Not as big as the trade Kevin BS but....

I'm also hearing "get rid of Cisco because we have Omri" stuff. And I know we defend the whole "trade Kev" BS with "Just watch, K-mart is unselfish, he'll be fine, best backcourt etc.

Not much defense for the whole "we have Omri, trade Cisco" stuff, though. Seriously, can you imagin having the OMF and the CMF on the floor @ the same time? Shit, together, they'd just scare teams into losing. OK, that was silly, but having the intensity of those guys, and maybe Brock-ness on  the floor @ the same time? Wow.

Cisco is Base Year Player

It is almost impossible to trade a Base Year compensated player. No need to discuss merits of such a proposed trade, it won’t happen.

We'll see how the season goes

and worry about that this summer. If Noce gets traded that leaves some room for both.

agreed.

This team is fun from top to bottom. There are so many lineups that I want to see in the game – not because I think they will be successful, but because I think they would be so energy fueled that it might make my face explode.

KINGS 09-10 YEARBOOK VOTING:
Lineup most likely to spend more time diving on the floor for loose balls than winning games:
cisco, donte, noc, brock, jt

Lineup least likely to be successful despite the entertainment factor:
sergio, omri, donte, cisco, brockness

Most Badass lineup you wouldn’t want to fight…ever:
‘Reke “the Champ” Evans, Omri “Israeli Military” Casspi, Donte “The Wild Card”, Ime “The Shy Intimidator” Udoka, and Jason “All Out” Thompson.
(I would have listed the Brockness Monster if it weren’t for his silly teddy-bear smile).

You're right avishai, there has been a ton of "trade Cisco"

talk, here and elsewhere. The logic behind the trade talk is in line with the “trade Kevin” speculation with the major impetus being that with Omri and Donté firmly ensconced at the 3 we no longer need Cisco and his full MLE k. After barely being able to identify the team’s core players going forward last May, I feel like I’m metamorphosing into Kevin Pritchard who never seems to want to trade anybody on his team.

In my homer heart, logic cast far aside (including his BYC status), I just can’t imagine the Kings without Cisco. It’s like those “can’t have too much good stuff” ads and in my opinion you can’t have too much toughness, heart, clutchness, fearlessness, inconsistency, whac decision making and just the almost indescribable Cisconess that Flaco brings to every game, injured or not.

At some point there will be actual basketball reasons for considering trading Cisco but that point is not now.

It's not an issue of "get rid of Cisco."

It never was.

The issue was, and will continue to be, I have Martin, Evans and Beno ahead of him at shooting guard. I have Evans, Beno and Sergio ahead of him at point guard. And I have Omri, Noc, and realistically Greene ahead of him at small forward. Trading Nocioni still leaves two younger guys with way more upside at the 3.

He’s a good team guy, but on this team, he’s sitting next to Sean May. Down the line, if we can get something decent for him, even a high draft pick, I take it. He’s a 6th man somewhere, but barring something bizarre, it ain’t gonna be here.

Except

Nocioni will hopefully be traded soon, Cisco is better than Beno at a lot of things (not Beno shooting 50+% from the floor, but he’s not going to end the season there unless he gets hit by a bus on the way to the game tonight) and a ton better than Dé3. Sergio is a 10 minute, oh shit let’s change everything, once every half-dozen games or so guy, and not shown many indications he’ll be more than that.

Good veterans are nice to have on young teams, they bring continuity. Garcia is the consumate team guy, and if we’re keeping one of our $5-$7 mil vets, which we surely have room to do, I hope its him. Honestly, the other two aren’t even close for me, though I can see how others would disagree.

I do think Cisco has a shitload more equity with the organization than Beno or Noc, so the rumors of his upcoming lack of playing time or being traded are vasty overrated.

I think Beno and Cisco will end up being here long term.

The only reason I question Cisco’s long term health to this franchise is only because with Beno, Reke, Omri among others what does Cisco offer that any of those 3 doesn’t?

There is no question the franchise would move Noc for an expiring contract IF THEY COULD.

Minutes

if there’s no Noc…

Martin 36, Evans 36, Omri 30, Beno 16, Garcia 16, Dé3 10

something like that would work, and the advantage of keeping Garcia around is if Casspi/Donte have some rough patches, Cisco ably fills those minutes until they get it straightened out.

I agree with you that Noc would be gone for expirings sometime soon, were the option available.

Realistically

Cisco > Donte eight games out of 10. It’s those two out of 10 that keep you drooling.

how about

Garcia and May to Orlando
for J.J. Redick and Matt Barnes
Redick could fill Garcia’s role, and at a lower cost. If it doesn’t work out, there EC’s anyways.

Cisco for Gortat actually works (I think)

as they’re both BYC

But, like BJ, I don’t want to lose Cisco either.

I'd trade Cisco for Gortat in a heart beat. But, why would the Magic do it?

There’s a lot of love coming from STR members but I don’t hear anybody elsewhere begging to take Cisco from us. We have 3 surplus players with big contracts and only Beno would get any attention on the open market. If we could move the other two over the next 2 years I’d be happy.

I give Cisco 1 more year then his gone. Noc has to go this year, shooting slump and all. Cisco has value as Martins backup while forcing the opposition to play their PG on Evans and being the backup SF when Donte moves to PF. But, after next years draft and Free Agency we hopefully will have a surplus of bigs and Donte can move back to SF making Cisco our next Bobby Jackson. Loved but not needed.

although thier back SG is JJ Redick

who I doubt they’ll keep. He can play some PG in that system as well.

Interesting, I think Beno is the least movable of the three, by far.

His contract is the worst, and I just don’t think 6 weeks of hot shooting counts for that much.

Free Omri...trade.Noc.

by ForThree on Dec 23, 2009 6:27 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Yep I think this is absolutely the case.

Beno is the hardest to move, and he plays really well with Tyreke too. There is no reason to assume that Cisco will be a better fit with Tyreke than Beno is until it happens.

At USC we're not snobs, we're just better than you.

PG's are harder to find, than backup SF's

Cisco’s remaining contract is $3.4M less than Beno’s over 3 years. And, Noc’s is only $3.9M less than Cisco’s if you don’t pick up eithers option year. So, if your considering only the money, yes Beno might be the harder to move.

But,there are teams where Beno could be the starter, but Cisco & Noc are most likely 6th or 7th player at best. Add, that to the fact that PG’s are harder to find than SG’s and SF’s, and I think $3M more for Beno over Cisco is a bargain. And, $6M more for Beno over Noc, with an extra year added in is a far better deal.

If your looking for a player to fill a role, then Beno is the best bargain. If their just fillers in a trade that your just going to dump or sit on the end of your bench, then of course Noc is the player.

Beno

Sure seems to be on his way to convincing people that he’s a decent starter at PG and a serviceable back-up 2.

Anyone watching anyway. The idea of a small ball 2nd string That can score is really hot right now . . . .

why would Orlando

Trade Redick and Barnes? For Garcia and May? May is fat and will never get in the game, and Why trade for a guy who may not come back as strong as he was playing last season….
