I think if a Superstar really, REALLY cared about winning a championship, when they were up for extensions or something, they would tell their team to re-sign them for an amount that would let them get someone else too. But players want their money.

What I read was that he wanted to go to a team that thought he was worth a long-term max contract.

“I feel he’s a (maximum-salary) player,” Grantham said. Stoudemire can’t veto a trade, but he could discourage a team with a lack of desire for a long-term commitment.

If he wants to go to a team that will make him the star, Sac is the place.

I’m not sure what you mean by more pride. Because he wants a max contract or because he wants to go to a team where he can be the man? I’m not sure either of those shows a lck of pride.
