ESPN is reporting that Oden fractured his patella in an on court collision with Houston's Aaron Brooks, all but ending his season. Did the West just get a little bit easier?

Maybe a bit easier

but the Blazers are still a good team. They’ve been hit with the injury bug though. Batum, Outlaw, Oden and even there coach are out.

Rudy has been playing hurt too.

It might make the Blazers better in the interim

One of the real problems they were having chemistry wise was integrating Oden, LMA & Roy together.

I thought Miller was the one they were having a hard time integrating?

Then again I hardly watch the Blazers so you would probably know better than me.

I don't watch them either because I don't have cable where I live and they're blacked out on my broadband

I just read more about them than you do.

They're deep enough to compensate

Przybilla is still a productive defender and rebounder and Aldridge will get more minutes at center now, where his skills and quickness stand out a little more. So maybe LMA comes to life and they start playing smaller lineups at a faster (but not too much faster) pace.

a tough break for a team that was lucky enough to get the #1 pick

Oden seems to be a hard working dedicated player with a propensity for injury. A shame as the Blazer FO have a lot riding on the future of Greg Oden.

Hope he recovers.

I hate to say it

and I’m sorry for the Blazer fans
- but I’ve been saying for a year or two that his career track seemed likely to go this way.
Big men who have injury tendancies early usually keep getting them.

GP insinuated /volunteered the same thing to me during our talk.

And I do think it’s unlikely they are still any kind of threat in the west and may even miss the playoffs depending on how they reat to the adversity, something they weren’t handling all that well before.

I wonder if GP being around Walton have a gut feeling about that

He was around the Blazer organization when they drafted Sam Bowie too. Hmmm.

Haha

That got swallowed up by the internet. Ilgauskus, David West, Okafor – just a few bigs that had injuries early on but made it back.

They will make the playoffs.

I do not know how much noise they will make in the playoffs, but they will be there.

Even thier coach is out hurt

I have only a little sympathy for other’s injuries, but what little I can muster I hereby offer.

That is really rough. When you have enough injuries that your HEAD COACH

has to suit up for practice, that is really rough. Usually teams will try to keep a young ex-player around just in case they need to suit up, but Nate had to suit up? For practice?
We talkin’ bout practice.

He and Andrew Bynum always get hurt.

We just wait by the river for the to pass by in a gurney to get some kind of lower extremity surgery/injury treatment.

Oden is finished.

Hate to say it but at least he’s rich.
Blazers will actually be fine without him.
