Greg Monroe Arrives
For all of you college cats, keep an eye on Monroe. He could elevate himself into the top three before the season is over.

The more talent there is in the draft
The less you have to worry about being in the top 3.
No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....
Oh, hes in the laegue two and Jayson Thomson and that Boggins dude on Milwokee, and Occur for the Jizz. Its a talented laegue.--Kfan in Korea
Greg Monroe was top 3 last year at this time
but he is one year older and hoepfully one year stronger
From last Feb (2009) SI Seth Davis
Greg Monroe, 6-11 freshman center, Georgetown: “Oh, he’s my favorite. For me, it’s him or Griffin as the top picks from college. His upside is off the charts, and he’s probably the most cerebral player in the draft.”
well....
I love Monroe’s package as much as the next guy….but I have had enough of offensivley polished but soft and weak defenders.
If you want a player, and availible lower in the draft most likley, check out Solomon Alabi. Now thats a player I’d like
Phil Jackson, after treatment for a kidney stone "When the anesthesiologist leaned over me, he said "We named your kidney stone Kobe because it's not passing."
I willl take a "soft, weak defender"
that pulls down 15 boards and blocks 2 shots against the #20 team i the country. Your description of Monroe was the rap on him last year. If this game is an indication of the upcoming season, he has left that in the rear view mirror. Time will tell.
I like Alabi, but Kings fans better temper their expectations if we take him – he is a project and not likely to make a Casspi-like contribution.

Me too!
I hope I added something to the discussion.
But Section, you've got to agree with Ell on one thing,
Monroe really has a great package.

How about Art Parakhouski of Radford
Leading the nation in rebounding by a longshot with 15 per ( I know, it’s Radford in the Big South conf.; but remember another small-conference, big-time rebounder – JT ), 22 pts and 2.3 blks.
6’11, 260. 2nd round maybe?
Going against Cole Aldrich and Kansas tonight at 6pm. pst, ESPN.
agreed...
Monroe has been compared to Webber. But Alabi has been compared to Dalembert….
Since it’s early, I’ll go out on the limb….

Hasn't Monroe been compared to a late career version of Webber?
I’m not a huge fan of comparisons. I think Tyreke was compared to Larry Hughes last year. People need to just let the players become who they become.
Too early to pick favorites for me
I don’t think we’ll be in the top 3 unless we get lucky with the ping pong balls so I’m going to watch the 6-13 guys.

Keep an eye on Patrick Patterson.

Yep -
Especially if DeMarcus Cousins continues to act like a 2 year old.

From watching Cousins
I already think he’s going to need to stay in the NCAA for a year or two more if he wants to get drafted in the lottery.
Patterson is the player I most want that is in the range I think the Kings will be in at the moment.

I like Monroe a lot too
Was so glad he stayed in college. If the Kings have the choice to draft between him and Patterson, I’d be thrilled. Then of course Petrie would take Jan Vesely or Motiejunas or something stupid and I’d hate him for a month before we got to see them play. I would possibly lose my head if the Kings got some old Blazer luck and got a top 3 pick when they were in the 8-12 slotted range pre-lottery.

Monroe is one guy I'm intrigued with
He was smart enough to come back to college for one more season to get better and already has good potential. Im’ going to be watching for sure.
Ohh, and I’m with lttg. I think we should pay attention to the guys in the 5-12 range, that may be where we are picking.
Godfather of the "nice ass" movement.... the future begins now...
I think I'll be flipping back and forth between the Kings
and the Kentucky/UCONN game tonight.
I’d kill you all, to get John Wall.
Don’t even think about making t-shirts or stickers using that without cutting me in.
Rocks are free, and slingshots easily stolen.
I think you'll have to kill the New Jersey Nyets first.
Although honestly, I think the Nyets might take Favors instead of Wall if given the opportunity.

The Nets do look a bit stronger to get the #1 pick, admittedly.
But then, so did we last year.
It doesn’t feel like we’re going to be in the bottom 4 again, but we may be close, and I was damn near convinced of it when Evans went down last night. I thought, this team would be unwatchable without Martin and Evans.
The kid is tough, maybe all of that muscle helps him bounce up.

He is decidedly not soft.
As of now I see the Nets, T-Wolves, Sixers, Knicks, Pacers (If they lose Granger for more than 4-6 weeks, they might not win for a while), and Golden State as teams we absolutely finish with a better record than. Then there are the teams like Memphis (who have been playing extremely well as of late), LAC (haven’t seen em with Griffin yet), Washington, Chicago or Detroit, who we could finish better or worse than. So that makes us somewhere from 7-14.

And I think we'll be somewhere between 9-12.

The Kings are sending Peaches to the draft selections.
Such a black hole of Karma will ensue that the Kings miraculously get the number one pick, and Lady Luck bites the bullet for the years of mistreatment, but she takes Peaches with her down the depths, out of desperation, thinking he was important to the Kings fanbase (why else would he be there? Oh… massive swine flu outbreak which forces the entire Kings front-office to be bedridden – originally thought of as just more Kings bad luck).

I like Larry Sanders
He has only played organized ball since his junior year in high school. Right now he is averaging 14 points and about 8 boards a game to go along with 3.5 blocks. His wing span is 7 foot 4 inches and he is athletic. He may be available when we draft between 12-16.
What I love about the King's projected spot in the draft
With exception to Alibi (I think Kings should pass on him), Moultrie, Monroe, Sanders, and maybe even Brackins can play the 4 and more importantly the 5, and I think it won’t take long for one of these guys to push that fringe starter Spencer Hawes to the bench….Spencer is better off the bench anyways…
