This Weeks Asinine Trade Thread: Dec. 21st

This is the place for your well thought out trade idea!

This is also the place for all your pipe dreams, or for some wacky ill-advised nonsense just because the numbers match up in that Trade Machine Thingy.

Trade for players you love, trade away players you hate.  Just trade to make the team better without regard to emotion - or make it all about emotion.

HINT:  Think big man, young and developing, big time Stud - or short term enough so that you won't be crushed by "that kills our future flexibility!" comments.

But actually - do whatever you want!

Thats what this is here for, to keep other posts from wandering into 'I think we could get LaBron!'.

Out-think Geoff Petrie!

Please out-think Mike Dunleavy and anyone ever associated with the Clippers

You never know, you may gain wide acclaim and Fame for your brilliant move!

Surgeon General Warning:  Only abstinence provides full protection.

Your choice - let 'er rip!

Re-trade T-mac and our first rounder for Bosh

If I'm Houston

I would want more for McGrady. Otherwise, I would just let the contract expire, as opposed to taking on Noc and Garcia’s debt load when I already have Ariza and Battier.

I'll bite...

lots of talk about Okafor, but what about Chandler (the guy he was swapped for). Huge $11M contract, but only 2 years. The trade is K-9, Mays for Chandler (He and GWallace are in a pissing match and Charlotte has Nazr) and serious financial issues as I believe the team might be for sale. Then at the deadline we try and deal Noc for any expiring.

by longtimelistenerfirsttimecaller on Dec 22, 2009 12:48 PM PST reply actions

unfortunately Ty Chandler has some 'get along" difficulties

why disrupt this great team chemistry for a guy who is oft injured and oft disgruntled. Pass.

I hope I did the link right

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ykuxwj4
but it is Andres Nocioni & Sean May to orlando for Brandon Bass, Adonal Foyle, & JJ Redick. Orlando loves 3pt shooting sf’s they can also use as pf’s & we get a low post PF with a reasonable salary that saves us about 2-3 mil of nocioni’s contract & a defensive center. May & Redick are just expiring throw-ins to make the salaries work

by allbenji's on Dec 22, 2009 12:56 PM PST reply actions

also

no bad salaries taken back that could cripple us like chandler, okefor, or dalembert

by allbenji's on Dec 22, 2009 1:00 PM PST up reply actions

Adonal Foyle is an absolute charming guy but he is a very limited player

can block some shots and defend but has hands that make Duane Causwell seem like Rachmaninoff.

Brandon Bass is an undersized PF – you are trading away two – and still have Hoss Brockman. I like his game but the Kings need front line shot blocking, rebounding defense.

JJ Redick is trying to be Beno Udrih.

Interesting trade that works out in the machine

3-team deal

NO
Kenny Thomas (Sac) expiring

Toronto
Emeka Okafor (NO)
Andres Nocioni (Sac)

Sacramento
Chris Bosh (Tor)
Marcus Banks (Tor)

The foundation of the deal is NO getting rid of Okafor’s big contract (and thus not just cap help, but true financial help), Toronto gets some good value in Okafor to replace Bosh and the Kings get their interior presence who is on an expiring contract. Nocioni and Banks were added in because receiving only Bosh put Sacramento over the cap. You could say that this is even more valuable for the Kings because not only are they getting Bosh, they are getting rid of Nocioni, but in return they are receiving deadweight salary from the Raptors in Banks’ 2-year contract.

Interesting

Add Sac’s first rounder going to Toronto and maybe a young cheap player going to NOLA and I think is more likely.

Looks really good

Another one

Four team deal

NO
Kenny Thomas (Sac)
Kurt Thomas (Mil)
Roko Ukic (Mil)

Toronto
Emeka Okafor (NO)
Spencer Hawes (Sac)

Milwaukee
Francisco Garcia (Sac)

Sacramento
Chris Bosh (Tor)

Or…

NO
Kenny Thomas (Sac)
Spencer Hawes (Sac)
Roko Ukic (Mil)

Toronto
Emeka Okafor (NO)
Joe Alexander (Mil)

Milwaukee
Francisco Garcia (Sac)

Sacramento
Chris Bosh (Tor)
Francisco Elson (Mil)

Comparison

I don’t know why I had Hawes going along with Okafor to Toronto in the first one, but the numbers worked out so I still posted that one.

The second one gives edm exactly what he wanted going to NOLA, another young cheap player in Spencer Hawes. Ukic and Thomas are off the books after this season and Hawes gives them an intriguing big who would be interesting to watch with Paul. Milwaukee gets a tough player who can play both SG and SF. I would have gone with Nocioni instead because of his versatility but the numbers didn’t work. In return, the Bucks give up a couple expiring contracts. For trading their great young F, Toronto ends up with another very good PF/C in Okafor (at a cheaper price) and an expiring contract to get rid of some money on Milwaukee’s end. And finally Bosh comes to Sacramento to create a starting 5 of Evans, Martin, Casspi/Greene/Nocioni, JT, Bosh.

