Tyrus Thomas to be moved
I read on Yahoo! Sports that Tyrus is no longer in the Bulls plans and they will move him most likely before the trade deadline.
As of right now, NYK are the front runners in a trade that would send Thomas to the Knicks along with Jerome James expiring contract for Al Harrington.
Hypothetically, is there an offer that you guys as Kings fans would like to push towards Thomas?
He would be a nice fit in a three man rotation consisting of Hawes, JT and TT.
Nobody can deny the potential Thomas would bring and we know hes extremly athletic. I believe with the right coaching he could become a good player in this league. It would certainly be fun to watch a high flying team of Reke and TT along with our already solid core.
Just something to talk about that could improve our team. What do you guys think?
Here is the article for those who want to see it.

I would send them K9 but I think
They are looking for scoring. Maybe some kind of 3 way trade could be worked.
I would love Tyrus getting his stuff together and coming off the bench for us after he signs a 2 year contract for a reasonable amount. But probably some team will want to over pay him. I do think he is an interesting choice for the new look Kings. If Westphal, Truck and Mario could put him on the right track.

I doubt the Kings are willing to trade for him
But Cisco for Ty kind of makes sense to me. Omri and Greene surely are the future at the SF position.
Omri is in the King's future
Greene is the flicker of light at the end of a tunnel that just got a little brighter, and, you don’t know if it will still be lit when you get there. Garcia, soon to turn 29, should give us 4 more good years assuming the injury doesn’t affect him,
That last point also means he is untradeable until he puts in 20 good games in a row.
the idea is that they wanna save cap still
Al Harrington’s contract is done after this year, but Thomas is a restricted agent. The other thing here is that Thomas is hurt, and won’t be back for a bit, whereas Harrington can some off the bench and give them some scoring, a la Ben Gordon, but with more versatility.
I don’t think there is much we have that they would want. Cisco is hurt too. They already had Noc, and I’m pretty sure they can’t take him back. Maybe they would take Beno?

I like Beno better than TT
at this point. Beno has been on fire all year.
The NBA: "Where 27 free throws happens"
I'd really like to see TT on a Kings uniform
Chicago is also going all in for the summer of ‘10 so maybe they would consider taking on K-9’s contract. I think a three team trade would probably work best.

Can this be the crazy trade thread for the week?
Because if so I would like to propose K9 to the Wizards for Haywood and Blatche. Send back May as well.

I've always liked Tyrus Thomas
and I think he’s a good fit as the 3rd big, giving the option of a good defender and shot blocker. I didn’t realize he was so short though, barketball reference has him at 6’9" and 215, which might be too small for a dedicated defender.
That said, I’m not sure how we get him.
Professional Hyperbole Slayer
I think he's available to sign in the off-season
If the Kings aren’t lucky enough to get a high pick, I would love a player like TT in the Kings rotation. Much more than a Marcin Gortat that’s for sure.

Yep
if you can’t get him for K9EC, then I think that’s the right play, you call Chicago’s bluff, see if they can find other takes, and if they can’t see if they won’t make a Qualifying Offer to him.
I do think he’s worth K9EC to us, just because he might really be the right guy, and I’d like 50-60 games with us to see if he is before contract negotiation time.

You'r not going to get that 4-3
Because of Thomas’ injury.

I worry about his attitude
but I have a feeling it would change coming into the environment in Sac. I wouldn’t mind picking him up
www.mancancook.net
Why wouldn't they taks Noce back?
I heard he was beloved in Chi-town. I thought I heard here Petrie was the one who wanted him included in the deal last year? I would trade Noce for TT.

Sometimes it is as easy as a change in environment that allows a talent to blossom
Sometimes that talent, given all of the encouragement and opportunity just can’t produce.
Tyrus Thomas has been given ample chances to shine – it may be his attitude it may be his IQ, it may be his BB IQ – IMO, he has the chance to be a defensive PF version of Crash Wallace or a shorter, (much) slimmer Eddy Curry. Being a David Thorpe camp attendee he has put in the time – in the past – and so the glimmer remains.
To me, right now, he is a Donté Greene enigma, but two years older and still showing enough highlight to keep the head scratchers wondering. With a big man draft approaching, I would prefer to pass on TT and keep the current chemistry of this over acheiveing Kings team intact. No thanks.
i understand completely
But then i see his highlights and athleticism and it’s hard to say no, it would have to be the perfect trade for me to jump on board…..

