"I'll get back out there and everybody has got to keep playing their same game," he said. "I'm not a guy who gets the ball and dribbles a lot. I'm not a dominant player with the ball. I get my points in the flow, so there shouldn't really be any change.

"I'll be back when we're at the meat of the schedule. … We need to get as many wins as we can now, and then by the time we get healthy we'll be able to knock teams off like the Mavericks, be competitive with the Lakers and knock off teams like the Trail Blazers and the Spurs. It'll be good."

Wow. Lofty expectations there

Love the confidence our captain is showing in the team, but damn those are some high expectations. “knock off” the mavs, blazers, spurs, lol! That’d be sumthin; then maybe the MVP chants for Kobe would stop at Arco

Screw you Knicks! LBJ to the Kings!!!

Selfish

Ball movement ... is like jogging for most people: They do it occasionally, and it makes them happy. Then they go back to not doing it. - Henry Abbott

He doesn't dribble enough and isn't a dominant player

clearly, the only thing he is, is soft.

Get better Kevin.

Be competitive with the Lakers?

Just competitive? Soft. (note sarcasm)

He doesn't want to beat them by too much you know

He’s afraid of what Ron would do to him.

LOVE that confidence.

Someone’s been taking Leadership 101. I can dig it.

3 weeks away from Kev’reke.

I really love the idea of the little media attention we get focusing on Evans

While Kevin remains in the background, slightly out of focus, holding the dagger by which he kills you with a thousand tiny cuts.

I think he's comparing his game with Tyrekes

It should be interesting what effect Kmart’s return has on Tyreke. I hope he’s back by the Laker game.

by KingsFan on Dec 8, 2009 7:54 AM PST reply actions

Except that Tyreke is ball-dominant.

3 weeks sounds awesome

The best part is, this injury shouldn’t affect him on the court other than from perhaps a game or two of getting back into the flow of things, because unlike the ankle last year, this is his non-shooting wrist. He should still be just as explosive and quick.

self-aware

Compared to many athletes, Kevin has always struck me as self-aware and grounded. His description of his own game is accurate. With some exceptions here and there, Kevin doesn’t generally pound the ball and doesn’t require a lot of FGA to get his and be highly effective offensively. I think that he realizes that he has average handles (at best), so doesn’t rely on pounding the ball, which is just fine. We’ve got plenty of that on the squad right now. I think he’ll fit in just fine – like he always has – when he gets back. And we will be a more efficient offensive club.

Awesome news

He’s barely going to miss the Lakers game then. Wish he would’ve been back for that one.

got me thinking, and this is the first and last comparison I’ll make with C-Webb: remember when Webb came back from injury and had that monster game against the Lakers on a Sunday morning (ABC nationally televised game)? I still remember the Kings wearing their throwbacks and Webber dunking with authority for the first time since being back from injury. One of my happiest moments as a fan (though we all know how it al ended)

Hmm...

If I was a coach and my leading scorer, Kevin Martin, was injured with a game coming up against my nemesis, which the L@kers are, I would really try to pull something over on the.

I would say my player would be back after that game, wait until just prior to the game, and then spring his playing on them. It would totally screw up their planning.

We can all hope he is back by then…

It's way too close and not worth risking anything

but it would be nice if he was back for that game. Don’t think it happens though and I don’t mind. As much as I hate [redacted] it’s just one game.

I don't know what is at risk

This is no ankle or shooting arm injury. If it heals right it is as good as gold. The only real problem brom breaks can be from stiff ligaments and that isn’t really an injury risk.

I have broken bones and had ligament surgeries on my hand and knee, but not the wrist so maybe it can be dicier than it seems. Given that he could still play even with it broken I can’t see how, once it healed, there would be much of an issue.

Bold Prediction: Martin plays sooner than 3 weeks (contingent upon MRI)

Bolder Prediction

He plays against the [redacted] and scores 20+ points.

and I like it. Let’s see what happens.