Intriguing, no?

by nobodyinparticular on Dec 22, 2009 1:54 PM PST up reply actions

I think they only way you are getting rod of Garcias contract right now is make the team recieving Noc/Udrih/kmart do it as part of the deal. I dont think any team does this on its own

Interesting

I would think that grabbing a very good PF/C for a FA would be a good trade for Toronto. if it’s necessary, I guess I could see the Kings trading their 1st round pick away.

Take a look at the other trade I put out there with Hawes going to NOLA. If a 1st rounder goes to Toronto, what do you think about that?

5 Team Trade

I got one that will blow your mind..And our pocketbooks trying to resign people but it will make sure Sacramento is the hotspot in California

5 team blockbuster trade:

Raptors get: Kmart, Garcia, and May(Must take Garcia to get Martin)

Miami gets : Noc and Beno (3pt shooters)

Bobcats get: K9 and Greene ( as said above he and GWallace are in a pissing match and Charlotte has Nazr along with salary dump)

Clips get: Tyson Chandler(I think he could work well in Clips system and he is shorter contract)

Kings get : D.Wade, Bosh, Kaman, Derozan and D. Brown(Bobcats)
We would be starting a lineup of

Tyreke > Sergio
D.Wade > Derozan
Casspi > Udoka > D Brown
Bosh > Thompson > Brockman
Kaman > Spencer

And we could pick up a couple of guys outside for cheap contracts for 12 and 13..We could probably get like F/C like skinner and another brockman/udoka type player

Judgment day is coming!

by Widowwolf on Dec 22, 2009 2:12 PM PST reply actions

Wade and Tyreke?

talk about two players whose talents match too closely.

On the plus side...

Kings go on to win a championship this season, set the record for losses in 2010-11 season, draft either Perry Jones, Rodney Williams or Harrison Barnes in 2011 and we are on our way up again.

Evans
Jones/Williams/Barnes
Casspi
JT
Kaman

5 team blockbuster trade:Part 2

I got one that will blow your mind..And our pocketbooks trying to resign people but it will make sure Sacramento is the hotspot in California

Cavs get get: Noc and Beno (3pt shooters)

Miami gets :Kmart and Garcia(Must take Garcia to get Martin)

Bobcats get: K9 and May ( as said above he and GWallace are in a pissing match and Charlotte has Nazr along with salary dump)

Clips get: Tyson Chandler(I think he could work well in Clips system and he is shorter contract)

Kings get : D.Wade, lebron, Kaman, D Cook(heat) and J.Williams(Cavs)and Skinner(clips)
We would be starting a lineup of

Tyreke > Sergio
D.Wade > Greene > Cook
Lebron > Casspi > Udoka
Thompson > Brockman > J.Williams
Kaman > Spencer>Skinner

Sorry no bosh on this one, but it gives us 13 like what we have now, but 2 DNPs will have to come from somewhere not injuries. We could resign 1 player at max(Probably lebron) move casspi to the 2 and have another 10 million to spare for resigning Brock, Sergio, Udoka, skinner and J.williams.

All thsi equals .Championship+Ring, New Arena, not a bare cupboard and only 6 million more this year in salary and rids us of nasty contracts (for 1 new huge one) which honestly for one of those two guys could be traaded any time in the future if needed

Aykis16 trade of the Week

I can’t be fully called a Kings fan if I don’t do a trade K-Mart deal right?

Kings trade: Kevin Martin and Sean May
Kings get: Eric Gordon, Marcus Camby, and Deandre Jordan

Clippers trade: Eric Gordon, Marcus Camby, and Deandre Jordan
Clippers get Kevin Martin and Sean May

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ykwvdx9

Kings trade Kevin for another lights out efficient scorer, who is younger and less experienced. They also get Camby, who would solidify our defensive rebounding and interior defense for the duration of his contract, which we’ll let expire. We also get to see what we have in Deandre Jordan, who has showed some great flashes.

The Clippers do this because it lets people move to there normal positions once Blake Griffin gets back, and they will have some of the best firepower in the league in their backcourt.

LOOKING AHEAD

Utah – get K-9’s expiring contract
Kings – get Kyrylo Fesenko and Utah’s #1. I will admit I don’t know how salary numbers work when draft picks are involved. Might need to take on Korver as well.

Utah basically gave away Eric Maynor today for salary reasons. So they’re obviously concerned about finances.

Trade away – our #1 and K-mart (might need to throw in Utahs #1 too)
Kings – get #1 overall and draft John Wall.