I think TT
Can be our Shawn Marion….He is a little small but he is very very quick, and he can jump out of the gym, Having, Reke, TT, JT and Greene on the floor all at the same time…talk about scoring, size, rebounding, athleticism, running out on a fast break, I can run the PG and get at least 7 assts.
he has the potential - the unanswerable question is: can he fulfill it?

He's a gamble that wants a lot of money
Chicago needs big men yet wants to move him, hmmmm

Wanting & getting big money are two different things
TT won’t get big money from the Kings if he would end up staying.

Top prospect...
Tyrus is one of the Bulls top prospects. I HIGHLY doubt they would be willing to trade him for an expiring contract. If a deal to Sac was possible you would have to believe K-Mart would have to be involved. I wouldn’t even consider a deal at that point and would rather wait to see the Bulls sign Bosh or Wade is the offseason and offer tyrus a deal in the offseason. I do agree that Tyrus would be a great fit in Sac but at small forward!
The bulls
Dont really want Tyrus around anymore, they have been rumored to be tryign to trade him for as little as Al Harrington. No way Kmart would be included, I think pietrie would laugh and tell the bulls to enjoy john salmons.
Tyrus Thomas is going to create a BIG cap hold on the bulls next season and they will most likely release his rights to pursue other free agents.
Why let him walk when you can atleast get somthing of value for him in return?
With that said, I also doubt they move him just for Kenny Thomas. But no where near the talent level of Kmart, JT, Hawes should be involved.
All this was a rumor but where theres smoke there is usually fire.

Right, The cap hold is a big deal to them
They want to go after one of the big FAs this summer. If it goes on long enough they might let him go for some sort of expiring plus perhaps a 2nd pick.
Its hard for them to ask for more when as you say, just about everyone knows they’ll probably release his rights to clear room.
I don’t think anyone will give up a ton for him, just wait until summer. I’m not sure he deserves that but . . it might wok out for him when all the big FAs stay at home or are quickly gobbled up.

yeah
I just get the feeling that this offseason is a myth. LJ and wade are not goign anywhere. Lebron James is basketball in cleveland. Wade is basketball in Miami.
Bosh is really the only guy I can see moving, even that would probably be with a sign and trade as i doubt he leaves 20 million or so on the table. I know i wouldn’t!
Punjabi by Nature
Boozer will move.
Boozer, Bosh and maybe Joe Johnson (though I doubt it).
Boozer or Bosh, one goes to Miami, that leaves just one. Chicago may get the other one.
Gortat may be available in the offseason for a Kings ransom (pun intended).

Joe Johnson
Is not going anywhere.
The Hawks are playing extremely well, I doubt they mess that up.

Why waste trade pieces?
Tyrus is great. He could be phenomenal. We don’t need another small/power forward.
We need a center. We have trade pieces that could be used to get what we need or at least make some cap space for next year. Why waste what we have on a guy who would play behind Jason, and wouldn’t really improve our team all that much?
Not a comment for or against TT
but JT can always slide to the 5.

JR can agree with ed
But until it happens it’s moot. I hope JR is correct, but it’s not necessarily something that JT has done well as of yet.

They are listing him as a center on ESPN, but that doesn't mean
he’s been playing most of his time at center., and that’s pookey’s point. Who guards the other team’s best post player? It’s usually Spencer. Granted JT did to a pretty good job on Duncan, but Spencer guarded Okafor and usually takes the best post guy because he’s better defensively than JT and he’s less likely to get into foul trouble.

Agreed on that he needs to really limit those reach around fouls and the stupid little ones. Like it was said in another thread, now that hes is known as foul prone and argumentative of the calls, he really needs to play clean.
I was not happy when Duncan got called for the offensive foul, and got right up in the refs grill and didn’t get a technical for it..Superstar favoritism..Cant be taking their money..
Judgment day is coming!
I think the point JR and others are making
Is that JT could move pretty easily to C if something happened. He’s be at a bit of a strength disadvantage on a few but crazy more mobile on most.

Yeah, I think if JT keeps getting stronger, and Hawes gets more consistent
(he will!!! He’s a 21 year old center! He will!!!) then I think they can be a sort of twin towers sort of thing. Hawes is a finesse center, JT is at heart a power PF, and they are both legitimately center-sized. They can just kind of trade off based on the matchup. We have bright young big men, we just need more height and talent on the bench.
Also, Donte: I want you to play 5 positions next year. Thanks in advance.

That's the nice thing about our two bigs they are both
versatile, which allows us to draft the best 4 or 5 available this season and he’ll fit in well.
