A view from Chicago

I am writing this after some sleep and am still trying to digest what the hell happened last night.  I was lucky enough to be at the United Center last night to get to see one of the best games of the season.  To come back by 35 in a quarter and a half on the road is nearly impossible with a group of seasoned vets, let alone a Kings team that only beat an eastern conference team once last year.  I’ll break down this game into the emotions and thoughts from Chicago.

First Half:

Both Nocioni and Casspi both got warm welcomes as expected, Salmons received a lukewarm one.  I realize that Miller needed to be traded but it will always be impossible for me to not cheer for the guy.  From the beginning of the Game Deng was just killing it and looked like everything he was advertised to be 2-3 seasons ago.  When the gf brought me a beer I could tell I was on the verge of “I can’t believe how much money I spent on this turd of a game” mode and decided to just enjoy seeing the kings play.  If there was one play that summed up the first half it would be JT’s missed dunk with no one even near him.

Third Quarter:

I was taking a good amount of teasing from the section I was in and really when you are down 35 you just take it.  When the lead started shrinking it was more of a joke than anything at the time to be honest. While getting 35 down to 29, then 25, and to 19 over time you don’t want to get overly invested in it but hard not to get excited.  I was still at the point where my neighbor was telling me how when they score 100 points I can get a free Big Mac, fantastic!  It was strange because the lead kept shrinking and the big run was being done by a group no one really expected.

Fourth Quarter:

WOW! When the lead was down to 9 points the gf leaned over and reminded me that there was no need for me to get stabbed because the game was close I knew it was good.  When the lead came that all went out the window and was trying to believe what was happening.  Each time Rose went down the floor your heart would sink but it just didn’t happen which was crazy enough.  When Rose was at the line a lady in front of me started yelling out things about the south side and I knew I wasn’t in Nevada anymore.  When the final score came in it was insane, I mean what just happened? I think I ruined some kids first date behind me during the cheering and another lady almost followed me into the bathroom.  I was smart enough to cover up for the bus ride home but everyone could tell because of the giant ass grin on my face.

 GO KINGS!
