.

Missed the first quarter

finishing up some work. Turned the game on and it was 47-24. Watched most of the second quarter. Posted about the ongoing “ass-whuppin” here at halftime, then ate dinner. Missed most of the third quarter, and we were still down more than 20 when I tuned back in.

My wife was going to watch a movie she rented, “World’s Greatest Dad,” and I said she could use the TV I was watching the Kings game on, because frankly I didn’t think I really needed to watch any more. But Brockman was in, and I love watching him even in garbage time. And Ime was giving a great performance, so I started to watch, and watch, and watch.

Needless to say my wife started watching the movie in the other room, and I’m glad it worked out that way.

I had a feeling when they got within 13, and when Ime made that corner three I thought it was possible. And you could feel the way the Bulls were choking that someting was afoot. Just a tremendous game. Tremendous.

I thought the key no-call was when Tyreke took it on Deng and it could have been a charge call, particularly considering it was in Chicago. That’s when I knew we were in the driver’s seat. Tyreke was not playing very well, even in the early part of the fourth, but he stepped up big when it counted. I think he saw the effort going on and knew he had to get it together.

I think Del Negro is going to get fired soon. I know I am going to have to watch the replay of the second half later.

I was going to stop watching this in the 2nd half...

But I thought, no the bulls were on a non-sustainable tear in the 1st 2 quarters, and we were getting blocked by the rim – there is a chance the bulls will tighten up…

Earlier, I was wondering what sort of adult club our team had been to last night.

And there’s a part where Ed says he loves Brockman, but it’s time to bring JT back in.

Funny thing is, Westphal listened, but he brought in JT for Donte instead to cover Deng, while Brockman got Noah. And JT shut Deng down, and naturally Brockman devoured Noah in one bite and spit him out, then won the key jump ball.

Naturally Beno came in at the same time for Sergio, which was probably also good because Sergio was starting to implode.

Yes

At that point the Bulls were turning it over but we couldn’t buy a basket. We needed offense so JT could’ve made up for Brockman’s hustle plus provide offense. I’m glad PW stuck with Brocktimus though. He was a BIG part of that comeback in the end

Brockman and Udoka lit a HUGE fire in the middle of the 3rd.

Bulls shot as well as they could in the 1st half but then cooled off tremendously in the 2nd half.

Bulls also had a sh*tload of turnovers in the 4th quarter and all the momentum was with SACTOWN with 8 minutes to go.

AWESOME GAME.

I got home, did a few things around the house and then checked the score. I said “fuck it” when we were down by like 30 and went to dinner with the wife. Sure wish I’d turned this one on.

Everytime I check in on this website or on ESPN I am reminded that I get to root for a team that shouldn’t be as good as they are. First they impressed with their grit and hustle and heart. Then with their ability to actually win some games. Now they are able to come back from a 35 point deficit? This is absurd. I remember when Exhibit G questioned whether or not he’d raise his unborn child a Kings’ fan. I had the same worry about my own. Glad we both decided to do so.

Tonight’s beer is dedicated to this squad of youngsters, most of whom would not be old enough to enjoy a frosty one with me. Thank you.

The Kings are just kinda hanging around until about the 9:40 mark. Down 92-74, Taj Gibson gets called for 3-Seconds. Then the dominoes start falling. Udoka for 3. The Donté block that leads to the Sergio-to-Tyreke fast-break dunk. Suddenly, it’s a legitimate game again, and every time they cut to VDN, he just looks lost.

how about a 1st round matchup, #8 kings vs #1 lakers?

I have a feeling this kings team with 1 or 2 more pieces would make a team that can win in the playoffs, with its heart, hustle, and toughness

Just got home from the game

The GF and I were laughing the whole fourth quarter as it got closer thinking it was a giant practical joke since we thought it was a disaster after the first half. Then it turned in to “sit down and be quiet before someone stabs you” for cheering too loud when the Kings took the lead. Was an amazing game to be at.

Some Postgame quotes:

Coach Westphal: “…the guy who turned the game around for us was Jon Brockman. He did everything out there and gave our offensive players a chance to score. We brought him on the trip and up until now all he was doing was eating.”

(Question for Tyreke): When did you think you had a chance to win this game?

’Reke Havoc: “When we got up.”

just watched the game on tivo after I got home

totally bizarre. What a collapse for the books. To me, it was all Udoka. He scored 15 of Kings first 22 in 4th during the comeback, then Evans asserted his will. And of course, Brockman was key. WIthout any one of these efforts, we lose. But amazing nonetheless. Team has proven nothing if not heart this year.

Somebody please post the Kings video. The Chicago announcers were dumbfounded.

Rookie of the year...

My thought: Everybody is up on Jenning after the 55 point game, but where is the team in a single player scoring that many points?