Wall, Evans, Casspi, Greene, Garcia, JT, Hawes, Fesenko moving forward (could even throw Beno’s name in there!)

you can substitute other people for Fesenko as well… Tyrus Thomas, maybe Rudy Fernandez or Travis Outlaw, but that still gives us a logjam at the 2 and 3.

by storageg on Dec 22, 2009 9:43 PM PST reply actions

you may be on to something storageg

I believe (and I have no facts to back this up) that Fesenko or Kostas was held in check by the Jazz wanting to have someone take Harpring’s contract as well. Now that Harpring is gone they may be more amenable to other trades.

by tomkanti on Dec 22, 2009 10:27 PM PST up reply actions

i'd take NYK's pick instead... altho it might be harder to get.

The premise of this trade is based on what’s been stated on STR before, we’re not likely to get a marquee free agent. And we probably have to build through the draft and then add “complimentary pieces” through FA. I wish it wasn’t the case and that we had a legit shot at people like Wade, Bosh, etc… but reality can suck at times. A chance to get a guy like John Wall doesn’t come around too often. And I can see him meshing well with Evans. I know some people might not like the idea of giving up Kmart for a pick, but we won’t get anything better if we traded him for a player(s). Those are some of my random thoughts. Cap space doesn’t do much unless you can use it and we won’t be able to use it on a big name. So we can use kmart, noc, k-9, and even beno as trade bait to build through the draft, etc…

My second attempt to unload Hawes for Randolph :)

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ykkspwc

3 team BLOCKBUSTER deal involving Kings, Warriors, and Jazz.

Kings get:
A. Randolph
R. Turiaf
A. Kirlenko

Jazz get:
A. Nocioni
S. Hawes
K. Thomas
S. Claxton

Warriors get:
C. Boozer

Why do the Kings do it?
Anthony Randolph is going to be good (at least I believe he will be if Petrie actually pulled the string on this one because in Petrie I trust). Although the Kings will have to take on Kirlenko’s and Turiaf’s bad contracts, I could see them adding some defense and size to the team… plus it won’t be too long until they turn into decent expirings.

Why do the Warriors do it?
I read that they’re shopping Randolph and are looking to get an experienced big — Boozer’s name was mentioned in the article.

Why do the Jazz do it?
Hawes and Nocioni seem like they’d be a good fit in Utah. Plus, this deal will let them shed some salary.

I have a two team trade with the Clippers

Kings get:
R. Butler
M. Camby
D. Jordan
M. Collins

Clippers get:
K. Martin
S. Hawes
S. May
Kings do this because:
They get a nice young center in Jordan as well as then interior defense of Camby. they also get a spot up shooter and solid defnder in Butler and a nice perimeter defender in Collins. More importantly, Camby,Collins, and Butler represent about !5 million in expirings.

That combined with K9 and Serod’s contracts mean about 25 million in cap space for 2010. That would allow a couple of mle guys like Mcgrady and J. O’neal. They would also be able to o after a guy like K. Lowry and still have over 10 million to spare after those signings. To me those ove would add more depth than going after a max guy.

Clippers do this because:
They get solid young players to build around Griffin, Kaman, and Gordon.

by bukey on Dec 23, 2009 3:20 AM PST reply actions

So...we're trading away Kevin Martin and Spencer Hawes for:

one of the worst players in the NBA (Rasual Butler), career PER of 10.8 who is 30 years old

a 2nd year C drafted in the second round that turns the ball over almost 1/3 of the time he touches it this year and has 5 blocks and 2 assists for the entire year.

and expirings, so maybe, if we’re lucky, we can sign T-Mac and Jermaine O’Neal to expirings with the money?

We’re trading Kevin because he’s injury prone, even though he’s clearly a team guy and works his ass off, for….drumroll….T-Mac?!???!? One of the most injury prone guys ever, and a complete douche?

I love this thread.

by ForThree on Dec 23, 2009 5:58 AM PST up reply actions

Smh

McGrady was just a name I threw out there. But he’s just as good a scorer if not better than Martin while being a slightly better defender and ball handler. Also, he’ll provide another late game go to guy for cheaper than Martin. Jordan has just as much if not more upside than Hawes while being a better athlete and post scorer/defender while not being as soft for a lower price tag.

You also gain Camby who helps with interior defense. Butler is a solid defender and career 37% 3pt shooter. PER is a horrible stat. The big picture is the 25 mill that would come off the books with this deal. 25 million give A LOT of flexibility. Btw, McGrady doesn’t have a history of being a bad teammate. And he’s no more injury prone than Martin.

by bukey on Dec 23, 2009 7:46 AM PST up reply actions

you aren't getting rid of any bad contracts

you are trading good contracts (Martin, Hawes). Rework this deal to get rid of Beno or Nocioni and then I’d buy your cap space argument, but we’re going to get K9’s and Sergio’s contracts to disappear regardless, so they aren’t a reason to do the deal.