Tyreke makes his team better AND he makes the big plays (last two games anyone?).

Great game.

by DirtyDribblers on Dec 21, 2009 10:26 PM PST reply actions

I am all about Tyreke love and agree he should be the RoY

but Brandon Jennings is a worthy adversary. He has been very clutch for the Bucks and like the Kings, really are overacheivers this season (and with their main star, Michael Redd, out or not back to speed).

IMHO, Brandon Jennings is a future All-Star, Tyreke Evans a future Superstar. My biased opinion.

It was pretty close on the replay

and Jerry said he got it off on time. But it seemed late.

After watching the replay, another huge factor was our ability to handle the press they threw at us starting about the five-minute mark. JT actually brought the ball up a couple of times. They obviously had scouted us out and saw how we had trouble handling the ball down the stretch in some of our recent games.

I prefer for teams to press us CC

It gives the Kings a better chance at moving the ball and getting into sets quicker. That makes the offense work better.

I agree

Because we tend to slow things down too much at times, and we are much more effective when we play like we did at the end of the night tonight: solid D and reckless abandon leading to solid passing, rebounding and shooting.

We actually could have easily beaten them by 10 points or more if we hadn’t missed so many layups.

Kings fan at the game...

Was at the game — not many Kings fans there, the entire building was just stunned at the end. Chicagoans couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe it — it was amazing!!!

From my view, it looked like Rose and Deng just had their way with Nocioni (and the Kings) for the first while, but when Greene came in, he helped a lot. Then Brockman and Udoka in the second half played out of their minds, lockdown defense, so the Bulls started settling for jump shots (which they missed), and the Kings started to get rolling, even getting several borderline calls from the referees in their favor. The energy and effort from the Kings was what changed the game in all aspects. Also, it seemed like Rose and Noah sat out a while at the beginning of the 2nd half, and Del Negro was then slow to put them back in, too little too late it turned out. Sergio and Beno also played well.

Wow is right!!! A stunning victory!!! May there be more!!! Go Kings!!!

Not too much I can say that hasn’t been said, but this was too epic of a game to say nothing.

I left work and we were down 33. Then I got a text while Christmas shopping with the final game score and at first thought it was an error. Rushed back to my friend’s place and watched the 2nd half of it being replayed on NBA LP. Kept switching between the Kings and Bulls’ feeds. Listening to Grant and Jerry get more and more excited, while the Bulls announcers got more and more stunned was beautiful.

Yea, it looks like they have quite a few contributors

The sad site is Milwaukee. They must have like 5 members.

It looks like they have trouble filling the stands right now as well. Really empty in our last contest.

People haven't figured it out

There isn’t a timetable, but once more fans figure it out Brew Hoop will get more exposure and so on & so forth.

While we won the game,

I really don’t think we played that well. Brockman and Ime were exceptional but everyone including Reke missed a lot of easy shots and the playmaking was disjointed.

Chicago just decided they didn’t want to win and our young guys obliged them.

Del Negro should be fired. No excuses for that performance.

Hahaha! Good one!

But I feel my man is about to bust through this slump (in other words, he’s about to pass on to someone else his case of desmondmasonitis!)

There can only be one Noce!

by NoceOne on Dec 22, 2009 6:37 PM PST up reply actions

no doubt about it

shooters have slumps but have to shoot their out of them. Noce is more than a shooter but he seems to thrive off of his offense.

No worries about Nocioni, he is too tough to be a problem but this slump needs to end

Woooow. All of a sudden form 1-9 Road wins, we win back to back after losing to Min. Making positve NBA / Sac records this season….

Now lets see what we can do against the heavy hitters!

Did anyone hear/read JTs comments about how Kings are aiming for playoffs, and if thats not your mindset, you might as well not turn up….

Positive, energetic, exciting and YOUNG……once again Woooooooooooow!!!

Short version that won’t give Aykis a seizure:

Long version:

I’ll make a .gif for the ‘Big Balls’ shot as soon as I can find a decent Youtube clip of it.

Tyreke's repossessing all the Arenas

Milwaukee’s, United Center, Gilbert.

Coz Tyreke in the 4th Q is The First National Bank of Tyreke. Money.

There's nothing to fear but everything.

Especially if you find the angle

that shows Elie doing it back at him – yes!

That's the thing. I need the 'full frontal' angle.

I found one clip where we see get like a profile view of Tyreke—that just won’t cut it.

Just rewatched it

Unbelievable game. We were still down 12 with 4+ minutes to go, but Chicago only scored like 4 points in the last 5 minutes. Crazy, crazy win. Guess this makes up for the Portland collapse.

Ball movement ... is like jogging for most people: They do it occasionally, and it makes them happy. Then they go back to not doing it. - Henry Abbott
